NFL thread crowns pool champion-



Apparently, the NFL is a big deal. So when playoff time came around, farmerfran started a picking pool. Tears were shed, a Hooters customer was mocked, Romo made some ribs, it was an epic struggle. In the end, there could only stand one champion. And that soul who lucky enough to defeat me was...StorminNorman. I sat down with him, to see what he had to say.


1. How does it feel to be the NFL thread pool champ?

"I don't feel that much different. I mean I already knew I was God's Gift to Football Predictions, all this did was let the entire Hype know. Plus look at my competition...Mee? Hooters Pimp? Come on."

2. Did you drop your kids off at the pool?

"Pool's are for hookers and fat people, you think I would allow the fruit of my loins associated with that kinda crowd? I don't want them to meet Blind_Fury until they are ready."

3. What's your opinion of the other finalists you defeated? (one of them being me)

"The way I see it there are 4 types of people in this world.

Those who dared challenge my skills and lost horribly (especially Matt - come on 0-3?).

Those who dared challenge my skills and just barely left with their dignity.

Those who were wise enough NOT to challenge me.

And the chosen few, like Me, Paul Bettany and Aaron Eckhart's chin."

4. The infamous Ghostrider87 came in second, how devastating would losing to him have been?

"To think about such an absurd idea would be a waste of time better spent watching Wimbledon, or A Beautiful Mind "

5. Did you pray to Paul Bettany for wisdon in your picks?

"I made the traditional sacrifice of one Hulme supported. DV8 will not be joining us again."

6. What do you think are your chances of repeating as champ next year?

"I should clearly be the favorite. I hope my Falcons only have one personality this year so maybe they can challenge the Colts in XLII."


Jeez, gets a little luck, and thinks he's the king of the world.

Watch out Norman, you're a marked man. Next year, we nerds will be picking games with something to prove.

Chick Chat-


Thanks to Erz for the idea. Ever wondered what it's like to be a woman on the Hype? Besides Deathlok. Do people still remember him? Hmm. Anyway, women have opinions, let's see what they are.


1. Any ideas on name for this segment, or is Chick Chat as good as chocolate and a backrub?

X-Chick: It works.

DBella: I am so horrible at coming up with names. But Chick Chat doesn’t sound too good to me. What other suggestions have been thrown? Room with a View?

Master Chief: I can't think of anything more erotic so. Sensual bubble batholicious.

tzarinna: I'm cool with the name.

redmarvel: Deal the Dirt might work, but "Chick Chat" will do in a pinch... and some of us like getting pinched in the proper places...


2. What is it like, to be a woman on the Hype?

X-Chick: Probably just like being a guy except for the occasional creepy little stalker guys. I think we get more attention because this place is filled mostly with socially inept teenage boys who have as much of a chance of getting a girls attention as a tree stump.

DBella: It’s like being a minority, I suppose. But honestly, it has never bugged me because when I talk to people here, gender is the last thing on my mind. I am here for the same reasons as the guys; to discuss the things that interests us. Mainly films, comics and general topics.

Master Chief: It's hot.

tzarinna: It was a bit odd at first,seems people don't recognize my name as feminine. Some still don't know,I've stop correcting,I just don't care anymore.

redmarvel: What's it like being a guy on the Hype? How does one answer that sort of question? The only difference between being a gal on the Hype and being one in real life is that occassionally we women actually do have to TELL folks we are women... The number of times we get mistaken for men on here is amazing... Then again, at one point I thought Malice was a woman (mistaken identity thing, I thought he chose his name because of the Invisible Woman)



3. Do you gals have s special chatroom or forum the guys can't know about, where you go to gossip? If not, would you like one?

X-Chick: No and no. There aren't really enough chicks here for that and most of the posters I like are all guys. And there really isn't much to gossip about. It's not like we can be all like "OMG, did you know whoever is having cybersex with whoever!?!"

DBella: No special exclusive chat room that I know of. But there is the Hunk thread which is supposedly for the girls but there are as many guys who post there as girls… which I feel is a good thing. Gossip? Not into gossips much but I’ve never been into exclusive clubs. I’d rather talk to people of both genders to get as many perspectives on things as possible. You learn more when you include all people.

Master Chief: I'm blind, couldn't say. I hear all however. Is it inside a secret place or out in the public? Who knows. I know. But I don't.

tzarinna: None that I know of,other then the Hottie thread. But our taste in men is not at all the same. But it might be cool, I know there's a Superman board that has a "Ladies Room"

redmarvel: If we had our own room, how would we know there were no guys in it? It's one of those internet thingies... you really can't be sure who's on the other end of a keyboard. Besides, it's more fun causing mischief in the main forums...



4. How about, you finish on some random thoughts on a random Hype topic--

X-Chick: The momentum and quality of threads here has declined so much, but alas, all good things much come to an end, especially with the Nazi mods and ridiculously dumb newbies. God, I sound like an old person talking to their grandkids or something. We need something new and exciting, like another Aunt Petunia story or some of the **** posters like EML and Toven would pull. I demand we start an immediate controversy. Here, I'll start, I'm really a 60 year old dude who gets his rocks off talking comic nonsense with a bunch of kids.

DBella: Hooters Pimp will not have a Happy Ever After ending with Carmen. It’s almost as tragic as Romeo and Juliet, except that he’s no Romeo. Which is not a bad thing considering that fool ended up dead. I want some Buffalo Wings, dammit!

Master Chief: *screeeeeeee* beep beep honk honk

I'm such a downer but I wanted to make a point the other day that 1 out of 10 people are infected with HIV where I reside.

a) Why do some topics get quickly moved to other forums, yet others that don't belong in community remain there for days?
b) How many threads about sexy women do guys really need?
c) What is Malice really wearing?
