I got a date!

I'll post it here and on LSP but honestly.

She's seems to be playing it really safe and cautious.

She insisted on pay for the concessions.
She had to get back home, which while it can be on the up and up, she could just be using that as an excuse to leave early.
The fact that she didn't let you walk her to her car.

So she's either doing things really slowly, isn't as interested as you are now, or she's just not good on dates.

Either way, take things slowly, don't push her, don't ask for another date just yet. Just talk preferably on the phone.

The date was okay.

We met up at one outside the cinema. I bought the tickets, but she insisted on buying the food at the concessions. We shared some minstrels during the film. The film itself was okay - Curse of the Golden Flower. Its much less action orientated than the other films these guys made, and was a bit slow to start. She thought it was great, and had never seen any of these films. I said to her at the end of the movie I could lend her Hero and Fearless, she said I should lend her them next time we meet up. Not long after the film, she said she had to get back home and finish off some work. In fact, she had rung me up earlier today to tell me she might be late 'cause she had some work, but she wasn't late at all.

I don't know if I'm coming across as confident or what, but I felt fine today. She doesn't seem that talkative, I don't know if thats down to me or not. But I did make her laugh a few times, and I do like her. I don't know... I offered to walk her to her car but she said she was fine. I'm not gonna worry about it too much.

I wouldn't worry about it to much either- It looks like your virginity is safe for now.

I concur with my colleague, Dr. Erzengel. His analysis and recommendation for further treatment are sound. :puffsonpipe:

Don't start trying to loan movies to women on the first date.
That can come across as smothering and pushy.
Just a thought.

What are Minstrels, Kainedamo?

Seriously. Are they a candy?

And I assume you know what people usually think of in America when they hear the word "minstrels."

Google Image it. I ain't posting it after what happened to Imus.

Sorry Kainedamo, but it sounds like she put you in the "friend zone", not potential boyfriend zone

It's been said that a woman decides in the first 30 seconds (maybe less) what column you're going in. And it sounds like you're in the "friend" column.

And how far away was her car? Was it at night?
I insist on walking all women to their cars, period.
("I just want to make sure you get to your car okay.")
That's not being pushy and as long as you keep your distance while escorting her, usually gets you points.

Won't get you put in a different column, though. :csad:

They're sweets, not candy. Bloody Americans.
There's a tea company here, lyons, that for years had minstrels (the racist kind) on the front of their boxes. Didn't get pulled until the 80's. And a British TV channel had a show, the Black and White Minstrel show that ran for 20 years, with performers in blackface.

I don't know if he's in the friend zone just yet. Sounds like she's just taking it very slow and cautious and trying to determine which way she'd like to take things with him. I say he's not out of the running just yet.

You know less than me about dating :(
