Infinity War "I Will Bathe The Starways In Your Blood!" The Thanos / Josh Brolin Thread - Part 1

The great thing is that this is only the first half of Thanos' story. Cannot wait to see him again.

Your avy is still the coolest superhero entrance I have ever seen, even cooler looking than his entrance in IW.

Reckon brolins on course to be the biggest box office taker this year.

3 really strong films. Two of which will be absolutley huge.

Pratt could also take it however.

Great actor and performance anyway.

I was so impressed by Thanos in this movie. They really nailed it. Obviously, he differs from his comic book counterpart but it was expected. They had to make him work within MCU and make him something more than a sociopath killing in the name of Death's personification. I love comic book Thanos but I think this depiction would've been risky and he wouldn't have worked then as a main character of the movie. This movie made a great use of some Thanos comic book traits (loneliness and a feeling of being misunderstood, tendency for philosophical contemplation, his God complex and madness) and at the same time created a much more human, emotional and sensitive version of him.

And after watching this movie, where Thanos played such a big role, I'm excited to see more of him. Still, I'm a little worried that next time we see him he won't have that screentime and his role won't be as important as it is in IW.

I definitely don't expect him to be the de facto protagonist of A4 like he was here, but I imagine he's still going to have a substantial role.

I wonder if Thanos even ends up being more of an anti-hero/villain in the next one? Its happened in the comics to great effect. He had a solo series leading up to Annihilation which was just fantastic.

Has anyone cracked how the hell he knew Tony by name, or even of Tony's exploits on earth?

Seems there might be some sort of "memory" factor built into the stones? Or I guess it's just second-hand information from The Other in the original/at the end of the original, who seemed filled-in on what went down in NYC, and how?

A little surprised there wasn't any dialogue between he and Steve in the "arm-wrestle" moment, either. Wasn't expecting much, but some sort of acknowledgement would have been nice, up and above the swatting-away of the others who confronted him.

Another whole film of him - what a great prize waiting this time next year.

Thanos actually gave me the feels. Loved Brolin's performance.

After killing off half the universe's population and Thanos sitting there in the end alone and conflicted, do you think this will be the impetus for Death to show up and start hanging around him? If or when he dies at the end of part 2, he could ride off with her into oblivion.

The CG for Thanos is superb.

I loved how they portrayed him as terrifying and merciless.

Have you seen a movie where the heroes are terrified of the villain?

Very rare.

You can't say Marvel doesn't take their criticism to heart. I mean look at how the villains have gotten progressively better over the past couple of years: Ego, Vulture, Hela, Killmonger and now Thanos. Even before that I thought Zemo was excellent. Kaecilius was a slight bump - he wasn't terrible in my mind but didn't break the mold either.

I kinda like Kaecilius. He was just dumb to worship the wrong god.

Thanos was terrifying, but I could feel for him somethimes. He was very... human at times. I love that.

What planet was he on at the end? If they mentioned where he was, I missed it. I had my two kids grabbing my arm most of the movie!!!

I don't think he was conflicted at all. He seemed to be at peace and satisfied with all he had done, almost Zen-like.

Yes, he even slightly smiled just before the film cut into the end credits. He was definitely at peace as he accomplished his quest for balance.

Tony directed a nuclear missile into Thanos' ship, decimating his Chituari army and a herd of very valuable flying space slugs. I'm not surprised The Mad Titan knew the name of the guy responsible.

I think Thanos is the bests CBM villain we've ever had. Brolin did an incredible job.

Thanos doesn't give a **** about the Chitauri, they're just expendable cannon-fodder, a means to and end.

Makes sense he's aware of Loki, given his failure (even if they'd never met face-to-face and it was all organized through The Other), you'd figure that'd be where his concern lies though, Loki's failure, more than giving much of a crap about the Terrans who beat him. Beating Loki and a detachment of Chitauri, to Thanos' mind, would still be pretty smalltime.

You lie! Thanos is known throughout the cosmos for providing generous health care benefits and ample maternity (AND paternity) leave for all members of his alien invasion forces. Expendable cannon-fodder, indeed.

But let's say for S&G that Thanos didn't care about the individuals under his employ. He would still be steamed at the guy who played a major role in costing him money, time, and direct access to two stones. I'm not surprised he got Starks name.

He told Stark he wasn't the only one cursed with knowledge. Maybe the stones did give him some info, but I suspect he probably heard of his exploits via Loki and the Other.

I think he'll probably most likely be tormented by spirit child Gamora. Doubt the ending was the last time we will see her.

Thanos I will admit he is probably as terrifying a villain as I have ever seen in modern movie history not only because of his look but because of his pure evil menace, the method to his madness and seeing his power first hand reminds me of Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter films if I can even make that comparison.

I hope we see Thanos have actual powers like in the comics. The dude has every superpower imagined, so making him just a brute is disappointing.

Atleast give him telepathic abilities and energy blasts if not anything else

I think by making him a brute like figure it makes him look more menacing like more of a badass because he can basically take on any of them with his bare hands and probably kill them in one shot if he really wanted to
