Infinity War "I Will Bathe The Starways In Your Blood!" The Thanos / Josh Brolin Thread - Part 1

Haha yup. Which is also why I don't love seeing Thanos grow into a hulking monster over the years. He and Thor used to meet at eye level. With similar physiques. Movie looks good though.

I feel you. I really don't like any character to be designed or portrayed too large unless that is his normal stats. I'm not sure what that fixation is. The Hulk's height in Hollywood movies has always bothered me. He is way too tall. His name signifies he's bulky , not towering. He should be no more than 7 feet six inches max. I haven't seen enough of Thanos next to the heros to determine if he's too big.

From what the teaser revealed it's up in the air, but I think they focused on bulk rather than height.

I honestly don't mind that he's gotten bigger...to me it was weird seeing him, Thor, Cap, etc. at eye level. At least they've only changed his physique and didn't do him like Darkseid in the New 52 where he barely talked at first like a slasher movie villain.

I like the size change. The general perception of a being called a "titan" is size and if you want him to be extra memorable from a cinematic standpoint, you make him imposing physically.

So...is Thanos really going to be wearing that lame sleeveless shirt, and cargo pants outfit the whole movie? What happened to his armor from Guardians Of The Galaxy?

My guess is he'll drop more and more armor as he acquires the Infinity Stones. The idealogy is that, given he has omnipotent power, why would he need armor? And I can't lie, it makes sense for him not to have it once he's wielding the Gauntlet. Not to mention it'll give them a way better opportunity to provide more robust CGI, especially during high tension action sequences.

My sentiments exactly. It didn't ever bother me reading comics where Thanos was around the same height as Captain America, but I've always been happy that the size increase has happened over time. While the character is from a race of offshoot humans, he's not human. He's an Eternal with the Deviant gene, so his entire look should reflect that and be imposing.

And especially for the film. You can't really have Thanos seem all that imposing if he's eye to eye with any of the characters other than the Hulk. Imo, just wouldn't look right.

Same. The idea of him having less armor as he acquires the Stones has grown on me even more as well, and the more I look back on the design, I think it was the perfect move to make.

The Russos addressed this.

He didnt see a need for it since he thinks he'll be OP.

Hope that means he will get it though.

He kind of looks like 1970s Thanos. I hope they get his character right man. Thanos the philosopher

I know, that's why I think it's a perfect change. If he is pretty much omnipotent, what does he need armor for? Just seems so pointless when you think about it & I'm glad they feel the same in that regard. I find it hilarious there are some across the internet claiming Thanos' look has been ruined because he won't have excess armor. :funny:

I hope we truly get a complex ass-kicker villain this time around. Hela was a step in the right direction but she was again "evil for the sake of it" and she was under-utilized in the film. I hope there are more undertones and motives to Thanos rather than just being evil and he truly kicks ass throughout the film.

It has been a while since i have seen a marvel villain that gave me desperation vibes while chewing scenery for a decent amount of time.

Well there is no denying he looks LESS like Thanos than he did before but we can work with it.

Thanos' armor struck me as Asgardian Armor. Not just armor, a symbol of royalty or status.

Tbf it's taken from the comics. It's what he wore during Annihilation... which is one of the best "event" stories ever.

I wouldn't say she was evil for the sake of it. She had a pretty understandable motive. Odin used her as a weapon to gain power. Once he had that power he turned on her. I'd be pissed off too!

Ragnarok spoilers.

Yeah that ship is monstrous. I love how they were able to capture the scale and scope of it all in one shot. Makes me wonder just how many damn armies on it, but I look forward to seeing it in IW.

She was like Loki. He didn't turn on her. Odin was a naive king building an empire, he did so, and learned what it means to protect. Hela was power hungry. The movie made it very clear Odin didn't DO that to her. Her ambition was power and death inherently.

He didn't wear that in Annihilation lol. He wore white robes. This costume is similar to his first sleeveless appearance in Iron man comics in the 70s.

Well yea, white sleeveless robes without a helmet. That's what he appears to be wearing in Infinity War. As soon as I saw The statue from comic con it instantly reminded me of Annihilation. In particular that awesome cover where him and Drax are squaring up.

It might not be exactly the same but it's clearly influenced by it.

I wonder will Thanos just be a melee fighter or will he actually have energy attacks (without Infinity Gems).

Not needing armour is no reason not to wear it when it looks so cool!

Now I want to see the Annihilation one, at least in the form of an easter egg :hmr:
