Infinity War "I Will Bathe The Starways In Your Blood!" The Thanos / Josh Brolin Thread - Part 1

He's so nerfed and his characteristics is altered quite a bit but that's perfectly fine. Do you prefer this version of reasonable bad guy or the maniac in the comics who destroys half the universe just because he loves a girl ? The latter wouldn't work well for me tbh.

Ya him tryna do this All for a girl wud neuter him just like bane got neutered at the end of tdkr
Excellent angle they used instead.

As I said, I was impressed by the depiction of Thanos we've ended up with. And yet, as a big Thanos fan and a reader of comic books, I would love some kind of implementation of the pieces from "Thanos: Rising" miniseries. Lady Death could be a creation of his twisted mind which whispers to him from the time of his childhood and never leaves him (that's why he goes by "The Mad Titan" which was also introduced in MCU). She could be the reason he believes death is salvation and why he believes that genocide of half the population is the solution what caused his exile from Titan. She doesn't even have to be referred to as "Death" in the movie if her somewhat unrealistic appearance speaks for itself and we all assume that she's the personification of death. Personally, I think they could easily combine those two motivations for Thanos: 1) the altruistic one which we got in the movie with him carrying a burden to save the universe from itself, 2) the egoistic motivation of him wanting to live by Lady Death's side. She could tell him about Infinity Stones and persuade him that if he obtained all of them and became omnipotent she would appear as a real being and they could finally be together.

I kinda like Kaecilius. He was just dumb to worship the wrong god.

When I think about it, i find Ultron, Mandarin, Ronan, Red Skull good, sometimes even memorable (ultron) not great like Loki, Thanos, Winter Soldier/Alexander Pierce or mostly villains of phase 3 but good. We also had a good antagonist as Iron Man in Civil War.

Actually, the villains who suck was only Iron Monger, Vanko, Malekith, Kaecilius, Yellowjacket. They were just there... Well, to be there.

Brolin voice fit so well with The Mad titan! I'm thrilling impressed by the visual look of Thanos, he looked so impossing and he just dominated.

I love the petty, arrogant, emotionally stunted and unnecessarily cruel version of Thanos that is commonly seen in the comics. But we see a lot of those types of villains, and I'm glad the Russos and Brolin adjusted the character in the manner they did. I found the calm, emotionally mature and respectful version the Russos put onscreen to be an all time great.

Agreed. People need to stop getting upset if they don’t follow the comics exactly. It’s been ten years since Iron Man and it should be obvious by now they aren’t doing literal translations of the comics. The essence of Thanos was still there, which was a madman who thinks killing half the universe is ok in order to justify the end results.

I'm fine with the changes they've done to Thanos. At least he's still Thanos. The Grandmaster is basically just a wacky guy in a bathrobe now, instead one of the strongest Elders in the Universe.

One of the best comic villains ever put to the big screen. The Russos and Brolin did wonders with him.

Agreed. And to think I didn't like his voice initially... How wrong I was!

I love the way he says "Yes" [BLACKOUT]to kid Gamora in the end. It was as if the roles reversed, she was a parent scolding him or asking him did he do a chore. His tone was like a sad child.[/BLACKOUT]

Thanos was superb. One of the best CBM villains. Brolin did a terrific job.

They are very few villains who actually suck in the MCU, they are more good ones than bad ones actually.

He is almost on par with Darth Vader as villain. This movie also looks more like Thanos vs. the rest of the world and you start rooting for the guy ;-). Very good CGI (I was concerned how it will go in practise) and very good Brolin acting "inside".

He was a lot like Vader in ESB that every time he was on screen I had a sense of dread.

Seeing Thanos for the first time in all of his glory I admit I was very impressed

Thanos being cursed with knowledge it makes me wonder if he knows everything about every single hero in the MCU? If he does it wouldn't surprise me if he knows just what to do when it comes to making them vulnerable or even going after their loved ones

He was very interesting but I was disappointed we lost the death aspect.

A question about this gauntlet:

Was the gauntlet destroyed after he did his snap? I saw a lot of damage to it and was wondering if it was still working. He transported after that but can he still do all those things he did before with the gauntlet? After he transported away he is at his cabin and the gauntlet is nowhere to be seen, so I was confused if the gauntlet was damaged beyond repair

[BLACKOUT]I assumed Thor damaged it with Stormbreaker but that it was superficial damage at best.[/BLACKOUT]

The Nova movie should open with Thanos and the Black Order wrecking Nova HQ/Zandar to get the Power Stone.

Loved Thanos, he's one of the all-time great villains now. I wouldnt mind seeing a solo movie of Thanos in the future.

I liked Thanos a lot in this but yeah the only downside was not having Death playing a key role. I dunno...maybe there might be time for her but the less I think about it, my expectations of seeing any form of Death has died down to the point I don't care as much. It would be nice to see her and to think Hela might appear in that role... I have doubts she will be seen again even though I still believe she ain't gone.

So that scene with Gamora at the end, what do we figure that was? "Inside" the Soul Stone, some projection of sorts? Or just a sort of daydream/internal thing he's cooking up himself?
