Infinity War "I Will Bathe The Starways In Your Blood!" The Thanos / Josh Brolin Thread

Most likely, but there was alot of hero stuff there. There's a Batman mask behind Conan too.

Reading the IG comics. I hope Thanos speaks with a scholarly genius tone the majority of the time. Just like he did in the comics.

Kind of a random thought, but as far as being a physical threat in the MCU, how will Thanos compare to Kurse? Although he was not that prominent in the film, he gave Thor a good beating and seems to be the biggest physical threat yet. Just wondering what anyone else thinks will help set Thanos apart. Perhaps he'll be one-shotting everyone left and right.

...I hadn't thought of that. We've seen Hulk beat by Tony and Thor beat by Curse.

We could have Thanos one shot Giant Man. Rip the gem out Vision head. Break Scarlet Witches control with the willpower of his mind. Panthers vibranium claws break on his chest. Have him destroy Caps shield.

Hell we could have him kill the entire Avengers Team in the first part. Then in Ant-Man 2 and Captain Marvel they assemble a team of new heroes that weren't killed. Then they battle Thanos and eventually beat him bringing back the killed heroes. I dunno.

Agreed. I love that way he talk in the comics. It so grand lol.

THAT is the Thanos I grew to love. Hopefully he does. I mean, in the IG saga, just the way he speaks and is written, the Earth geniuses are generally middle schoolers to him. He operates on a different level of intellectual awareness

Thanos always needs to be kept as articulate as possible, it's why I enjoy seeing Starlin write the character so much. Despite all of his flaws & his psychotic nature, Thanos is an extremely elegant figure. And that facet should always be on full display.

So like Smaug from the Hobbit films? Minus the fire-breathing-dragon-as-big-as-an-apartment-building aspect.

Is Corvus Glave and his merry band going to be in this as Thanos's muscle?

Yeah, I thought it was fine. I'm expecting him to be articulate but hopefully not as monologue happy as Starlin writes him. That'd get old very fast.

I thought his dialogue in GotG was bad. That screamed modern overlord Thanos.

Hulk said it, he's an articulate, ellogant character when written by Starlin. If this aspect is missing in the MCU, then he's just Thanos, the villain of infinity war

Still don't understand why people are so keen on the black order! It doesn't really fit with classic Thanos

True. While I wasn't taken aback by the dialogue, it certainly wasn't the best representation of how he normally carries himself. In that regard, improvements definitely need to be made going forward.

And I also agree about Thanos not needing an army. I like to think of Thanos as someone who will dispatch an army on foes for his amusement, but not to be reliant on them in the way someone like Darkseid is.

Thanos works better when he's acting solo...kind of like the Joker. Most of the time putting them in a team scenario just don't work because they're flat out more powerful & commanding than the other villains they're paired with.

Maybe to you, but I want the monologue-driven Shakespearean Thanos on the big screen.

I don't. That was one of the things that made Ultron hard to take seriously. We've had talky villains before which is fine, but it doesn't need to be Starlin levels where it's Thanos standing around babbling incessantly for page after page.

That's one of the reasons why the (debunked) rumor that Infinity War Part I gonna be cancelled in favor of a Thanos solo film always seemed laughable to me.

Well, I am currently reading through Infinity, so that probably influenced my thinking. I do like Corvus Glave though as a character.

The movies are never just "classic" interpretations, and tend to draw from multiple sources anyway.

There's no reason to believe, the 1st film won't be done mostly from Thanos' perspective. He still needs to travel around and collect all of the gems. He doesn't have a single gem yet, and all signs point to that journey or quest beginning in Infinity War.

I can easily see that film being an MCU version of Thanos Quest for one storyline in the film running parallel to the Dr Strange and Thor/Hulk trying to gather the Avengers on Earth storyline.

They've already said the movie will feature multiple groups and many battles in different locations, as well as a big focus on following up the events of Civil War.

I'm sure Thanos will have a subplot thread to himself (just like many other villains have gotten) but to the extent he's the main character and the movie is from his perspective? No, probably not. If only for the same reason everyone pointed out when the whole "They're cancelling Infinity War for a Thanos movie" bs came up in the first place: The audience is here for the Avengers, the people in the title.

Not necessarily. The Marvel brand is what sells currently. Look at GOTG.

There will probably be some Earth villain to pester the broken Avengers when the film shows what's happening on Earth (perhaps Zemo).

I think the film will have 2 main plots rolling simultaneously. Thanos hunting down gems, while the Guardians and Nova Corp follow him, will be one. The other will be Strange/Thor/Hulk trying to gather up the Avengers to prep for Thanos while they all deal with their own pest (Zemo's group).

Were they so sure they could do a Thanos movie without the Avengers then I'm sure they just would've made that Thanos movie people on here kept telling me was totally gonna replace Infinity War.

You keep selectively quoting portions of my posts.

Infinity War could easily be half Thanos' perspective. He needs A LOT of character development and journey development to capture all of the gems one by one, explain why he wants them, explain his origin, and explain his fascination with Death/Hela.

They wouldn't be building to him and hyping him this entire time, like this, to turn around and devote most of the screen time to the heroes once again.

I have no problem buying that the 1st film will be mostly a lose adaptation of Thanos Quest mixed with "forgiveness and reconciliation" on Earth.
