Thanos is usually depicted around the Hulk's height.

Indeed and they're definitely going to do the same here, as GOTG indicates. He's definitely not 6'7 like they claim he is in some of the comics. haha :D

A tease to what we could possibly see with the live action face-off with Thanos and Hulk!

Sorry but the writing for that show is gotdamn awful. Who the hell does the writing for this show? An eleven year old?

Fight was 'meh'.

It's for 11 year olds, so why not?

No, I said terrible writing, not kiddy. There are ways to write good superhero cartoons for kids without it being lame. Batman & Superman: TAS both proved that.

The original version of "godamn" before people replaced "got" with "God," something I prefer not to do. Should do some research, can go a long way. :D

Let's get back on-topic now, shall we? ;)

That show is rubbish, still fun though. :woot:

Well gotdamn I was only asking a question :o

They have Norse Mythology characters on their hand with great futuristic interpretation yet they spent half of the movie with forcing lame jokes, stupid side characters from earth, lame romance with Jane etc.

It's a world with bunch of God like warriors from king to prince, warriors three and monstrous villains. It screams epic war movie.

It's like LOTR meets Conan The Barbarian meets Star Wars. Then what we have Selving in underpants all the time, Jane slapping Asgardian Royality and Kat Dennings non stop talk talk talk... Save that stuff for GOTG.

A billion dollar franchise wasted on the idea of "we must make Thor relatable to the people" What's next, Jar Jar Binks for the kids?! :cmad:

Sorry about the rant but it drives me crazy as someone who loves epic fantasy movies, mythology, sword & sorcery etc.

I do agree that they should remove the Jane & Darcy characters from the Thor series but I'm not sure this is the right topic for said discussion. :D

I want to see Thanos do the following.Disintegrate Thor's hammer.
Shatter Captain America's shield
Punch the Hulk so hard that he turns back to Banner.
Kill Groot.
Brake Dr. Stranges hands.
Rip the Arc Reactor out of Iron Man's chest.
Kill Drax.

That'd prove his badassery.

I don't really need to see any of that because it falls into "Would you really?" territory. We know it'll all be fixed with the gauntlet so what's the point?

^ Exactly, might as well not even waste time & money doing unnecessary things.

You what I wonder who will actually take down Thanos.I'd assume it comes down to

Doctor Strange with his magic.
Hulk literally becoming so Angry that he can resist the power of Thanos.
Spider-Man distracting Thanos with his big mouth, so someone can take the gauntlet
Captain America, being Captain America.

Or maybe Vision Ex-Machina, where Vison just comes out of no where and reaches his hand into Thanos's heart killing him. They take the guantlet and boom it's over. But that'd be lazy.

Pfft at Spiderman mouthing off - After GOTG, everyone, and I mean everyone knows there's only one way to distract a supervillian - and that's a dance-off challenge.

Starlord: Dance off br-Thanos: ****** slaps Starlord back to the dinosaur age with the time stone* Ronanalready fell for that ****. Ain't no body got time for that. Lol.

But seriously I'm intriugued if Thanos does get all the Infinity Stones. How can they defeat him? He can wipe them out with a literal thought. Infact how do the Avengers ever defeat Thanos in the comics when he has the Infinity Gauntlet. Shouldn't he be absolutely omnipotent at that point.

Thanos doesn't normally get defeated in a feasible way. There are rare exceptions but there's some b.s. about him always allowing an opening for the heroes to slither through & take him down because deep down he knows he's not worthy of true God-like power.

But yeah, he should be untouchable with it. Even Galactus couldn't take him down when he had it.

Well then this is certainly gonna be a slaughter in Thanos's favor.

Thing is, they never actually defeat Thanos when he has the Infinity Gauntlet. What happens is that the ultimate power Thanos so desperately seeks is never what he expects it to be, whether such power comes from the Infinity Gems, from a Cosmic Cube or whatever else. Let's walk through his mindset for a second:

In Thanos's quest to gain Death's love, he goes far beyond what any other mortal has ever done, becoming the supreme being of the universe, an undisputed and omnipotent ruler. What if, even after that, Death refuses to show you any affection? What happens when you could bend reality to your will and yet you're unable to make her willingly appreciate your efforts or your person? Sure, you could force her to do it, but would that be the same?

Let's take a step further, go beyond the relationship with Death. After you're omnipotent, what happens next? There can't possibly be any other goals after that. Which leads to: is power a means or an end? If it's a means, then it's useless, because you were still unable to achieve your primary objective. If it's a goal, that's the end of the story: what else will your life be for?

What's the point in being omnipotent in a world that has nothing else to offer you?

Part of what makes Thanos such a compelling villain is that his plots are never just about the hero defeating the villain. Put most other antagonists in his position and you'd get stories about an invincible villain that is eventually defeated through persistence and cleverness of the heroes... not Thanos. With Thanos, he just sabotages his own plan, subconsciously, by failing to go all the way or by exposing fatal opportunities to his rivals. Why? Maybe because all his effort was for nothing. Maybe because he believes himself unworthy of all that power. Maybe because he fears there is nothing else. Or maybe he fears the realization of being wrong and unsuccessful from the beggining.

The real answer is "all of the above". I remember reading The Thanos Quest for the first time and being speechless at how brilliant the conclusion was, and even moreso after seeing Thanos slowly breaking down during Infinity Gauntlet. These questions are part of the introspection that makes a great villain. Who knew becoming a god could be so bleak?

^Well then. Thanos is a much deeper character than I thought. Thanks for clarifying that.

Thanos is usually depicted around the Hulk's height.
I imagined him to be atleast taller by his head to the point where he could look down upon the Hulk.

He practically always has been...which is why I don't see why he's billed as 6'7 in the comics. Wonder who came up with that.

Eh, I don't think that's true. I'd say he's consistently shown to be maybe a half foot taller than Thor. Regardless, 6'7 isn't that far off. He's not always Hulk's size, and shouldn't be. Thanos isn't just a big brute. It wasn't until his Resurrection after Annihilation I feel like where he started consistently be drawn bigger.

Jim Starlin created him and seems to draw Thanos at 6'7 -7 feet..maybe 7 feet and a few inches max. That's how his creator drew him, and since there's never been on panel confirmation of growth, all other heights are just personal misinterpretations in my opinion. I think of Thanos no taller than 7'

Here's just two of many scans that depict Thanos around 7 feet max. TBH I always thought a full on 8 and a half foot Hulk size Thanos is just ridiculous.

He's bulkier, and a lot more muscular than Thor, or other characters around that height mostly...but he's wasn't originally that much taller I feel like.
