I think Thanos kinda has to be taller than Hulk to be realistically effective in these movies.

I don't think so. He just has to look like he can physically hold his own, which can be easily established with some well placed punches. It's arguably more impressive if he's smaller than the Hulk and still smacks him around.

Agreed. He's not a big scary monster. Well he is, but that's not who makes him him. He's a horrifying intellect, a mutant of off shoots of humanity. One who's extreme physical might, and powers were created by himself. He's a genius scientist who essentially learned and became everything. There's so much characterization with his persona, and big hulking characters tend to get stigmatized I feel like. A height approachable Thanos is all the more impressive given his feats. We haven't seen him compared to anyone else so GotG isn't a good gauge, but I don't think he was taller than Hulk. He wasn't as big, either. Which is how it should be. Thanos' strength is augmented, he doesn't have to be be physically bigger than Hulk to hit harder than him.

Although the aesthetic of him towering over everyone would make for quite a scene. Imagine the team standing before Thanos in infinity 1 and all looking up to him, it would credibly show him for the massive threat he predominantly is in the comics, especially in the past decade.

As you said, he should never be defined by his size, but it should be a big feature about him given he's promoted as this monstrous force exceeding everyone in the universe without a single gem.

I never liked the ginormous portrayal of Thanos. In IG he was more or less eye level with Cap, which what made their staredown so great.

Exactly. Put the focus on Thanos's other qualities, not just his physical might. The more usual size for Thanos is a few inches taller than Captain America (as seen in Infinity Gauntlet) or, at most, two heads above a normal human (as seen in Annihilation). Comics that portray him as being Hulk-sized or larger are incredibly rare, and either way I don't think a massive Thanos is necessary for him to be intimidating (or strong).

We've already seen Thanos in GotG, albeit sitting down. He is large but not that massive.

Based on the GotG look. I can see him being atleast MCU Hulk's height.

He's eight and a half to nine feet tall...if that isn't massive I don't know what is. Sure, it's not like he's 1,000 feet tall but he's still huge. Eight to nine foot tall people aren't exactly common in every day life.

And I do agree that the focus shouldn't be on Thanos' stature but he definitely shouldn't be eye level with Cap or anyone else besides Hulk. Given he's a mutant, it makes sense that he would be a towering beast.

Hulk is 8"5 so Thanos being 9"0 would be appropriate in my eye's not too big. Not too small. Granted if he was the same height as the Hulk or smaller it wouldn't be a problem because he's Thanos, he'd probably still lay the smack down on jade jaws.

I think he should be slightly taller than Hulk. It just seems fitting.

I know, it feels like it'd be more acceptable for the General non-comic book reading audience.

That's just it, the general audience will buy into Thanos that much more if he were taller than Hulk. He doesn't have to be bigger, but taller is certainly a good idea.

The way I explain Thanos to wrestling fans is like Brock Lesnar with the mind of Bray Wyatt. He's nearly unstoppable and more philosophical and intelligent than any being on Earth and most of the universe.

I hope they actually portray that he's genius rather than just having him use the IG for everything.

Considering the way they've been building up to Thanos, I'm sure he's going to be as memorable as possible in every way. I cant imagine them skimping out on showing how brilliant of a force he is.

I hope they explain why Thanos feels the need to have the IG or juet why he's evil.

I'm wondering now if they'll have Josh Brolin do some of the motion capture for Thanos or if he'll simply only have to worry about doing the voice & the voice only?

I think he'll be biger than the Hulk.

My thinking is that Thanos' signature/iconic arc in the comics is Infinity Gauntlet and his size should be similar to that... maybe around 6'6" to 7 feet? I kinda like the idea that he's smaller than Hulk but still absolutely manhandles him in a 1-on-1 square go. Would be a serious "holy #$%&" moment for the audience.

Likely only voice work. Love his Thanos voice though. Exactly how I'd imagine the titan would sound.

This. I think a little bigger than his normal comic height though. A little shorter than MCU Ultron Prime. Say, 7'6
