If Satan changed Hell into a blissful paradise...

Doubtly, since I'm the one answering HIS questions.

Yet I'm the one answering HIS questions so that would be doubtful. So is the whole hell thing settled now. This is the issues we have settled here:
1)The dead are all in an unconscious state of non-existence
2)All go to hell, hell is the common grave.
3)It is not permanent many will be resurrected from it.
4)There is no flames, suffering in hell. It is symbolic for eternal destruction.
5)God will toss death into hell.

Isn't it nice to have the great lord Bison back? The Hype was seriously lacking without him. Welcome back boss

considering i don't believe in Satan or Hell.....no.

here's a fun fact...back in Jesus's day, there was a town where garbage was burned 24/7......that town was literally named "Hell". hell, even now-a-days there are 3 different places in the world named "Hell". Hell, Michigan is one of them...hehe.

The correct translation is actually, "Sheol". It was a garbage dump that was constantly on fire to burn trash. It was also used to throw the bodies of criminals, who were not worthy of a proper burial, in their as well. Jesus used it as a metaphore in his teachings to tell people not to go off into eternal destruction like the criminals who were thrown in there were. Now if you notice in the real life Sheol no LIVING people were thrown in there. So there is no pain and suffering in hell because no one is alive there.

i knew that....

...but i also know that Jesus said something along the lines of "it's better to pluck your eye out for lusting over another man's woman than to be thrown into the fires of 'Hell'." of course, Hell would've been 'Sheol' at the time and that line could've easily have been taken the wrong way...

That's true, it's why so many people are so confused about what hell actually is because of poor translations. Beside Sheol, the bible also speaks of Tartarus, Hades, and the Lake of Fire. Some Bible translations simply translate all these words to just "hell" which is why nobody knows the true meaning of hell and the state of the dead.

couldn't agree with ya more, Mr. Bison....which is one of the many reasons i don't believe in hell. and there ARE many reasons...hehe.

Actually, you've got it wrong thar', bud. Sheol isn't the correct translation of Hell, and Sheol was never the flaming mass that you guys're talking about. That did exist, though, and did play a rather big part as the concept developed over time.

Sheol was basically the concept of afterlife, and it's entirely at odds with the New Testament concept of Hell, as far as the fact that everyone, sinners and saints alike, go there.

Satan, who was originally an angel, became the 'Devil' figure, as the concept of duality came more and more into play, and the idea of him being the fallen angel is originally from Milton, though its now largely accepted, for some reason. I've never gotten that, really.

:o

O...kay? Are you asking why I don't get it, or why it's largely accepted?

Lol random thread resurrection, was kind of freaking when I saw a post by blind_fury up.

Why you dont get it..

Well, because Milton's "Paradise Lost" is a fictional work, albeit a masterpiece; and generally it's been regarded as such, but this one concept seems to have snuck itself into the mainstream theology somehow. It bugs me, it really does.
