Okay, so let's pretend that the asm series never happened. Better yet, you can even pretend if you want in some crazy world that the raimi series didn't happen.
So we have this marvel cinematic universe, with all these characters mingling but for some odd reason the flagship character is missing. With things seemingly coming to fruition now, spiderman is supposed to be involved with phase 3.
NOW, in the comics spiderman is the flagship character for marvel. which means, he should be the main character of the mcu when he is brought in. It is arguable that all this time, iron man has been the main character of it. he had 2 films in phase 1, i believe he had the most screen time and biggest role in avengers 1 even though cap was the leader, and his actions are what is setting avengers 2 in motion.
I don't know what they'll do with the iron man character, it's likely that rdj will get too old and they will recast him. or, he'll be finally killed off. seeing as how the mcu has its own storyline and doesn't really follow any particular from the comics, I wouldn't mind seeing iron man killed off, and spiderman taking over as the new, default main character of the mcu.
so once spiderman makes his debut in the mcu and his character has developed, because he is the one true flagship character of marvel, he should be in the limelight, and i don't mean he should just get the most screen time or whatever, i mean whatever role iron man was playing throughout the timeline of the mcu, spiderman should take his place.
now you can either agree or disagree with me on this.
if you agree, the question is, how will they go about really emphasing his importance in the placement of the marvel universe?
if you disagree, why? is it because you think that the notion of placing too much focus on iron man was wrong in the first place? because it's too late in the mcu's phases to place any emphasis on a newcomer since there's many others i.e antman/scarlet witch/quicksilver/black panther/more? or something else?
please, discuss.
