Okay, so let's pretend that the asm series never happened. Better yet, you can even pretend if you want in some crazy world that the raimi series didn't happen.

So we have this marvel cinematic universe, with all these characters mingling but for some odd reason the flagship character is missing. With things seemingly coming to fruition now, spiderman is supposed to be involved with phase 3.

NOW, in the comics spiderman is the flagship character for marvel. which means, he should be the main character of the mcu when he is brought in. It is arguable that all this time, iron man has been the main character of it. he had 2 films in phase 1, i believe he had the most screen time and biggest role in avengers 1 even though cap was the leader, and his actions are what is setting avengers 2 in motion.

I don't know what they'll do with the iron man character, it's likely that rdj will get too old and they will recast him. or, he'll be finally killed off. seeing as how the mcu has its own storyline and doesn't really follow any particular from the comics, I wouldn't mind seeing iron man killed off, and spiderman taking over as the new, default main character of the mcu.

so once spiderman makes his debut in the mcu and his character has developed, because he is the one true flagship character of marvel, he should be in the limelight, and i don't mean he should just get the most screen time or whatever, i mean whatever role iron man was playing throughout the timeline of the mcu, spiderman should take his place.

now you can either agree or disagree with me on this.

if you agree, the question is, how will they go about really emphasing his importance in the placement of the marvel universe?

if you disagree, why? is it because you think that the notion of placing too much focus on iron man was wrong in the first place? because it's too late in the mcu's phases to place any emphasis on a newcomer since there's many others i.e antman/scarlet witch/quicksilver/black panther/more? or something else?

please, discuss.

I think Spider-Man's importance should be emphasized if he joins the MCU. Doesn't necessarily have to "replace" Iron Man, but he should get some love on screen.

I wonder though about how long RDJ will remain in the MCU as Iron Man. And even after RDJ leaves, will they recast Iron Man or just "retire" the character?

Will Spidey be in the limelight as Marvel's flagship character yet again?

Does Tony deserve it? What about Thor or strange?

ugh, second time this week something like this has happened to me

EDIT: no, second time this week the EXACT same thing has happened to me.

huh. do i just have terrible luck or is God tryna tell me something.

Depends on how well received Spider-Man is in the MCU. It won't happen overnight that's for sure. But if they have a series of successful Spider-Man films and really make his character as lovable as the comic book counterpart... he could easily be at the top. Too many variables to consider.

Thor will never be a flagship character, and I have a lot of doubts about Dr. Strange. If it's not Iron Man and it's not Spider-Man then I could see Captain America holding the baton.

Really, sorry about that man

Mine had a poll, so that's consolation perhaps?

that's the thing. yesterday, I made a thread, someone else made a thread (about pretty much the same thing) only with a poll.

Consolation would be: a mod merging our two threads, your poll being on it, but my thread title and first post.

honestly.

I think a spiderman series would be more on it's own in the MCU, acting as a side-slate to the main MCU slate.

That being said, I strongly believe that if marvel gets their hands on the spiderman films, they will make iron man money

I think that makes sense. It's sort of like how GOTG takes place in the MCU but still stands on its own. The difference with Spidey is that he will actually make appearances in Avengers/event movies from time to time.

All I care about is that Marvel would make GREAT Spider-Man movies.

Sorry about that mate

We'll just see which thread grows, no need to make the mods busy

The poll does add to it I think, definitely so solution

I think Captain America will be the one leading the MCU by the time Spidey is introduced.
Captain America, Iron Man and Spider-Man will be the big three.

it's okay man. it ain't the end of the world lol but the poll ain't necessary coz the answer has to be spidey :oldrazz:

btw I did pm a mod about it. let's see if we can work this out.

What happened?

we've got 2 threads talking basically about the same exact thing only one of them has a poll and came right after mine. this same exact thing happened to me yesterday.

it wasn't BRAB's fault, he probably was making his thread while I made mine and mine got published a few minutes earlier because he was making a poll. My first post was also longer.

I dunno. It's not a huge deal but I did pm a mod about it.

Yea, except even more so. Since they already have their plans, they don't need to use the spiderman films to set up for anything except more spiderman films, whereas GotG still had MCU setup duties with Thanos and the gems. Spidey will have his own little bubble in the MCU, with the possibility of other street levels showing up

This. And I don't really care which character ends up being "number one." I love Spider-Man most and all I care about is seeing my favorite character getting some really good movies.

I think it works best that way, which is why I think the whole "THE MCU IS TOO CROWDED" argument is just a fallacy.

Spider-Man would actually be a great opportunity to introduce Daredevil on the big screen after the Netflix series.

I think if marvel gets their hands on spidey creatively, he will make iron man money.

I don't know, I think it should be Captain America because he's been there right at the first phase, with Spidey only possibly joining at the start of Phase 3? But I won't be surprised if Spidey eventually became the face of Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I think the first Marvel Spidey film may not be that successful at the box office, but if it restores the faith of fans and critics, the next one could be HUGE. That's our shot at getting a $1B gross for Spider-Man.

I think they'll definitely use daredevil, maybe even luke cage too
