If you laughed at the crying then you probably....

I want to know that as well... I have seen plenty of people cry and not once do they cry 'cool'. Which is one reason, for me, it's hard to cry in public- because I know I don't look good when crying.

I tremble, trying to hold the tears away, which albiet forms an unintentional 'face'- but once they come out- they come out big time. :csad: I'm man enough to admit it.

But, everyone here must be macho and cool and cry like a strong action hero. :cwink:

i agree with you. Who says you look good when you cry? Its a natural thing, that doesn't necessarily look good.

....never had someone close to you die, or had someone you truely loved.

My mother died of cancer 7 years ago, and I cried alot, so I guess that makes me emo. I choked up when I was saying my wedding vows to my wife. I cried when my children were born, so I guess that makes me emo too.

I actually feel bad for people who don't get the crying scenes, because when you are touched personally by a tragedy (and it's enevitable that we all will face it at one time or another), you will probably be totally unprepared for the grief you face.

You can make up words like "emo" to make you feel cool, but when tragedy strikes, it will hit you like a knife through the heart.

i had someone close to me die every year for the last 4 years, so i know what's it like to lose someone, yet i laughed at the crying scenes in the movie 'cause they just weren't believeble. the acting was awfull and there were too much lame moments in the movie that you couldn't take even the emotional moments serious.

Tobey just makes funny faces, that's all. Scenes that should be emotionally charged and heartfelt ended up being tainted by Tobey's weird facial expressions. There IS such a thing as overacting, which Tobey had in spades in some scenes.

The select individuals in general who claimed to have laughed because Tobey 'made a funny face' may be judging the scene in a more surface sense. When a person cries in the real world due to an unfortunate tragedy they don't take the time to look in the mirror to make sure their face doesn't 'look funny'.

C'mon, there are TONS of movies with sudden-crying-scenes and no-laugh effect... :csad:

Nobody laughed in my theatre. Everyone was into it.

There was a lot of applause at the end as well. Many people even stayed until after the credits to see if anything was going to happen. I felt personally satisfied when I walked out of that theatre. I was in an excellent mood for the whole week, like I got laid or something.

I'm a very emotional person. I can cry from just hearing certain tracks of a movie score (Time Machine, Spiderman 1 & 2, Superman Returns, etc...). I cry at emotional moments on screen or on stage. That is unless the pacing and acting can carry it off as being real.

Tobey is a good actor in my opinion. I felt his pain during Uncle Ben's death in the first film, his crying was fine and conveyed emotion. Yet, Spiderman 3 comes along and that scene on the bridge just completely pulled me out of the movie. When someone breaks up with you, do you start babbling and instantly cry??? no, it takes a few second to sink in. Tobey didn't do that. As soon as Mary Jane said "It's over", Peter is like, "WHAT?!!! THIS CAN'T HAPPEN?!!! YOUR THE GIRL OF MY DREAMS! I LOVE YOU!!!!".......the audiences reaction::huh:

It would have been better had Tobey had the time to let it sink in. Like he asks again "what did you say?". MJ repeats and slowly Peter's eyes tear up and he calmly asks why. He can't understand why this would, then he can start exclaiming that he loves her.

There's such a thing as a dramatic build up of emotion. When you take the time to let that pain sink in and let it build up inot this desperation, the job of conveying that emotionis done. But when you instantly overreact, then it becomes unbelievable.

My father died 3 days before the release and believe me, this is not how it feels...

The emotion in this movie came off as completely false, IMO.

Just thinking that few people laughed in so many theaters judging by this thread, it's a signal... usually, it's *normal* that *nobody laughs* in the very most of cases, that's about an elementar rule of acting...

Anyone who didn't cry when Mr. Freeze thought his wife was dead needs a shrink.

In reality, sometimes that is not the case. Peter doesn't have the time to just think it over. The nerd is desperate for her. She's the girl of his dreams. If he looses her now he might never get back. He's not experienced in relationships, talking things over, smoothing it out. He does exactly what I would expect him to. Instantly tries in desperation to comfort her, but he begins to get sad. For someone whose never had anybody his whole life, it's to be expected. Plus, he's super sensitive too.

And it's not that he instantly cried either. You've got that wrong.

In your opinion of course, while in mine I felt that the emotion towards the end came off with a more unrefined & unfeigned yet natural element to it.

No the audience didn't laugh. Select immature dolts laughed. In my theater there were only a handfull of people who laughed.

NO ONE In my theatre laughed. Of course, I went to the latest showing on Sunday night, so no school kids there, and NO ONE laughed. See the connection?

I understand what your saying, but if only Tobey could have done a better job acting wise. I wasn't pulled in. and I am right, he did instantly cry. It wasn't even the crying, it was the loud desperation that came first. Maybe it was the choppy editing, but he did burst out ridiculously and it was really uncalled for.

And when I mean "sink in" i'm talking about slow tears of pain, not unexpected loud rambling. Sure he's desperate, I would be too, but there has to be a build up no matter how small it may be. 6 seconds that's all I'm asking.

I have to watch the scene again to be sure.

So... what do you guys look like when you cry?

You are wasting your time bro. I've already asked that question In this thread, but people Ignored It. They are too busy looking at the Tobes going "Omgzor His face Is all scrunchy LOLOLOLOL" to realize how many people probably look the same when they are crying.

I didn't laugh, but I can see why some people did. The crying was so poorly done it was embarassing to watch.
