If you laughed at the crying then you probably....

I really hate it when people say things like this. Making such assumptions about people you don't know or know nothing about is extremely offensive and quite ridiculous.

I, personally, didn't have a problem with Tobey's acting during that scene. I thought that was one of his better performences in the movie, actually.

But I have laughed at actors/actresses crying when they've done what I feel is a bad job of it. And yes, I've lost people close to me. So I'm not some heartless idiot who doesn't know what it's like to feel loss. I'm just human...humans react to different things in different ways.

Flinging accusations around at random strangers probably isn't a wise idea. In all honesty, I don't feel that it's those that anyone is accusing of anything that lack maturity.

In response to some of the first posts on this thread:

Not everyone looks the same when they cry, some ppl actually do make goofy faces when they are in despair and emotionally overwhelmed.

So here is the scenario, you're at a Funeral and someone begins to cry with the goofiest funny face you have ever seen, are you going to laugh?

I know this was only a movie and so you where entitled to your actions (even if they are rude in the context of a theatre) but let's say this is Maguires actual crying face, would you laugh in his face for crying the way he does?

Just wondering. :)

People giggled (me incl.) during the breakup scene but that was only because it was a bad and forced scene.

When Harry was dying a couple people behind us laughed in the theater which kind of spoiled the (IMO) beautiful moment.

Besides the breakup the crying was well done though i wish there was less of it.
No, you gotta be kidding. His face was fine when he swung into the billboard. Stoping the train he looked ridiculous.

I don't understand the beef with his expression. How exactly is a person supposed to look when stopping a speeding train full of people?

Retroman is right, I actually thought that scene was incredibly well acted on Maguire's part... I mean the whole velocity and force of a train is on his back and he's gritting his teeth as hard as he can, I thought that was actually well don eand well thought out, how else is one supposed to look when stopping an entire train full of people except put all your strength into it...

the thing is, it's NOT how he exactly looks as he cries, sure he looks a little funny... the problem is HOW MANY BLOODY TIMES does he have to cry... like when Harry told him he was the other guy, he didn't cry, he was shocked and walked out... SEE THAT makes sense

the entire bridge scene was like WTF? he's crying like a todler who lost his toys at the drop of a hat as MJ breaks up with him.. i mean come on, MAN THE ***** UP...

Sandman crying, not needed. Spidey crying twice within span of 5 minutes, not needed... he should've just been like "I forgive you" and let that go, no need for a bollywood style melodramatic cry scene there, only at Harry's scene did it actually show and counted.

people laughed cuz of how many tears rolled down in this film when it wasn't necessary for most of it...

Just wait and see the kind of dramatics that happen in The Dark Knight and you will hardly see anyone cry though despite it being much much darker and heavy than the kind of drama spidey deals with.

The way Brandon Routh teared up as he flew away from Lois's house (stupid scene of spying but still), the subtlety of seeing how Lois has "moved on" as he flies in the air was excellent.. THAT was heartfelt... not the kind of constant overkill melodrama that was put here in Spidey 3

....never had someone close to you die, or had someone you truely loved.

My mother died of cancer 7 years ago, and I cried alot, so I guess that makes me emo. I choked up when I was saying my wedding vows to my wife. I cried when my children were born, so I guess that makes me emo too.

I actually feel bad for people who don't get the crying scenes, because when you are touched personally by a tragedy (and it's enevitable that we all will face it at one time or another), you will probably be totally unprepared for the grief you face.

You can make up words like "emo" to make you feel cool, but when tragedy strikes, it will hit you like a knife through the heart.

It seems like your a little too emotional....crying at your wedding? :whatever: :o

Could it be that people laughed at those scene because they saw something generally funny because I know I did not to mention the entire audience which were mostly full of adults. People just have different sense of humour than others, its no big deal. SM3 rocked!

Crying in certain movies makes people laugh because it takes them by suprise and makes them uncorfortable. Hardly anybody laughed when Ben Affleck cried in Jersey Girl but most people laughed until they cried when he cried in Armeggadon.

Wha??? You couldn't tell this was extreme strain TRYING TO STOP A FREAKING TRAIN?!!??!?! Go back and watch again til you learn....

This Is exactly It. Most people look funny, have scrunched up faces, and god knows what else looks crazy. I honestly can't understand how anyone can say he didn't pull off a convincing cry when most people look like schmucks when letting off some emotion...

wow, you are comparing real life tragedy to spiderman 3? you gotta be kidding me. i can understand for your loss;and im sorry, but this is stupid. some chessy saturday morning cartoon of a movie reminds you of this and youreupset because people laughed at it. i laughed through the whole movie. you have to be between the ages of 4-13 to find the spider-man movies good.

Try reading my posts before you write. I wasn't comparing real life tragedy to a movie. If you read what I wrote, I don't even compare it incases where it's a movie like Shindlers list, because at best it's a tribute to the real tragedy that happened, but I would never say the two are equateable.

What I am saying is when your best friend dies in front of you, you cry. It was a perfectly natural, human reaction. Saying it's "too emo" is crap.

KDavis the same applies for EVERY blockbuster, unrated R film. Lol.

But, guess what- it's for all AGES and the films ARE good. Stop confusing your opinion as fact bub, or I might have to slash you with Wolverine's adamantium claws!
:sym:

I thought the problem was about the acting in the movie. Not what happens/would happen in real life.

Sounds correct to me.

I've seen far worse acting in a lot of movies. This acting isn't excellent, but it's not bad either.
And he does look funny. But everyone looks funny when they cry, and showing that clip out of the context of the film doesn't make your argument.

IMO, you need to have an attention span greater than that of a 4 year old to appreciate it.
You're a damned fool.

When I lost my best friend to 9/11 I wept.

When I was shot in the stomach I cried.

When my Grandmother disappeared never to be found, I cried.

When my Fiance left me I cried.

How in the hell can ANY of you DARE label ANYONE or GENERALIZE anyone who LAUGHS AT A GOD DAMN MOVIE!!!!!!!

What the hell is WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!???

You guys have SERIOUS issues you have to iron out within yourselves. Because if you have it in your mind that everyone who "laughed at tobey while crying in the movie" are immature and unfamiliar with emotional tragedy then it's YOU who are immature and unfamiliar with LIFE.

GROW.
UP.

:o

you're right, i guess i should dumb myself down like the majority of the american population so i can be entertained by special effects, bad acting, and immature directing.

well played.

You're an indie fan... then what the hell are you doing in these parts of the forums?

And wow... a troll... whod'a thunk it huh- chump? Two posts. Wow, I know why you came on here now.

But, guess what- I don't give a ****. Your opinion to me means nothing, nada... you're nothing but garbage Davis. Lol. Oh, you want me to take you seriously? No thanks... there's nothing to take serious about you. Two posts and they're just right here. Unless you changed your screen name as well- but I find that a little hard to believe.

So, hmm... take offense from a troll or laugh at a troll... that's a tough one- isn't it? Let me get back to you on that one.

LMAOL!!!

Venom19. Congrats. You've just systematically proven every single point that Davis didn't even have to ATTEMPT to prove.

You have effectively PwNd yourself.

Good Job buddy. :cwink:

Nope, just a lot more agressive. It's fun giving into the dark side... really can't explain it. But, it's... addictive. It really is. Typing what you mean, holding no bars back... it's freeing, really. Makes you feel invincible, makes you feel good- on top of the world. I like being bad, it makes me happy.

Everyone should try it.

And, hmm... that troll thing? FACT. Check the number of posts and you try to guess why Davis came on here. Lol. Not that difficult to figure out, that is if you have a brain and the eyes to see that- that is. If it was Payaso that would be one thing- he's been here long enough. But, this chump hasn't.
