I'm Not Messing Around, I'm Doing Important Stuff in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

Just finished my Rebel Moon marathon. I might be finished altogether. ****. Snyder is a goddamn maniac for that. Six and a half hours of ugly sludge without an ounce of heart. I went in open-minded because I liked his cut of JL and considered the longer cut of BvS a clear improvement over the theatrical one, but this one might actually be WORSE with the added material. It's just empty gobbledygook without an original bone in its husk of a body. Holeeeeee crap.
Turns out, when he doesn’t have WB’s oversight and a great, cinematographer, writer and editor to keep his worse instincts and impulses in check and elevate his material, Zack Snyder is just another mediocre film director making films worthy of the bargain bin at Walmart.
Women in suits, one of my greatest weaknesses.

The big issue with pairing up Superman alongside or against characters like The Authority is it just becomes an annoying game of ‘Look how much better the character I like is than THESE guys’ disguised as an ethical statement. Treating Superman as a superior counterpoint to ‘edgy’ characters is always just cloying and vacant, imo, and instantly feels so incredibly defensive that it inevitably backfires.

It sucks we will never probably see The Authority movie because they do offer up a different take on superheroes.

A superhero team with a Malcolm X "by any means necessary" idea of making the world a better place is such a fun take on the genre. The villains being backed by governments and corporations who want to keep the status quo is still very timely as well.

It's funny that Apollo is a knock off Superman and the Elite were created as a pastiche of the Authority.

It's come to my attention by a couple friends on this site that I've become somewhat of a polarizing member here at The Hype, which was never my intention. I just wanted to take a moment to set the record straight...

I have absolutely NO personal issues with ANYONE who posts here. Are there members here whose online personas don't resonate with me? Well of course! That's just the nature of the beast. I don't expect my persona to resonate with everyone here, either. That would be a statistical anomaly! However, does that mean I dislike those folks on a personal level or consider them enemies? Don't be ridiculous :whatever:

I continue to post here because I've talked to folks who are going through some pretty serious issues in their personal lives, and they have told me that my presence here has made things "better" for them. That means more to me than I can possible say, and I intend to be here for those folks as long as they feel that way.

You folks had a thriving community here long before I came along and I have no intentions of disrupting that. I wish nothing but the absolute best to everyone who posts here, so please ignore any chatter going on behind the scenes. I don't have the time, or quite frankly the energy, to carry on feuds with strangers on internet message boards :yay:
I know there have been a few "feuds" in here over the years, but I'm genuinely surprised that anyone would feel that way about you. You've always been nothing but kind and respectful on a personal level and smart and interesting when it comes to your takes on art and entertainment. Don't feel discouraged, there's a ton of us here that value your presence :prideheart:

So to sum up:

Spiderman Brand New Day is a grounded fresh start about Peter taking on Tombstone, Scorpion and Boomerang. And also Mister Negative played by Steven Yeun…maybe. He will team up with The Hulk and Punisher. Oh and ALSO it will be a full length team up with Tobey and Andrew and be a multiverse adventure that kickstarts Doomsday and Secret Wars! And Daredevil will appear. Maybe. Oh and Silver Samurai will also be a villain and Viper…from The Wolverine?

Oh and Sadie Sink is playing Mayday Parker and will probably date Peter.

$2 billion movie easy.

That Giganto clip going around is neat, but man does it look awful. Whatever happened to actually lighting daytime scenes?

Edit: Guess it's for a pizza ad, so I'll cut it some slack. If I see that **** in the movie though :o

Hey BG, not sure who has been giving you **** on this site, but those people can go kick rocks. You’ve always been 100% kind and positive towards me and any other posters I’ve seen you interact with. I’m sorry that some folks here have made you feel unwelcome. That’s really crappy and I hope you decide to stick around because you make this forum better. ❤️

Nah you're awesome, don't listen to the haters

I've never once seen a post from you I would consider offensive or anything close to that BG. You're awesome and ALWAYS respectful from what I have observed as well as being kind and interesting on top.

Don't you dare consider leaving this place.

You are arguably the sweetest person on this board. It is NEVER that serious for one to beef with someone on the internet that they don't even know.

Tell those folks to get a grip, Sis. :hrt:

Aww, thanks folks! Your friendship and support mean more to me than I could ever express :hrt:

And to anyone here who feels they may have gotten off on the wrong foot with me, please feel free to drop me a line anytime to say hi. I don't bite, I promise!

Well, maybe sometimes I do :cwink:

I love The Wolverine and am not a fan of MCU Spider-Man. But I guess enjoy your version of them (theoretically).

The Wolverine has got to be one of the most frustraing cbms of all time. The first 2/3rds of it are near Dark Knight level good and its building up to something incredible and then…. It nosedives into cgi campiness that betrays the movie’s tone. Its like you could literally feel the Fox suits ripping the movie from Mangold’s hands in the last 30 minutes and getting somebody else to finish it.

Paste Pot Pete. He teams up with Mandrill and that guy Carol Danvers gives birth to. You heard it here first.

It would make zero sense to me to have Viper and Silver Samurai as prominent bad guys in a Spider-Man movie. So hoping this is BS
I'm getting the vibe there is a lot of folks trying to make connections based on potential castings they're not even sure about and it's causing chaos. :funny:
