Production isn’t scheduled to get started until late summer and with a VFX heavy sequel such as this one, a fall 2026 theatrical release is within reach. The Reeves’ movie will have Imax screens.

The Deadline article says it still plans to shoot late summer which is absurd. How can you shoot from August/September until the end of the year and then have the thing sitting in post for nearly two whole years?

An acceptable compromise would be if they were shooting II + III back-to-back but Reeves is such a slow writer there’s no chance he could write two scripts in a suitable timeframe for that to happen.

Just waiting on all the sycophantic nerds acting like it’s no big deal for a sequel to take 5 and a half ****ing years. You guys have been in denial for a long time, maybe this delay will finally make you realize REEVES IS A SLOWPOKE. We need more Batman onscreen. Let other filmmakers work with Battinson or make progress on a recast for the Gunnverse. Either way- this 5.5 year wait between movies is unacceptable. Who knows how much longer audiences will even care about superhero movies?

Yes, I'm sure after nearly 40 years of Batman movies, 2027 will finally be the year audiences won't be interested in the character.

Might as well write the script for Part III and shoot them back-to-back then. At least then you can sell a year gap between II and III.

Im actually pissed off at this news but honestly this would be the way to go if you want the trilogy. Realistically i can't see Part 3 happening now man. Too much influence from the DCU.

If that is the case, I'll be very, very upset with Gunn. I took him at his word that we'd have a mainline DCU as well as Elseworlds projects. I do not appreciate all of this pussyfooting around, only for him to lose his nerve at the end.

In any case, five and a half years between movies is an enormous risk just from a general enthusiasm standpoint. You're already seeing some burnout with the hardcore fanbase. Are audiences going to be there for this by the time we get to 2027?

The delay for the sequel definitely sucks; but - it's Batman. I think it's gonna have an audience no matter what. As long as Rpattz and Reeve are back I think it'll be fine -- outside of the wait.

Not surprised, but certainly annoyed to say the least. No wonder Reeves is talking about another season of The Penguin all of the sudden—there’s nothing else even close to being ready. What’s been happening since 2022? Surely that has to be other hidden elements at play adding to this development hell, be it Gunn’s hiring or otherwise.

If this actually gets made, and barring any further delays—if there’s a 5 year gap between film releases, surely the sequel can’t take place a few weeks after the original as Reeves has previously mentioned? So maybe this thing will get a significant overhall. Pattinson’s knocking on 40 lol he’s definitely not a Year 2 Batman anymore

Just fire Muschietti already and get to work on BATB if it’s gonna have a new actor. Reeves is taking too ****ing long this is ridiculous. Way too slow of a worker and The Batman wasn’t even TDK level. Not worth the wait if the second movie is just as good as the first.
