If filming starts this year but the movie comes out in October 2027, what will Matt Reeves be doing in 2026?

Almost 2 years of post-production is crazy

I mean TB1 wrapped filming a year almost to the date of when it actually released and TB2's only starting filming in summer. Roughly 9 months of filming (which is what it would've been had COVID not been an issue) gives Reeves an extra half a year of post production. Which is a lot, but also can depend on how much more VFX heavy the movie is

Congrats to Colin…The Penguin joins The Joker in that elite “Batman rogues with awards gold” club.

Wishing Reeves all the best with whatever went on his personal life, but glad he seems to be in good spirits and fired up about the movie. The delay still does seem a bit extreme in that shooting got pushed maybe a few months, while the release date got pushed an entire year. My guess is this is to give maximum flexibility with the script still unfinished, and maybe there’s still a chance it moves back to spring if it stays on the intended schedule like The Batman did. Here’s hoping things go smooth from here.

I think that’s exactly the reason. I have a feeling it’s gonna move forward to early 2027, but i don’t wanna get my hopes up too much lol. Hopefully things start firing up pretty soon!

The first one was supposed to film for 5/6 months iirc

It's time for you and other people to back off. Reeves all but confirmed the delays are the result of personal challenges last night. You have all had your say. Shut it down or else infractions are incoming.

Even Forbes is telling people to back off out of basic humanity:
It’s Clear We Need To Back Off Matt Reeves About ‘The Batman Part 2’

THANK YOU.

Gunn, Reeves, and all of those involved chose to delay the film that long for a reason. Nitpicking about how long they have for post production is a waste of internet.

Time to give Matt some space & rev up the hype engines knowing that news is on the horizon.

I admit I lost a little bit of excitment with the delay, not gonna lie. But it's great to see Reeves talking, as always. His excitement is contagius, he clearly loves the Bat universe and I don't think Part II won't dissapoint. I'm happy he's fine, apparently. This delay isn't normal, but it is what it is.
That's okay. You don't have to keep up constant excitement about a movie day by day. You're gonna be excited once news, pics and trailers hit anyway, lmao.

I mean, clearly he is getting 'his time'. Five and a half years of it.

If production/filming is to start this year, I really wonder why it was pushed to 2027 - because clearly that means it isn't a script-taking-too-long issue.
I told everyone to lay off. Reeves is having personal challenges. The discussion of the delay has been done to death.

Reeves' enthusiasm in his interviews is great.

With Colin's win and the penguin nominations, I'm sure that also helps with casting great actors and getting them to sign on for more and potentially an HBO series.

I also would not be surprised if HBO is itching for another series based on a villain as I would imagine a second season of the penguin is off limits until the sequel arrives (provided they have an idea).

I really think there was more to those joker rumours, whether he was the main focus or part of an ensemble. I'm hoping to hear something this year about the batverse expansion more than anything.

I mean I’m sorry to say guys but that was very much not an outright no, or even an “I doubt it but you never know”. He kept it verrrry open-ended and didn’t seem diametrically opposed to it down the line. I don’t think anyone would be wrong to speculate. It could mean nothing, he’s a good poker player. But yeah.

Truth be told I'm having a hard time reading Matt here. Can't tell if he's just giving a PC, non-committal answer, or if there is genuine heat to these rumors.

I love Matt and James but I really need both of them to just says specifically that Battison either will or won’t be in the DCU. Cause this kinda stuff is just gonna cause more speculation and stuff

I get what you're saying here and mostly I would agree, but why not wait until superman comes out in order to make that decision and disclose it publicly.

If superman fails at the box office, you don't have to tie your batverse that is successful to it and just continue on with the party line that it's separate. You can have your cake and eat it too.

It's not like it's a decision that needs to be made right now anyways. The batman sequel and brave and the bold are years away at this point.
