I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

Is there a possibility that Reeves hands the director chair over to someone else for the sequel and becomes a producer or executive producer (similar to his role on The Penguin or Batman Cape Crusader)?

I don’t get the idea that another push kills the film? Because it’ll be 6 years instead of 5? And am I the only one who thinks the 2027 push was the accommodation? What’s been going on w Reeves has been rumored since late last year.

Oh no, I think the push absolutely was the accommodation too. It’s why I don’t think it’ll get an actual serious push again. Nothing indicates it won’t be able to shoot at the end of the year.

When Reeves briefly commented on his situation, he made it sound like whatever it was was behind him, so I kinda suspect Batman’s already got his focus again, and that start date was chosen to accommodate everyone else’s schedule more than anything.

Grace Randolph hints that Matt Reeves is going through a medical emergency.

“It’s not what Chadwick Boseman went through but it’s pretty close”.
No clue if that is accurate, but if it is, then that is sick of her to disclose that.

new user here. Matt Reeves signed on in 2017. it took 2 years to get a blip of info on The Batman (yea for 2 years, people thought Ben Affleck was playing him still). I liked the batman alot, was it worth the wait for 5 years + another 5 to continue the story, thats a No for me.

Batman is my favorite by far but im sorry, any of the seasons of Daredevil has been better then any Batman live action content IMO. If Matt Reeves cant do this, he should never have took this on. Where is WB (his employer) pushing him to finish this

I've "gotten over" the wait bothering me after all its just a film and at this point the options are either.

1. Be upset for the next two years and don't see it.

2. Let two years pass and then see it.

And it's not like there's not other comic book things coming if that's what you want (I'm excited for a few projects from both studios) and there's also plenty of other non-comic high caliber films coming if that's what you want. It'll be over in a blink of an eye.

You are new here, so I am going to assume that you don't know. Complaining about The Batman delays are a banned topic. Reeves and several industry sources have made it clear that Reeves has suffered some personal tragedies in the last couple years that have delayed the development of Part II. So lay off the guy.

People who don't comply with this direction are subject to disciplinary action, including banning.

Jeff Sneider believes Matt Reeves will step down if the movie isn’t up and running in the next few months. He says WB executives are frustrated and there will be no more delays granted to him. WB needs the character back on the big screen since he’s the company’s most important asset.

After how they treated Muse? Hell no lmao.

And once again, everyone's forgetting the COVID setbacks, the strikes, and whatever Reeves himself is dealing with. There were outside factors at play that halted production and naturally the release date of the film itself.

Yea thats fair but unfortunately James Gunn announced, wrote, casted, shot and will release superman in 2 years…

Yea thats fair but unfortunately Matt Reeves writes his scripts scene by scene/act by act until he's satisfied, was halted by the strikes, and has been dealing with some gravely personal events in his life for at least a year....

It also took Gunn 6 years to make Vol. 3. What's that you say, there was some personal issues? Well I didn't know we were considering those now.
Im not a Marvel guy but isn't he at the mercy of fitting the movie into the other films timeline. 3 years tops is a more then reasonable time for Matt Reaves to get a movie out.

James Gunn also hasn't had a to deal with serious personal issues in the meantime, as far as we know.

And different writers have different tempos.

At this point the questioning should've come to an end already, right? We know the underlying issue. Let's move onto other things in life. Read some Batman comics in the meantime. Hush 2 is currently being published and even better, MATT FRACTION'S WRITING THE MONTHLY TITLE IN A FEW MONTHS !

Also lol @ the Daredevil series being better than any Batman adaptation.

Vol.3 was 100% delayed because of issues regarding Gunn. Issues that were uh

a little bit more public

Hence Gunn probably being quite sympathetic and accomodating for Reeves

Gunn's issues were of a very different kind, and if anything fueled his productivity even more, as he got the DC gig in the meantime, while Disney was in the process of ****ing up the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.

We might not have had a new Superman movie coming this year, had it not been for that whole debacle. Which goes on to show, **** happens for a reason.

Let's just go with the flow. And have some respect for Matt Reeves in the meantime.

I'm in wait and see mode , on this whole situation with The Batman II.

Ultimately, this is show business.

Plans change, things are delayed, deals fall through , etc .

I'm not gonna say what will or won't happened because, at the end of the day, I'm on the outside and not in the know of the whole situation

So, I'm just going to have to wait to see how things shake out .
