I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

Calm down. Your metaphor denotes it as low quality, hence the question.
Well to be frank I think the Batman had flaws. A similar situation. We waited from the beginning of 2017 to 2020 for him to complete that script. And the “”epic noir mystery”” was falcone was the rat… was that the tertiary bad guy who is corrupt and runs the city… is a bad guy who is corrupt and runs the city. I was let down

No because if I was I’d be so far up his ass with how long he’s taking to make part 2 he’d have a full gray head of hair right now

I KNOW you’re not about to argue that Batman 2 is not his actual main project as opposed to Bruce timms caped Crusader and Laura lefrancs penguin? Because that would be a very. Very. Very. Very. Bad argument to make
It's a very good thing you aren't his boss then.

It literally doesn't. Because I understand that different people have different creative processes.
Alright look. I understand that. Both intellectually and emotionally.

Alllll I’m saying skywalker… all I’m saying. Is that it just seems like. It’s taking a littleeee long. For a follow up to his very… umm… decent. Batman movie.

Every movie does.

As to the "wait" for the first movie. Are you unaware of what has happened at WB over the last decade?

Okay but instead of just dismissing me behind the empty “every movie has flaws” how about actually addressing the flaw I mentioned

Almost like The Batman isn't going for a shocking twist and the fact Falcone is essentially the antagonist is baked into the movies narrative and thematic DNA.

Also: the twist twist is Riddler being a Batman groupie.
As one who has a lot of complaints about The Batman (I love it) I always find it weird when a lot of the discourse around it seem to come down to a very surface level reading of it.

Almost like people don't care about what the movie is actually about and are only interested in Batman iconography!

Lol, okay. Then your actually successful, critically acclaimed franchise at your floundering studio whose name is a byword for terrible superhero movies is over. Flawless victory.
Franchise continues boy. You seen captain Fantastic? It’s a beautiful and fantastic movie. It’s leagues better than cloverfield and let me in. It’s better than dawn. And I like it about the same or more than war.

Also in case you’re not aware, I’m name dropping Ross because he was WB 2nd option if reeves wasn’t interested in 2016/17

Cool. That's how you get slop. The Batman is Matt Reeves's take on the characters, what's the point of continuing that with someone else?

Captain Fantastic is indeed a great movie. Would love to see Matt Ross make a Batman movie someday!

Okay A. A mystery noir with no twist is poorly written so I’m still right. B. Get out of here watch that scene again it is staged, acted and directed as a twist. It’s supposed to be a shocking reveal. Don’t be silly now

So… you thought that was a good reveal? The mystery had you guessing? You felt suspense and intrigue?
I don't give a **** about any of that. That's just superficial plot stuff. I find Falcone a super compelling, haunting antagonist and what the movie is saying about old rapey men and what they've done to society is way more interesting than trying to go for a Shocking Swerve.

And, again, the actual twist is Riddler being a Batman groupie. Which, yes, was super effective for me.

Ah yes. Slop from another writer director of a masterful movie

You know reeves got his start as “continuing with someone else” on apes? Yeah. He was just hired cause he told them he could get dawn out on time (lol) and Rupert Wyatt wasn’t playing ball and wanted more time to make dawn more special/spectacular

Yeah just surface level stuff like… the plot. The script. The mystery in a mystery movie.
