I agree, but they have spoken about a second season of the penguin, I just think that it would make the most sense after the batman part II because there may be more story threads to create a need for a second season. What could they possibly do with a season two of The Penguin that would live up to the first season? They told the story they needed to tell, and that story was told to its natural conclusion.
It would probably be a better idea to just do a show about someone else, like Catwoman.
Agreed. I’m going to give Reeves the benefit of the doubt and assume there’s something more going on behind the scenes, whether it is personal or corporate.I get the frustration of waiting so long... But people are being ridiculous in here with their reactions. Sorry.
You know that's coming...lol...of all the iterations of Bats, I have to be honest, physically imposing and all on screen, nothing beats the warehouse scene in BVS as unbelievable as it was, it was fantastic to watch. Snyder's version was a beefed-up disillusioned vigilante, and it was fun. Christian bale as well. I absolutely loved THE BATMAN, which was cinematically amazing, had that crime noir, david fincher seven vibe, and Pattison did a decent job. However, every time he is Bruce Wayne I just can't get past how innocent and thin and almost scrawny he portrays...but the story is awesome and the suit etc, as well as finally letting him be a detective was a very nice and welcome change. Maybe in five years if he hasn't at least bulked up a little, he will hopefully have aged for the sincere look. It's funny to me actually because as well as this movie did, I don't know one person who really liked it that much other than myself off the internet. My co-workers, my friends and family all say "Best batman was Keaton, or best batman was Bale" And when I ask if they saw the new one it's always "Yeah it was ok, but they should've used someone else to be batman."Also, in before the “PATTINSON HAD 4 YEARS TO BULK UP AND HE STILL LOOKS SKINNY” crowd shows up lol.
The reality of the situation is ,that this is the film industry, and even best laid plans change ,quite often.
While I'm not of the " on the bright side" state of mind, with regards to the delay , I appreciate, from following the developments of these and other properties for decades,
that there are no guarantees, despite pronouncements by studios, directors, or actors, at a given time.
Things change .
I think we all agree that it's unfortunate that The Batman 2 has been delayed.
There's no sugar coating that.
But , it is what it is , and we'll just have to wait to see how things shake out with the production .
Agreed. This is a disappointing update after originally being announced for 2025. Then 2026. Now 2027.
Me stating my disappointment is not a sign that I’m saying I’m owed this movie, by any means. And I don’t think Batman is going out of fashion by 2027. But as a fan of this iteration of the character (despite the flaws of first film’s script), I am excited to see this story continue.
And, yes, it does seem odd to me that not even a first draft has been handed in. I understand being a perfectionist, but this is Batman here. Reeves, for all his right choices in Pt I, didn’t dramatically reinvent the mythos or flip the universe on its head—between him, his co-writer, and the decades of comic source material, there’s nothing to show yet? Of course I have empathy for Reeves if there’s something in his personal life, but we really have no idea there. Absolutely wish him and his loved ones the best; that takes precedent over Batman.
So sure, let this man cook. I’ll be here to see a new Batman movie in 2027 or whenever it’s eventual release is set. But I get just as annoyed when a comic writer’s run is significantly delayed between issues—it doesn’t make a lick of difference when the trade paperback is released (or when these films will be listed next to each other on MAX down the road), sure, but it’s a bummer in the moment none-the-less. Should be okay to express that and talk what-ifs in a fan forum—especially since we now have an extra year before any casting rumors, plot details, etc.
It simply comes back to how much money TB2 winds up making. If it makes a batjillion dollars, as I said, none of this will matter one bitI also don't feel entitled as a fan for " Batman Films on Demand" .
I've basically gotten what I wished for back in the 90s, which is for CB Movies and TV to be as common a genre as thrillers, cop films, comedies, etc.
So , I don't feel I'm owed a Batman film in 2026 .
That being said, I've never been a fan who sugarcoats a bad situation, or an unfortunate circumstance, regardless if I'm rooting for the property, or not .
That's gotten me into alot of debates and arguments with fellow fans over the years, with regards to bad news.
But as a fan, if I think a situation doesn't look great, I say it .
At the same time, This is Hollywood , and stuff happens.
Ultimately, all I can do as a fan, is wait for the product to be finished.

Of course there have been longer breaks between sequels but I also understand why other posters are upset. 5 and a half years is a long time and I don't think the examples used by Gunn are necessarily accurate. There have been longer breaks between sequels.
I personally do not feel or understand the entitlement.
I love The Batman and I will be happy if and when Matt Reeves will make a sequel to it.
