I agree, Heath was wonderful in Candy:up:. I love his scenes with Geoffrey Rush.

Don't know about that, but damn if I won't stand up and clap loudly at the "In Memory" or whatever they do at the end.

I will start the standing O in my theater...IMAX...midnight! RIP Heath.

I wonder where Candy was shot in Australia ? Great movie, amazing performance by Heath.

During the movie itself? I probably won't at all. But when it's over? I wouldn't be surprised if I get a bit weepy.

I reckon as much for me too. On the way home, in the car thinking about what I have just seen...oh you bet I'll be shedding some tears. I hope to be too riveted to the screen to cry during the film though.

can i ask a question is the reason he commited suicide was because of some of the stuff joker did in this movie, i heard that some of the stuff he did in the movie was over the top and made him a little depressed its just something i heard.

no that is just hype for the joker role by tabloid people.

for some reason I believe it was filmed in Sydney. there was an incident on the set with a paparazzi that was widely blamed for driving Ledger out of Australia for good, the final straw. it happened in a kind of trendy bohemian suburb we have here so I remember that. i think. otherwise the locations in Candy are pretty nondescript iirc, it could be any city

yeah it's my favorite Heath Ledger movie. for once a junkie who's not an absolute piece of shiit

Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info, Nep, Candy is also my favorite Heath Ledger movie.

Agreed. I had already planned on giving the film a standing ovation, I just hope I don't get teary-eyed.

Christian Doesn't Think Heath's Death Was Joker-Related

Heath Ledger wasn't driven mad by Joker, says noted weirdo Christian Bale.

Although Jack Nicholson ominously said, "Well, I warned him," after Heath Ledger's death, his co-star Christian Bale doesn't believe the 28-year-old was driven mad by playing the Joker.

The shady circumstances leading up to Heath's death, including complaints of insomnia and a slavish devotion to his character, fed into gossip that the role had given him demons in a way that no cutie bad-boy hunk with ten reasons to hate role ever did.

But just because Heath wouldn't stop channeling the Joker while on the set of The Dark Knight doesn't mean he had problems. "Heath was somebody who, like myself, acted for that immersion in a character," Christian told Total Film magazine. "It's not an unusual thing. And from working with him and knowing him, I don't think that was unusual for him at all."

Note that this is the same actor who dropped 55 pounds to play a pilot stranded in the jungle in Rescue Dawn, so his idea of normal might be just a tad skewed.
Anyone seen this article? Damnit, that just makes me mad. I don't get angry at articles, but that guy is just a *****e.

"I wondered if he was going to be somebody who would inhabit the character at all times. But he didn't at all. He was really amazing in that he could turn it on and then switch it off between takes."
-Emma Thomas

"Yeah, it's the most fun I've had playing a role. I'm really surprised Chris knew that I could do it, or thought that I had something in me like this. And I don't know how he came to cast me to do it. But yeah, it is the bomb. It's it's definitely the most fun I've had in the most freedom I had and the work schedule is great. I work two days and have three weeks off. It's been like that for six months."
-Heath Ledger

Yeah, because that sounds like a man so haunted by the role, right? Surely his death had nothing to do with anxieties about not seeing his daughter, or the fact that he had the flu and was taking multiple medications. No, he died because of the Joker.

Yea he is a *****e. He even dissed Bale.

Yeah, the moron isn't even reporting the news. Just twisting it to further his own unsubstantiated opinion. Like, rather than just stating the facts: "Ledger's co-star says playing The Joker didn't drive him to his death", he says, "Ledger's co-star says playing The Joker didn't drive him to his death, but we should just ignore his opinion, because he's a nut." Hell, even look at the tag. He immediately shows his prejudice by stating the source of Heath's defense is a "noted weirdo".

Yes, lets disregard the testament of a co-star who worked extensively with Heath Ledger. But the drunken remark of an actor who I don't think even met Ledger should be treated with the utmost seriousness, and as concrete evidence that The Joker is responsible for Ledger's death.
