Incredible Hulk 2

Eh, I would say it is accurate that a movie has to gross double its budget in order to be profitable *in theaters*. And certainly, studios care about that a lot, such that failing to do so is at least a certain degree of failure ( possible exception: movies deliberately created with the intent of merchandising ). Its just that this is not the whole story, and there is a whole spectrum of success between "smashing hit" and "Green Lantern".

Whether Marvel is afraid or not a hulk sequel at this point in time is near guaranteed to make bank, unless the movie is utter garbage. The popularity boost after The Avengers, Avengers Assemble cartoon, Hulk and the agents of Smash cartoon, and soon to be Avengers 2 would be the perfect foundation to build upon when it comes to a sequel. People went nuts over Hulk and Ruffalos new look Banner, and hulk is more popular now than he's ever been.

If a movie has a 200 million budget and spends 100 million more in marketing, i´d say it would have to gross around 700 million to make a profit, and it wouldn´t be a big profit. Don´t forget that a % of the gains goes to the theaters, and studios also pay taxes.

Now that we have more established characters in the MCU, I think a new Hulk film would work a lot better. He would need to be teamed with someone though. If not Iron Man (which would be fantastic, but doubt it will happen) then either use this as a jumping in for a new hero to work along side him or bring in one of the existing MCU heroes. Hulk is someone that needs to work off of another character.

I think an Hulk and Black Widow team up could be interesting. But someone with powers might work better.

Instead a movie for each character they could just make a movie with the Hulk and Black Widow.

Cool! Would be great to see him show up along side Ross in TIH2

Good, pretty sure some people in this very thread argued that Ang's Hulk tied into The Incredible Hulk, now that can finally be put to rest.

I hope that Ty Burrell can be brought into the Agents of SHIELD TV show. He's already on ABC's Modern Family, it shouldn't be a big deal for him to be brought in as a guest, maybe next season. Both shows should still be on the air.

Little OT but what is your guys top 3 favourite Hulk scenes? (all movies and TV)

Mine would probably be:

#1 Leaping across the desert and Mountains (HULK)
#2 Smashing up & throwing the Tanks (HULK)
#3 Standing facing Blonsky and viciously kicking him (The Incredible Hulk)

For Animation it would be either Pummelling Thor almost to Death, or picking up the Battering Ram and throwing it through the gate to Asgard (Hulk vs Thor Animated Movie)

Hulk holding Betty at the campus (TIH)
Cave scene (TIH)
Hulks arrival in harlem (TIH)
Hulks final run (TIH)
everything (Avengers)

  1. Hulk vs. Abomination, TIH
  2. Hulk vs Frye's Creature, TV episode "The First"
  3. Leaping through the desert, Ang Lee's Hulk

Um, no. Just because it doesn't break even in theaters doesn't mean its a flop. It means it didn't do well, but "doesn't do well" and "flop" are *not synonymous*. Flop really means "the studio takes a bath on the movie", which is not the case when it only just misses going black in theaters. A flop would be if a 150M budget movie only made 200M in theaters, leaving it with a long struggle to *maybe* break even post-release.

( and a bomb would be when a 150M budget movie makes 100M in theaters, assuring that it will never escape the red ink )

Where do you characterize a movie like Jonah Hex that didn't even make 1/4 of its budget back? Mega-bomb? Uber-bomb? Seriously, how did WB screw up so much on that one?

It would have been cool to see the Autumn Bros in that one, for no other reason than to hear the Winter Brothers have a conniption in the media.

That could be an interesting pairing. But, I see her being a big player in Cap 3.

The teaming up idea is about the best thing for Hulk.
One of the reasons he was so great in the Avengers is because of the way he plays off of other super characters.

How about Thor needing to elicit his help?

Hulk's desert run (Hulk)
Hulk vs. Tanks (Hulk)
Bruce/Betty in the hospital (Hulk)

TIH has great scenes, but imo, Hulk nailed everything about the character better, except the villain.

Its best to not include marketing in the consideration, as marketing costs are far more subject to Hollywood accounting. A lot of it is covered by trades of consideration ( "right to use IP" for "contractual promise to use IP" ), which really isn't the same thing as paying out actual dollars.

Pretty much. Norton was the better Banner though, IMO. Bixby's still has yet to be topped, however.

Yeah, I agree for the most part. I think Norton was a better Banner, but Bana was great too. However, Ruffalo is my favorite. It's a shame he won't be getting his own Hulk solo anytime soon, imo.

Nearly 50 years of Hulk material to resource from. Hulk has gone from raging beast, to gangster, to scientist, to barbarian warrior etc. If those ideas worked in the comics, I can't see why it can't translate onto the big screen.

I like what they did with Hulk in the cartoon, Avengers Earth's mightiest hero. Giving him intelligence could work, even for a short term. I actually think a fractured psyche with a rotating personality would be just as fun and unpredictable as the raging monster that where used to seeing.

Old School, baby.:awesome: No one can touch Bixby. Those Hulk Outs were second to none. They have really yet to produce a Hulk Out that was an "event" the way the TV show did.

...any word from William Hurt on coming back as Ross-- and Red Hulk?
