Indy 5

I actually enjoyed KotCS for the most part. I can look past some of the godawful parts, and the fridge thing didn't bother me. It was over the top but I wasn't sitting in the theatre thinking, **** that!.

Hey, a 500 hundred year old knight and jumping out of an airplane with a raft is also over the top. But all in a great way. The fridge was classic Indy. The warehouse scene felt like Jones too. It was a great introduction to him. Him getting pulled out of the car and all the Russians pointing their guns at him.

Indy climbing underneath a truck and getting to the end without falling and getting run over and after all the **** that happened to him before without tiring is pretty over the top too.

The only truly terrible moment I hate in KOTCS is the monkey scene. Everything else I really liked. Also, watched this last night on bluray and I am still confident that the alien at the end was all in Spalco's head. She stared into the eyes and it made her go crazy. The ship did take off but it was just returning home. It goes along with the whole return theme. The skull had to be returned so that the ship could return home.

The monkey scene could have easily been deleted. It actually would have been better if Mutt just looked at the monkey (remember that close up of the monkey?) and then cut right to the chase and then Mutt swings out of the forest and hits into Spalko.

Yes, but it had been 20 years since the last movie and the fans wanted wacky hi-jinks, so they gave it to them. And boy, the fans sure were grateful.

I like Mutt. And I especially liked how Indy owns him all the time.

The hat moment at the end was ****ing great. When I saw it, I was pretty disapointed by the film in the theater (before I came to my senses), so when the hat blew through the door and Shia was about to put it on his head and then Indy took it away, I had a huge sigh of relief. Great moment.

Exactly. Indy has always been over the top. It's being over the top combined with too much cheese that kills it, and that essentially was the monkey scene. Again, the alien stuff, I was kinda meh on, had they done what you suggested a few pages back, basically just keep the aliens more off screen, I would have been more okay with it.

Raiders, TOD, and Crusade are all full of cheese...TOD however is the cheese king.

Yeah, but in a good way. Me and my son just finished watching it and i'm grinning from ear to ear... "Willie....we. are going. to DIE!":awesome:

I saw KOTKS the other day for the first time since seeing it on the big screen, and it's not as bad as i remember. The first half is classic Indy, it's when they meet up with Marion that it starts to go down hill for me. Take away the monkey swinging, hide the Aliens and it's a pretty good Indy entry. I would have preferred it if it was never made, personally.

TOD is just too inappropriate... and Golgo, who is that in your avyy??

In my opinion the cheesiness of ToD is what makes it. It is the ultimate pulp adventure film because it goes all the way. That film more than any other I've seen reminds me of the classic Doc Savage and The Shadow pulp novels of the 30s and 40s in it's ideas, lighting, setting, over the top violence, over the top grotesque scenes, etc. If you can't stomach cheese then there is no maybe on the fact that these movies are not for you, no matter how much you lie and pretend they are.

ToD is the most well paced of all the 3 original movies. You can't close your eyes for a second in that movie, or you feel like you've just missed something. I remember leaving the theater after seeing it, and feeling 110% entertained. As much as love Raiders and LC, there are parts in it that drag a bit...especially in Crusade.

I liked the last Indiana Jones movie, so I'm looking forward to this one!

How about... To make the last Indiana Jones film go with the 4... Have Indy go try to find the lost city of atlantis, to find out he has to go to the bermuda triangle, then when he gets there... He discovers the Nazi's have been looking for the city for years and the Nazi's are the ones behind all the strange happenings there. Lost planes, boats, people etc.

Speilberg will never do cartoony Nazis ever again, so that isn't happening.

While TOD is my least favorite of the original trilogy, that line is one of my favorite's in the series. It's right up there with a few other personal fav's

"Asps....very dangerous.....you go first."

"What's that?"
"The Ark of the covenant."
"Are you sure?"
"Pretty sure."

"How did you know?"
"She talks in her sleep."

and of course

"....Bad dates."
