Have the spear of destiny mixed in with good old fashioned nazis that are trying to rebuild the empire after Hitler's demise and maybe even some evil religious group that want it. The spear gives its holder the power to rule a nation. It has supposedly been passed down from generation to generation. Have it had been in England during the time of Kings and Queens such as Henry VII. You could even throw in the Shroud of Turin as a stop on the hunt for the spear. You could even have Indy start in the Middle East looking for the site at which Jesus was crucified and maybe even stop by to see some Sallah!
The Bermuda Triangle but bleh.
I don't like the Bermuda Triangle idea. It would still be nice to have a physical object. I saw on some Indy board someone suggested these stairs for time travel or something. But that would go too far I think. Then people would demand to see Indy back in the 30's again.
Plus time travel has been used alot these days.
Yeah, I tried looking on the internet as well. I couldn't find anything that was remotely interesting enough as a plot device. I wonder what the hell Lucas has thought of to go after. It could be something that will make us go "of course" when we hear about it. Was the crystal skull something that people speculated on before there was an Indy 4?
Excalibur is an idea, but I don't know how strong that would be. I wouldn't mind seeing that. Maybe it's because it's the only thing I can think of.
That too. All it is a sword thought to be from legend. What does the enemy gain from obtaining it? It just can't be a heavy object. I have no clue either.
I don't know if I want to see magic like sorcery and wizardry in a Jones film. But who knows?
Zombies on the other hand. God yes. But Army of the Dead took that idea.

I think pulling a man's beating heart out of his chest, somehow allowing him to survive, and then having the heart spontaneously combust counts as some sort of magic. Besides, all the climaxes involve supernatural stuff in some way, so it really wouldn't be that much of a departure (unless Indy's throwing fireballs the entire time, but hey, who doesn't love a good hadouken?)
Hmmm...That could be really interesting.
Even the Mummy movies that S. Sommer did with the curse & Egyptian loot stole a few more ideas from Indy. I think those were discovered in 50's too.
