If you look at the picture in Empire magazine, you will see 4 travelers walking on the ice planet. If you zoom in on the picture, you can see the person leading this group is clearly in a different space suit that the other 3 people......

Maybe Matt Damon. From another expedition.

Has it been said whether or not Paramount will release this film digitally or on film stocks?

Huh? They have to release it digitally because that's the majority of the market these days. Almost all AMCs and Regals in the US all use digital projection

I'm more of an advocate of keeping filming in film as an alt to using digital cameras. The whole 'projection' thing to me is kinda moot, and tends to confuse people whether if they're talking about filming or projection.

Well, I ask because this was shot on Film and thought it would be projected on Film instead of the recent rise of digital mandate to preserve Nolan's vision.

I've updated my quote.

Many movies shot on film are being projected digitally, which is my point. Unless it's Imax, which is film, and some theaters have it in its native format.

Otherwise, it doesn't really matter. The only issue might be the theater standards on how the digital projections are being set up. Sometimes, it seems like the projectors are set at 25 frames per sec, instead of 24, making it move slightly faster than it should.

Yeah...most major multiplexes don't have a single film projector left. There's nothing that can be done to combat that, this film will be predominantly projected digitally.

There's probably only going to be a handful of IMAX theaters that will project this on 70mm IMAX...and that would also probably be down to 0 by now if not for this movie.

I'm lucky I live close to the NYC Lincoln Square IMAX. I have a feeling that could be the last one to stay 70mm.

That planet is obviously Hoth. This proves that Star Wars is in our universe!!!!!

;)

Carmike and Marquee have also used digital projectors exclusively for years now. I dont know of any major theater chains that use film projectors besides a limited number of 70mm IMAX theaters and some independent 35mm theaters.

I doubt WB will even print this on 35 mm film. There will be a limited number of IMAX prints but that will be it.

The last film print I saw was Paranormal Activity 1 in a local theater chain in Severeville, TN.

And that theater's IMAX is digital now. Interstellar may be the only film shown with the film projector in that IMAX (The Hobbit being the only other possibility since the change to digital was last year but Desolation of Smaug was still shown on the film one).

Guess that's not too surprising. Seems like there are certain theaters that are keeping the IMAX projectors around for select movies evem though they'll mostly use the digital one.

Anne looks lovely. Matt looks stoned. :funny:

He's probably thinking about number, digits, decimals and feeding the geese to keep the blood flowing.

And driving a Lincoln.

Edgar Wright tweeted earlier this year how he heard Interstellar was Nolan's best film from industry people, so he must've had pretty high expectations. Time to hop aboard the hype train.

Will also do my damnest to avoid that last trailer.

Yep. Its a safe bet that trailer 4 will have the eye candy and spoilers so avoiding it isnt a bad idea.

Just want to once again say that the cinematography in this film looks stunning.
