Interstellar - Part 6

Man do I dislike twitter reaction. It is basically a competition to see who can be the most outrageous.

@marixangelica:Interstellar is probably the most depressing movie I've ever seen.
Interesting. I thought Nolan said he liked happier endings? And the film looks to be incredibly optimistic.

Is it just me or do people use descriptions like "depressing" these days when movies don't follow the generic positive and glossy tropes? People have been conditioned to expect the pop-Hollywood endings so much they don't recognize real stories anymore.

Girl appreciated the depression as a advantage.

@marixangelica good or not?

@Monicabbm great!

must....keep....expectations....in....check...... :exp:

Crisis averted! Poor poster was being bashed at another board for saying something initially assumed as negative. :funny:

Those people are psychotic.

I think all of Nolan's work is kinda cold and dreary and I don't mean that as a negative. Not everything has to be light and fluffy.

Yep. Nolan lied.:funny:

So this depressing film is impressing? :funny:

Not surprising. I think it can be Nolan's best. The reactions are exciting.

I bet it'll be the type of movie where people will have different emotional reactions.

Lol.:funny:

So, these are the super blurry photos I got of Mathew McConaughey. My phone’s camera is so terrible oh my god

Taken in Fort Hood during a pre-screening of Interstellar, which is SUPER ****ING AMAZING. It’s heartbreaking, but in a good way.

@gschiller13 Perfection. Uses just the right amount of creative fiction when a majority of it is scientific & makes you think the whole time

@NolanHiddink @McConaughey yes ! It's really good , you should definitely see it when it comes out !

I really enjoyed it. It was so nice of them to do this for soldiers and families. My husband just returned from a year deployment and some of the moments were very relatable. Yes, I did cry!

OMG just saw Mathew McConaugehy and saw a free screening of Interstellar. Was actaully a pretty good movie, really long though . . . . and the 50 crying, screaming kids didnt help either.

There's always an ominous undercurrent in his films. I mean a lot of it is overt but even in the more "mundane" scene he manages to add a foreboding vibe to it.

All of his movies come off cold or overall depressing to me. The only one that didn't was BB.

Is she sure there were only 50 ?

Off-topic, but I heard some people describe "Gravity" as a depressing movie ! :oldrazz:

Gravity is more frightening than depressing, and most of all, in the end, incredibly life-affirming.

I just cant see it being depressing. Unless the film does a 180 shift from the tone in the trailers.

This is why I hate twitter reactions. Someone says one buzz word and then it's all we're thinking about.

I think the film will probably offer a harsh look into the future of humanity/this planet, but that doesn't mean there won't be a healthy dose of hope, awe and wonder in there. IMO there is an inherent beauty to mathematics/astrophysics and considering how all that stuff is tied in with this movie I expect the movie to hit way more notes than just "depressing". We'll see.

Shhhh... you'll summon a certain poster who will be sure to remind us all that Nolan believes his audiences are stupid and spoonfeeds them everything even though he doesn't really need to anyway because all his ideas are profoundly stupid and if we were all truly intelligent, we'd only watch Michael Haneke films.
forgive my ignorance,
But, who the heck is Michael Haneke?

foreign art film director. Funny Games, Code Unknown, The Piano Teacher, Time of the Wolf, Cache, Amour...

don't love all his stuff but i do love Cache and Time of the Wolf.
