Interstellar - Part 6

Don't know and don't care. I prefer to watch movies without expectations. I'm just glad movies like this still can be made in this era of sequels, remakes and reboots.

Good point.

Surely it's hyperbole when it's a few reactions. These are now regular reactions saying pretty much the same thing from average joes to press to big directors themselves. Maybe it is as good as they are saying.

Yes we got WB reps crying in the TDKR period but we now know those people were lying. These people have seen it and luckily the ones I tend to agree it have loved it so far too.

why wouldn't WB execs cry when seeing TDKR ending. I did. I'm sure I ain't the only one.

The tweets were about 5 months in advance so they most likely werent even real. Even still I doubt it. Anyway Im just saying I really doubt this is now just hyperbole.

I think Nolan has a cerebral sensibility that's somewhat similar to Kubrick's, albeit not as extreme.

Kubrick’s films were sometimes/often described as bleak and misanthropic. Now, I don’t think Nolan is quite so dark. :word: But I do see some similarities in terms of “idea-based” (as opposed to character driven) stories - with social commentary/criticism or philosophical contemplations on morality and existentialism, etc.

You're not the only one, I cry every time I see it. Doesn't matter how many times, it's automatic. Magic, Mr. Nolan.

Saw Interstellar last night. Nolan's masterpiece. Matthew and Anne shine as siblings Inter and Stellar, and Chastain amazes as The Universe. Amazing scene with the big waves. I thought about my family. I thought about life. I thought about big waves.

That dude sounds like he's coming off a huge shroom trip.

stellar? Inter? The Universe? Those are strange first names. what was Nolan Thinking?

The sarcastic nature of his post makes me think he is making it up. Also treating the "big wave" like it is the movie's biggest achievement implies the only thing he's seen is the final trailer.

So apparently everyone is embargoed save for the SAG screening?

Everybody is embargoed. Twitter reactions tend to dribble out but in depth thoughts wont be revealed for another 2 weeks.

Faraci mentioned that the embargo gets lifted Monday.

On a side note: Interstellar is pretty freaking great. Spend the $ to see it in IMAX & settle in for this amazing 2001/Contact/Looper hybrid

So excited. Even though I've read the script I've really stayed away from most of the TV spots etc. I really am glad this is getting lots of rave.

God, so many reviews that I don't have time to read everything. :wow:

Behind the scenes. Good quality.

I get contact and 2001, but it has elements of Looper? My mind wonders.

I think it's because of the -

time travel/alternate reality elements like doing something alters the future in some other reality. Even the old draft had that already and maybe Nolan even amped it up.

Knowing what he has done with films like The Prestige and Inception, I would fully expect that he did amp up that aspect.

Yep. It's also the right movie to tackle that. With the wormholes and all that jazz.

Saw INTERSTELLAR last night. Fantastic and one of those films you HAVE to see in Imax. Epically epic!

I'll admit it up front, I'm a Nolan fan boy! However this movie hits all the right strings! Amazing visuals, great Hans Zimmer score, and thought provoking storyline. Definitely need a couple more viewing to soak it all in. (From Reddit)

First luke warm

YW. If you're a space or science junkie, you may love it. This regular Jill was overwhelmed by visuals/underwhelmed by the story.

I was at a screening of Interstellar last night. Yes, the commentary before the article is my own.

Interstellar: A visually stunning, but convoluted mess.

Twitter , as always , is a land of hyperbole.

maybe Twitter is scared of The Wrath of Nolan Fans.

i saw a post on the NF board where someone was talking about a few of the earlier reactions showing up to Interstellar and was annoyed that some people were acting like it was "just another sci-fi movie," and they wanted to see more reactions like people had seen something that changed how they looked at the world, the universe, and everything or whatever and left them in a "stupor."

i was like, "gee, raise expectations too high much?"

but it is always funny when fanboys demand more ecstatic reactions to a film they haven't even seen yet.
