True. My mum is like that. Anything good and it's a 10/10. If I say something is 7/10 she'd say I must have not liked it.

7/10 means I really liked something. I agree 5 out of 5s have lost their effect among some highly rated reviewers. For example (and I'm a huge Nolan fanboy) some review sites were handing out 5/5s for TDKR even though (for example, Empire Magazine's review) in the actual review some of it was negative. If something is 5/5 that means it is flawless as can be.

Ebert had an interesting way of doing it and was probably a lot more fair than I am. He would rate movies based on their genre. So you would see him hand out 4/4's to films like Spider-Man 2 or The Dark Knight.

I lump all movies together and rate them all on the same scale, so there is no way I could ever give those movies a 4/4 when there are true 4/4's sitting there like The Godfather and 12 Angry Men. It's probably not fair on my part, but it is what it is.

Yeah, you'd think so, but some critics flip flop on 3/5's. Sometimes 3/5 is a Fresh for an individual, sometimes it's a Rotten for them. Like I said, if you don't like a movie then give it a bad score.

You guys realize Rotten Tomatoes is a flawed system, right? And most importantly, make up your own minds when you see the film yourself. Zero need of getting bent out of shape because others didn't like it.

This. All too often RT is used as 'proof' for what we should and shouldn't like. For who is 'on the right side of the fence' and who isn't. I'm just going to sit down, watch the movie and make up my own mind.

That's how I do. I rate Inception a 9 but also Guardians of the Galaxy. But I like Inception way more however I just as to what I thought they would be and GOTG far exceeded that and hit every button with me. It's the fairest way IMO.

As for TDKR the tomato meter IMO is pretty much right. Maybe a tad over and should maybe settle to 84% just below BB. It has flaws but that doesnt drag from the overall experience for me.

Lots of goodness in Interstellar. Am I jealous Nolan gets to make big budget passion projects without apparent compromise? Damn right I am!

Honestly, the internet's handling these reviews better than I thought they would, lol. My favorite Nolan movie is also the lowest-rated on RT, so this is doing little to kill my hype at the moment.

this is the kind of movie that is only as good as you let it be. If you are a stone wall movie goer, its not for you. But for me, i have been waiting ever since nolan was on board, so I will be highly emotionaly invested, and it will be great
