I just have to say reading this thread the last few days and people saying that TDKR was a mix reviewed movie lol. Really a movie with an 88 on rotten tomatoes and that most fans think was great was mixed reviewed lol. Yeah it wasn't consider has good has TDK but how many movies get reviews like that movie no many. If you think TDKR was a mixed reviewed movie then I guss like 95% of movie are mixed reviewed or bad reviews lol. I love all 3 in the dark knight trilogy but to me TDKR is the best CBM ever and head and shoulders better then begins or dark knight.

It is, indeed, a bizarre thing, the way people here talk about TDKR. If i didn´t know better i´d say TDKR had 50% on RT and lost money, just based on what i read here. Instead, it is one of the most successful comic book movies ever, both critically and financially. And in some sites, like IMDB, it even has a better rating than any other CB movie outside TDK.

I have never said TDKR had a mixed reception. Never. I said I didn't think it was a good film and I'm allowed to think that about a Nolan movie no matter how much the zealots believe that I am not.

The cult of Nolan-Batman strikes again. At least the death threats have stopped.

Not with you on this one SPIDEY. Plenty cross the line with TDKR, labeling it a failure beyond their own personal feelings.

I'm defending myself. I have clearly said that mine was a minority opinion. What I have said is that I do not think it's reception was as good as TDK and that is something I am sticking to.

Well how many films have had the reception of TDK the last 20 years? Probably less then a handful.

Yeah, I like a few individual moments here and there, but the film did nothing for me.

I read a bunch are complaining about RT not updating the positive reviews. :woot:

Avengers reception was pretty damn amazing and it's success changed things. It turned Marvel into another Pixar except for comicbook movies instead of animation.

TDKR received a majority positive reviews, but there was also a general consensus even among those who liked it that it wasn't on the same level as TDK.

TDK makes stuff like Skyfall and the Avengers possible. And I would put the Avengers on that list. Films that won the critics, crowd and box office over almost completely. Though I don't think the Avengers won any relevant Oscars. One of the reasons TDK stands on its own.

When I feel like someone is misrepresenting my opinion I can't help but to respond. By all means disagree with my opinion of any given film but absolutely do not expect to get away with misrepresenting my opinion.

I love SkyFall but it was practically a remake of The Dark Knight, I said that immediately after walking out of the theater with my sister. I'm not denying the incredible reception of TDK or BB nor am I saying that TDKR didn't have a good reception. It obviously did.

The truth is SPIDEY, you just hate Nolan so darn much. When it comes to Nolan, your heart is a black hole. :cwink:

Can we please go five minutes without another Nolan argument?

For that matter, can we stick to Interstellar or at least a general Nolan discussion and not drag TDKR in here? That gets argued to death in its own thread.

I'll respond to you in pm as to not anger the mods anymore than I have.

You're not angering me, I just don't want this thread to get sucked down a neverending TDKR/Nolan argument black hole like some others have.

My comment wasn't to you, it was to the whole thread.

It was a joke Sundance. :funny:

It is a Nolan thread, inside another Nolan thread, inside another Nolan thread.

Just to speed things up:

- The Prestige is his underrated masterpiece.

- TDKT and Inception have messy third acts.

- Everyone actually likes Memento.

- Nolan can't shoot action.

- Nolan is cold, sterile, and possibly dead inside.

- Nolan directed Insomnia?

You're welcome.

:lmao: It's funny because it's true.

So I watched the clip, it was fine but I had trouble understanding what the heck MM was saying.

- The Prestige is his underrated masterpiece.

I like it, but IMO it's one of his lesser films.

- TDKT and Inception have messy third acts.

I think Batman Begins, The Prestige, and TDKR have messy third acts (actually TDKR is sort of messy in general), but I don't agree about Inception.

- Everyone actually likes Memento.

I've actually (gasp, shock) never seen Memento.

- Nolan can't shoot action.

It's definitely not his strong suit. Although Inception's action was better than Batman's, for some reason. That weightless hallway fight was one of the coolest fight scenes since The Matrix. But yea, Batman fight scenes are a mess. The car chases are okay, but he can't shoot fight scenes (at least not with Batman).

- Nolan is cold, sterile, and possibly dead inside.

Agree to a point. I felt nothing at the Waynes' murder in Batman Begins, or Rachel's death in TDK. I felt TDKR had more feeling, personally, and I thought Inception had some moving scenes (old Cobb and Mal walking through their dream city :csad:).

- Nolan directed Insomnia?

Not bad but probably the least of his movies.
