But who knows, those two movies are nothing alike, so you may end up loving it.

I loved Nolan's Bat films (though I thought Dark Knight Rises was the weakest) and Inception was great. So I am sure I will like this movie, but I don't want to go in with REALLY high expectations and be let down. As for Nightcrawler, the movie wasn't horrible but I feel like it could have been A LOT better than what it was. It honestly didn't have much of a story besides Lois Bloom rising among the ranks of the news crew and showing how far he was willing to go to get video footage etc. I thought it was going to be a thriller of sorts but it was more of a character study and a glimpse at News production, which is cool but did really interest me enough to carry a movie.

Memento used to be my favorite Nolan film...this took the top spot. I loved the acting, score, plot and most of all the brilliant visuals. What an amazing ending too and I loved the whole scene with Mann

Did anyone else think Nolan could have made use of a few more wide establishing shots? There were a couple of instances where I was a little confused as to who was where and in relation to whatever else. It seemed that he could have taken a little more care in establishing the geography of the screen space.

But that's only a minor complaint.

I really liked this movie a lot.... but I kinda lost something between the wormhole and blackhole.... dunno what it was but I felt like the motif changed from adventure to thriller during that time... I really was wanting to be more wowed by what was behind the wormhole. I will see this again though and I really enjoyed the science speak that was presented... I'm eternally fascinated by how things work in space and on that fact it didn't disappoint.

The problem with Nolan's writing is that they don't feel organic. For such a dramatic shift in a character's arc- it really felt unrelatable and scripted.

somehow my friend called the ending/twist from the beginning. In the scene where they are walking up the stairs talking about the ghost he leans over and says to me
"I figured it out"
I said what? Not thinking there was anything in the movie to figure out yet, and he says

After the movie he was all pleased with himself for calling it, but I said there is no way he didn't read that online. That would be like watching star wars, seeing darth vader for the first time, and saying "I got it, thats Lukes dad"

RT critics are ****, this movie was out of this world, literally! That docking scene alone was worth my ticket.

I liked this film but I didn't love it. And that's really upsetting for me, as I really wanted to love this film. Christopher Nolan is probably my favourite director, I don't think he's ever made a bad film, and I wanted so bad for this to be his masterpiece that would sweep the board at the Oscars. But right now it's sitting at 7/10 territory for me. Everyone else seems to love it, everyone I went to see it with loved it, so I don't know if it's just me. I'll take some time and try to formulate a full review.

There was an article on Slate that was ripping apart the science in this movie and I just want to see if Interstellar was as off-base as this guy was acting like it was or if maybe he missed something. He pointed out that the planets Cooper and his team visit are orbiting the black hole, and if that was the case, none of them could sustain life because a black hole wouldn't act as a light or heat source. This seems accurate, however, perhaps he misinterpreted something. Were the planets actually orbiting the black hole or were they just near it and were instead orbiting a star?

It was shown clearly enough that the solar system had Planets orbiting around a binary combo of a Neutron Star and a Black Hole. Such system exist in Universe, how it looks like was changed a bit by the physicist Kip Thorne (who was a consultant in this movie). In older artist drawings (for example, this one below on NASA's web site.)

I was apprehensive about the film. The marketing and McConaughey's casting just didn't really click with me. And I hate to say it, it just didn't click with me. Make no mistake, it's gorgeously shot, the visuals were top notch, and most of the acting was EXCELLENT. (Especially Anne Hathaway, Mackenzie Foy and Jessica Chastain.)

However, the plot revolving around the space-time continuum and how it worked -- I paid attention to the movie and I'm still confused. I don't want to spoil anything, but the complexity of that exceeds Inception and part of the movie is more ponderous rather than tightly paced (Nolan either needs to cut some scenes while writing the script or in the editing suite). It's like Nikola Tesla pointed out in The Prestige, "A man's reach must exceed his grasp." Well, that happened to Nolan.

I also think McConaughey just stuck out in a bad way, with that Texas twang. He didn't really disappear into his role like he did in Dallas Buyers Club, but he did have good chemistry with Mackenzie Foy. Some of those father/daughter scenes ring true.

But it's a huge miss for me. It has a lot going for it, but it just doesn't hit the spot. And I found Zimmer's score intrusive and mixed WAY too loudly.

Just got back. I can't decide if I absolutely loved it, or if it was so wild that it was just too much. I'm so conflicted! I'd say its probably my favorite Nolan film now. This movie is very bold.
But then there were some things that just made me go "What?!" On one hand I think that the turn at the end of the movie was great. And on another hand I don't think it meshes up with the first 2/3rds of the movie. Definitely some interesting choices in this movie.
The visuals were absolutely fantastic. And they were perfectly accented by the score. Well done Mr. Zimmer. My whole theater was shaking.
When the film ended, everybody just kinda stood up slowly and left. There wasn't much chatter. It was almost like you could feel everyone trying to decide internally if they liked it, or if it was too "out there" for them. I can now see why this was a divisive film.
I am so so so glad that I went into this movie without being spoiled at all. You guys who haven't seen it need to do the same.

Some films are so easy to rate though. Like when I came out of seeing TWS, I was like "Whoo! Easily a 10!" But then a movie like this I just don't know what to give it.

Just got out. It's a lot to take in and I havent fully processed it all. It's good no doubt, but where it falls on the spectrum I'm not sure yet.

I cant wait to watch this tomorrow. Im glad this film is polarizing the crtics because the great movies usually do when they first come out. They also usually do not sweep the Oscars, ex. Kubrick's films, Scorsese's classics, Blade Runner, PTA's films.

I just got out of a showing.

I loved it, and despite what people were complaining about with regards to the plausibility of the movie, I found it to be reasonably accurate scientifically. Having done a lot of research myself in astrophysics (by no means an expert, but I'm a *huge* astrophysics nerd) I was generally okay with that aspect. Even the last part, while bizarre and difficult to swallow, has some basis in theoretical physics.

In terms of the film itself, the visuals were gorgeous, the soundtrack was haunting (still have the theme playing in my head) and the movie was one of the shortest feeling 3 hour movies I've ever sat through. Not the mention the very good performances.

There were a handful of cheesy scenes

that I didn't love, but it wasn't nearly enough to detract from the experience.

I'd probably give it a good 9/10.

That was amazing. I spent three hours completely immersed and didn't even notice the running time. The performances were great. I thought this worked so well because of Matt's likability. Also nice to see a lot of humor in a Nolan film. This is a crowd pleaser. There was a lot of clapping at the end and a lot of chatting leaving the theater. The only thing I didn't like was people laughing about "the cameo" because they recognized the actor. It's an amazing film for a number of aspects but I'm not sure how it would hold up for me on repeat viewings because I know what to expect.
