Psyched! Psyched! Psyched! My top 3 Marvel Characters are Cap, Doctor Strange, and Iron Fist. As you can imagine the Marvel side of my superhero fanboy is living the high life.

Any theories on why Danny looks like a hobo?
Did he leave Kun Lun long ago and has been slowly making his way back to NY?

I'm very curious about what's going on here. Is it a vagrant act? Did he backpack his way back to New York? Is he slightly out of it?

Not crazy about his hair style, but hopefully that changes after he shaves and gets cleaned up

It also looks like they might be slightly changing his origin story. In the comics, Danny already had his costume after completing the Iron Fist tournament and left to America to seek revenge on K'un-L'un. Maybe on the show, Danny doesn't know about Harold killing his family and will spend part of the show learning about that. But that does make you wonder, when will Danny suit up?

I wonder if Marvel will even go with the whole K'un-L'un only opens every X years for the show. Seems limiting for whenever they want to use that locale.

It's not as limiting as you might think, really.

Without giving away spoilers for people who might be interested in reading the various storylines, they've gotten around the whole 'ten years' thing several times.

Well I saw someone point out he has an old ipod with him in those pictures. Presumably he has it on the trip with his parents and kept it during his stay at Kun Lun. So my guess is he's been making his way to NYC and once there, find someone who can confirm his identity.

He's probably dressed like a hobo just to throw people off. If he were clean cut and it looked like he was living the good life there would probably be questions about why he took so long to return.
As for not knowing Harold killed his parents, I hope not. Or atleast I hope he knows someone was responsible. Revenge is what pushed him through his training. He became the Iron Fist because he straight up wanted to murder someone.

Yeah but I imagine he won't just show up in his IF costume in the middle of NY in broad daylight. Maybe the costume is in his backpack?

I imagine he took the long way home. Probably hiking and sailing on boats rather than taking a plane back. Everyone thinks he is dead so he probably doesn't have money for plane tickets and taxis.

Remember guys, this is a Netflix show. He's not getting the costume until the last 10 minutes of the 13th episode ;) .

And even then, it will only be a mask or something. :o

I hope we get one scene of him in costume in the day time.

Danny's costume in the comics is the ceremonial garb of Iron Fist. I don't think we should be made to wait until the final episode to see him in his gear.

That's what I've been guessing as well.
Maybe he's also taking the long way back home to reacquaint hilmself with the world outside K'un-Lun.

He's had different costumes over the years though.

Highly doubt he will have the classic open-chested funky collar type of look.

My question to add is why he's dressed like a hippy hobo,
and why Jessica Stroup's character is also wearing some very 70's looking gear...?

I showed the pictures to some friends and they thought the show was set in the past

maybe just playing up the characters 70's kung-fu movie origins?

I don't expect his iron fist look to be much like it is in the comics. The Netflix shows superhero outfits are more grounded than even the movie looks.

Yeah. I think the costume designer is just having fun playing around with the style choices and possibly even paying homage to the decade in which the character premiered.
But it's clear they're set in current time, based on Stroup's phone which was part of the scene.

Loving these wacky new pics. I'm getting a fish out of water "Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt" first season of Avatar Legend of Aang, vibe. I'm assuming/hoping this show will be the most light hearted out of all the Netflix Marvel show. I enjoyed DD and JJ but I think it's time for a bit of humor and levity. Hopefully this will deliver.

Yeah it's not like went away for five years like Oliver Queen.

He was isolated in an ancient city away from regular society for over 15 years. In other words, he has no idea what an iPhone or smart phone is. Or a tablet.

Liking the pics. So far it does capture the character.

I'm curious if they're going to explore here that Rand's company was responsible for blinding Daredevil.

or maybe that's for the Defenders.

In Daredevil, I'm not sure we could tell the chemicals that blinded Matt and gave him his powers were from Rand Corp. Though that appeared to be the case with the set pictures.

In Jessica Jones there was a whole subplot about Jessica's accident being caused by IGH. Same company seemed to be behind Will Simpson's combat program. One of those big movie/TV narrative coincidences but oh well.

IF is a strange mix of humor and darkness. On one hand, modern Danny is a smart-mouthed kid. He was nineteen at the time of his return to the city, and it was simple revenge that drove him those years in KL, to be the best. So when he came back...it literally started with him raiding the the office building of his nemesis, planning only to kill Meachum.
