Hmmm. Surprised by the negative reaction to IRON FIST. I thought the first 6 eps were very enjoyable. I mean it has the same issues...
I agree if it was only the first season of Daredevil. Madame Gao was the only really "mystical" bit. But the second season turned it up. We people coming back from the dead, weird mystical bloody transfusions and something called Black Sky.
I see what you are saying and I agree there is blame all around. Though one thing I'd say that if the person hired has the talent, they can usually get a better vision across. Like how Gunn got GotG to be his film, or how the Russos got The Winter Soldier done their way.Oh, I agree. I don't think it should have been a problem since technically Iron Fist exists in the same universe as a talking raccoon in space. My only point is Marvel seemed to want something less out there and more in line with the other Netflix stuff since the beginning. This is why even if Iron Fist ends up being a disappointment once I view it, I cannot lay the blame only with Scott Buck. Buck just had the pitch that was grounded like Marvel wanted, so Marvel TV would deserve a healthy portion of blame.

I honestly think they didn't know how to make Iron Fist on a budget, while also being in tune with what else they were working on. So like with GotG, they were looking for someone who could make it work for them.I agree with that, but at the same time, Marvel treated this property oddly. For some reason, Marvel has taken a lot of pride in many of their riskier things for people to enjoy, but they never seemed proud of Iron Fist. Marvel feels like they were afraid of this project from the on-set, which makes you wonder why they didn't just do someone else like Moon Knight or heck even The Punisher sooner than make a show they had no ideas for and were afraid to do.
If this goes down as the first MCU outright dud, it is because Marvel over thought themselves on this, as opposed to embracing it like they have done in the past. But, might that also be a by product of Netflix requiring the show be toned down as well? Could be, but who knows for sure.
*Watches Daredevil season 2*The other issue is that Defenders hasn't really had time to course correct. The show already started filming, and those episodes are already written. We really have no assurance that Petrie and Ramirez will do a better job with Danny.

I have some assurance.t:
Watch us all end up loving it.Agreed. We shall see what the streaming numbers and everything look like at end of day. While Iron Fist getting meh reviews stinks, as with anything, it will all be about the audience and people watching.

The Hand story did fizzle out a bit. But what they did with the Punisher and his storyline and Elektra herself, were great. Both seasons of Daredevil are right up there with Cap's trilogy, Ant-Man, Iron MAn and GotG as my favorite MCU stuff. I am very excited to see what they do with the Defenders.Truth! While the Hand storyline was less good in the season, the Punisher plot line was one of the best Netflix/Marvel plotline yets.

Daredevil was pretty good as was Jessica Jones. I liked most of Luke Cage although my only issue was killing Cottonmouth too early.

Agreed. Daredevil is prob in my MCU top 5 overall, including both movies and TV. There is certainly enough momentum from the other shows to build a proper Defenders, even if Iron Fist ends up a stumble. If we have doubts about the writing team on Defenders, watch the Punisher and Daredevil graveyard scene again. We have potential.
Agreed. And he was replaced by....Diamondback...oooooooh Diamondback![]()
