The only thing I would sympathize with Finn Jones about the reviews is that we are only getting the first six. And I think the reviews are fair including mine in noting the show does get better toward the middle, and episodes 5-6 are the better episodes. And there are 7 episodes left.

Now there are elements I am not sure if the rest of the season will rectify, but based off episode 6, I'm more than willing to give the show a chance.

Where is your review posted?

Amazing how Marvel are trying to keep things under wraps despite needing to build hype now more than ever. The current Metacritic score is only slightly higher than the Fantastic Four reboot.

Any idea why the Metacritic score has less than half the reviews of Rotten Tomatoes? I don't know if it would make a difference, but the average score for RT is higher by about 18 percentage points as well.

ETA: Entertainment Weekly and The Hollywood Reporter are not on Rotten Tomatoes, while Filmink, Gizmodo, Empire Magazine, CinemaBlend, The Daily Dot, New York Magazine, The Verge, Nerdist, Den of Geek, ScreenRant, and IGN Movies are not on MetaCritic.

So Finn Jones said "Well I think there’s multiple factors. What I will say is these shows are not made for critics, they are first and foremost made for the fans. I also think some of the reviews we saw were seeing the show through a very specific lens, and I think when the fans of the Marvel Netflix world and fans of the comic books view the show through the lens of just wanting to enjoy a superhero show, then they will really enjoy what they see. I think it’s a fantastic show which is really fun and I think it stands up there with the other Defenders’ shows without a doubt.".

Well most of us want to just enjoy a super hero show, so why give us board meetings, no costume, not enough fighting etc? %

Not that it should be a surprise, but they've confirmed Shou-Lao isn't in the show due to budgeting concerns

No Shou Lao fight confirmed. Finn Jones cited budget reasons.

Vile. Is the music better in the show? Because what we've heard in the trailers sucks.

They have lower standards of entertainment. :o

Do they actually though? It's not like a normal TV series with an air date, the show will drop in one big chunk and people can view it whenever they like. It doesn't really matter when the hype comes.

A suit-wearing Iron Fist in the foreground (because the guy in charge didnt have enough imagination to justify giving Danny a costume) but Avengers Tower in the background. Go figure.

They all had the Avengers Tower in the background for their street poster though.

I don't think he's wrong about that. My personal preference as a compromise would be to use sort of as a nightmare version of a flashback with just quick flashes where you can't see much of anything, but you can still see fire and flame and maybe hear Shou-Lao.

What was the point of doing this series?

Setting up the Defenders since you can't have Luke and Jessica without Iron Fist. Hooray for contractual obligation.

You can. It sounds like they should have. Or just put in Punisher or Misty to sub in for Iron Fist. I mean this is just starting to sound pathetic.

Nothing all that memorable that really stood out. Daredevil and Jessica Jones have cool themes at least. The theme opening here isn't memorable. Luke Cage had that fantastic soundtrack.

This is something that always concerned me. I was worried they'd never actually show his origin and fight with Shou-Lao.

Not surprising at all. And here we thinking we could get a cool Enter the Dragon-like soundtrack. No such luck. It obviously needs a theme befitting boardroom stories not martial arts. :o
