Iron Fist Iron Fist General Discussion Thread - Part 4

I think that’s Davos power in the comics. To take away the Iron Fist or at least that’s what I read on Wikipedia lol.
They changed some things from the original comics, like the role Danny's father plays, maybe there is a deeper story behind Davos that the TV Danny doesn't know, maybe Davos was not searching for him to take him back, maybe Davos was exiled from K'un-Lun or after now in S2 stealing the Fist, he will try to return to K'un-Lun and wants to be the Iron Fist and defend the sacret city, but the elders don't want the un-chosen one, so they exile Davos. We have to wait...:ftc:

I'll tell you what other show is full of boardroom meetings when you'd think there shouldn't be any: The Girlfriend Experience.

That's an anthology show meant to be following the lives of different escorts each season. But they decide to throw in long and very boring boardroom scenes that are even more dull than Iron Fist.

In fact, the whole of the Girlfriend Experience is very slow and clinical. Even the sex scenes are very asexual and actually disturbing in an uneasy sort of way, and not erotic whatsoever. The show actually makes Scott Buck's Iron Fist look interesting, if you can believe that!

That about Joy being in league with the bad guys might be because she blames Danny for the death of her father, even though Harold was already dead in her mind. Might be an emotional relapse, look at how Ward was before turning around in the end of season 1, runs in the family :P

:woot: Good to have missed that show, even though the synopsis sound great !
Lesson, If and when you use boardrooms in your series, follow certain rules for not turning your show into a boring/boarding show :P

I am curious when the first breakdown video will be posted about this trailer. Will Superherohype also post a article about it? (Edit: never mind )

Just seen the new trailer. (currently in work so watched it without sound.)

Man even without getting the full effect of it I think this looks a lot better than season 1. Looks like they have taken note of people being critical of the fight scenes.

And I was super excited to see the mask. We better not have to wait till the end of the season for him to put it on.

Never actually read any Iron Fish but isn't Silver Serpents fist meant to be purple? The red & yellow will likely compliment each other a lot better.

Purple would need some white centered glows to make any contrast work, so red is indeed better visually.

Ok, the trailer makes this look much better than season one but I still have issues:

A) I'm glad they finally got Danny wearing a yellow mask of some sort but why cant they just give him the freaking costume? Why the continuous obnoxious teasing? Make Iron Fist LOOK LIKE IRON FIST.

B) Finn Jones still looks like he's brooding a lot in this which is a big reason why season one failed. Danny is supposed to be a funny, happy go lucky, light prescence. Enough with the brooding. He's not Matt Murdock or Luke or Jessica. I wanna see a Danny that loves Kung Fu and fighting crime. I wanna see more of the Danny that was in that one Luke Cage season 2 episode.

Complaints aside, this LOOKS better and Davos looks like a great villain but they need to make Danny a likeable character again.

Yeah it did strike me as odd but just assumed it was a visual choice.

Red on yellow be a kung fu version of Flash & Revese Flash lol.

AGREED.

I gave season 2 of Luke Cage a bad review but one of the things I said was good about it was all the other characters bar Luke Cage. Especially Danny in that episode I don't know if you were the same as me but I was just thinking where was this guy in season 1 & the Defenders?

He was likeable, cool, he even seemed like he got a little swagger about him. Here's hoping the brooding moments are few and far between and they are showing a lot of them in the trailer. Like you said I want to see Daredevil wrapped around a cross on top of a church brooding in the rain not Danny.

There is a difference between being worn down and tested mentally/physically and brooding. I don't think Danny will brood this season, but be exhausted doing overtime trying to honor the promise he made to Matt? That I think he will be.

You didn't miss much at all there. It has a permanent low hum or air conditioning noise going on in the background throughout the whole show to make you feel unsettled.

How much is Danny going to wear the yellow mask? Is it only for that one occasion? It looks a bit stiff, unlike DD's black mask in season 1.

He needs to shave his damned beard. You can't wear that mask with a beard. No wonder he has that bandana at the start of the trailer covering the lower part of his face instead of a mask covering the upper part. He's more recognisable with the beard.

He was likeable, cool, he even seemed like he got a little swagger about him.
He used more street lingo/slang than he ever has in anything I've seen him in.
Too 180 degrees of a character change. Just being calmer is improvement enough.

I think Danmy needed a 180 change tho cuz what he was doing in season 1 and the Defenders just wasnt working. But yes, i dont wanna see him be a petulant child and lash out at people anymore. Being more zen and charming more often is a big step forward.

Looks a lot better than season 1 and I didn't hate season 1 like a lot of people.

You know, I wouldnt even be mad if Danny's Green hoody he's wearing had the Iron Fist symbol on it.

Same. I didn't think season 1 was bad. It had flaws, sure. But I enjoyed it.

And not a single boardroom scene to be seen. This is already better than the first season. Looks like they've amped up the fight choreography and storytelling for the better.

So maybe now the show can go from just straight up mediocre to maybe pretty decent.

What caused the poor choreography was the actors only had 15 minutes to learn it before it was shot. The new producers has given them months in advanced to get it down and Finn Jones has studied martial arts in between seasons; in season 1 he had no MA experience whatsoever.

Finally this actually looks like a superhero show. I really like this trailer, love that he at least has a proto costume. I'm actually pretty excited.

I love any scene where Danny explains his origin to a stranger. Like he always expects them to know what an Iron Fist is and is sad they don't, LOL!

I had my issues with the fighting, but I was invested in the story of the first season.

I never outright hated S1 like I did Inhumans but I was, on the whole, very disappointed with how lackluster it was overall. Iron Fist is a character with a lot of potential and they watered it down to people arguing in board rooms with the occasional obligatory fight thrown in. The story was plodding and the action was inexcusable for a show centered around a supposed master of kung-fu.

That said, I'm rewatching S1 now (first time I've returned to it ever) and so far it's considerably better than I remembered. The story is still moving too slow and the action is pretty subpar but I'm enjoying it a fair amount more than I did the first time around. So that's promising for this next season, I guess?

The action scene certainly look better.

I hope Ward returns. I thought he was one of the better parts of the season. At the very least, he had a more believable character arc than Danny.
