It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's the Superman Costume Thread! - Part 2

The thing is, this particular suit was designed to be trunkless so simply slapping a pair of trunks over it would not and does not work. If one wants to make the trunks work they have to essentially change a lot of the MOS suit, in particular the lines around the waist/back/legs and even the texture of the suit itself.

I loved the interpretation that Superman have some kind of "glow". Like in Bermejo's drawings.

So the piping of the suit does act as a "snap on" magnetic type of material! So I'm not insane

i havent seen this one yet dont even know if its just a manip or an early costume test maybe it was already posted on here somewhere i dont know

Who needs body armor :yay: I'm a huge geek at heart and still a bit disappointed in the Man of Steel colors and materials. I'm also a fitness nut and I threw together this pic wearing the new Under Armour "Alter Ego" shirt. Call me old fashioned but I still don't see why they couldn't use this material in a movie!

^ Because, by comparison to all the other movie superheroes running around today, it looks cheap.

I said material not actual shirt. It's a compression shirt that obviously could be long sleeve. I think a suit made from this would end up much nicer than the Reeve version. imo
Very nice compression shirt. I actually had one of these, just an ordinary T-Shirt with the same colour and design from early 1980s.

The new costume is meant to look alien/advanced. That is why...

It's hard to believe how far we have come in today's world of computers, machines and vehicles as a whole in 2013. To think Planet Krypton, which was light-years progressed in their guilds of society and style, one that easily exceeds all that is planet Earth from its atmosphere & highly superior advanced technology of all lifeforms, would wear silly leotards and cloth for everyday formal wear.

MOS hit the imagery right on the mark and I applaud the creative team for giving us that vision of Krypton's style and hierarchy. I love the alien textures and Kryptonian visual of the suite. It's perfect for today's Superman, as Superman: The Movie was perfect for yesterday's Superman.

Here's a question. Do you guys think that they'll end up changing the suit for MOS 2? I feel almost every single superhero movie of late has done it (probably pressured by the toy department) and most have weaved it into the story pretty naturally.

I think having Superman create another suit while working on his projects in the Fortress of Solitude would be a neat idea. Just something to think about I suppose.

From what I've seen of it so far, I think the suit is perfect the way it is. I don't want them to change a single thing. If they absolutely have to make changes, I want them to be incredibly subtle. I'd also be alright with them putting him in an entirely different suit for a time for a specific purpose (i.e. a suit that protects him from Kryptonite radiation).

Can't really say I hate the suit, in fact it's very well done, but I would certainly say it's attempting to fix that which was not broken.....I wish that the talented makers of this suit and the filmakers adhered to the classic look.

I think you're assuming that they thought the original suit was broken. I don't think that's the case.

Somebody just wanted to show of how awesome their body is:cwink:, lol jokes props to you for getting your body like that. And Cavill arms are not even close to being as big as yours so a material like that wouldn't do his body justice.

I can definitely appreciate a fellow geek/gym nut. I'll be sporting mine too but with the MOS shield opening night. And one for my lady. :woot:

I'm a huge fan of the classic suit, and think this new interpretation looks fantastic. Cavill helps too haha

I do prefer the pics where you guys have 'turned up' the blue, though...

maybe because the guy cant tense his muscles, act, move and talk for the whole film

As much as I like the MOS movie suit seeing Henry Cavill in something like this would have been awesome.

I'm still not a fan of the MOS suit. The colors are too muted, the shield looks ugly and the whole thing just looks too alien. I prefer the suit to look more...Earth-made. Though I can understand getting rid of the trunks.

Given the origin of the suit in the film, they've nailed this aesthetic.

I don't mind alien but something still puts me off about the strips. I think I would have even preferred that rib thing from the Wizard Magazine Ultimate Superman design.

I look at this comparison, scratch my head and asked, why not classic Superman!
