Yeah the early Pokemon you get to catch are a bit crap. I'm doing my usual strategy of picking up a rock pokemon early to have a heavy hitter on my team. I did the same with Geodude in all the others so Rogginrolla is gonna have to take that position

Yeah the early pokemon are the usual crappy starters for your team that every pokemon game has.

If only they took the series that route. Having a somewhat serious show/movies would be interesting.

Normally I might have used Roggenrola, but this time I'm trying to shake up my usual pattern. Also it doesn't help that I've seen so many Geodude's and Golbat's that I naturally steer clear of anything that resembles them lol.

I'm also finally at the point tho that I'm having a hard time picking and choosing teammates. Just finished the third gym and picked up a Darumaka and Sandile. Replacing Drilbur with Sandile was a tough decision as is, but then adding Darumaka meant putting up either Blitzle or Zorua to make room. I was happy to get a fire type tho, and even tho it was a tough decision Sandile is just awesome looking :). Tho I kinda made up my mind that I wanted Sandile in my team the first time I saw the leaked Pokemon pics in this thread months ago.

I'm actually really liking Roggenrola. So far Dewott and Roggenrolla are carrying my team.

I use Blitzle to fill my fire/thunder quota. And so happy to finally have Exp.Share. Makes things so much easier with leveling up my team.

Just a general Pokemon question that also applies to Black/White.

Does anyone ever take at least one of their first caught Pokemon and actually turn them into a force to be reckoned with, all the way to the Elite final matches?

I've done it in all the Pokemon games I've owned at least with one. I always feel somewhat bad if I dump them all into the PC Box and then let them sit there forever.

In FireRed I did that with a Pidgey. In Diamond, I went back and caught a Magikarp with a n Old Rod in your home town and raised it to be on-par with the rest of my team.

What I always do is try to get that Pokemon as soon as possible and raise that. Like I caught my Drilbur at level 10. It's a level 38 Excadrill and I'll use it against the E4.

Nice.

Can't believe you actually had the patience to train a Magikarp. Kudos to you sir.

Ya. I always keep my first caught bird pokemon with me till the end. A lot of times I catch majority of my team in the beginning and just leave everything else in the pokebox.

In every game, I keep the Pokemon I train. I don't see the point of raising a Pokemon up to a certain point, only to drop it. Usually if I want to change my team, I actually start all over. The games are so fun that its not really an issue to play again from scratch, experiencing a new roster.

Ever since RS/FRLG/E, and into DPPt/HGSS, and now BW, I only catch the Pokemon I plan on raising. I'm loving how you don't have to catch the Pokemon to complete your Pokedex, so I don't even catch anything unless I plan on actually using it.

Anyway, here's my White team.

Zekrom
Samurott
Darmanitan
Excadrill
Galvantula
Bravairy

And my PC Boxes? EMPTY!!!!!!!! Every Pokemon I caught, I'm carrying!

Ok nice. Yeah usually I'm kind of an a hole when it comes to that and drop some of the Pokemon I trained into the Box and then tell myself I'll use them again and train them to 100. That never happens though.

I make exceptions here and there but usually they just sit there.

Nice man.

That takes a lot of self restraint. I've gotten better at not filling up my PC Box by each new gen.

Last Gen I played though was Fire Red. So I have yet to give any of the DS Pokemon games a shot.

I need to buy a used DS asap.

I had an Exp Share and was encountering level 25-30 pokemon so it went quickly. But raising a Magikarp is worth it. Gyarados is awesome. Dragon Dance and Bite/Waterfall/Ice Fang wrecks anything.

I'm so buying a DS to play the new games, they look sick.

Has anyone beaten the main story and have the TMs for Energy Ball, Psychic and Flamethrower/Overheat? I want my Galvantula and Lampent to know them when I face the Elite 4 but you don't get those TMs until after.

That second gym leader is such a *****. I beat her, just because one of her moves missed. I hate normal type gym leaders

They made it easy giving you the Rock Smash TM and access to 3 Fighting Type Pokemon before it. The Electric Gym was the worst, IMO. She has 2 Emolgas (only weak to Rock and Ice, the latter you don't have access to yet) that keep using Volt Switch.

Do we know whether the 3DS will be able to play regular games?

Anyone need to do some evolution trading? My Gundurr hit 25 and I want to evolve him, and was thinking I'd do someone else a favor and do the same for them at the same time. Just trade Pokes, and then trade them back to evolve them.

If anyone wants to later today I have my DS with me so can make time at some point, just say when. My friend code is 3396 3042 1682.

I'm about 4 levels away from needing to do that

Alright, whenever you're ready and you hit that level just let me know. I'm not in a rush or anything, just thought I'd ask early so if anyone needed to do the same they could see the message earlier on. My Gundurr will still be 25 by the time I get home either way.

I'll have to do more trading again after the Elite 4 as well (which is going to be awhile) if anyone needs help with evolutions by then as well. My current Gundurr isn't a great nature, so wouldn't be taking him online. If I liked him enough to tho I'd have to raise another, plus I still have to trade evolve all the others (including the bugs I haven't even got to yet) at some point to help fill the Pokedex. I just wanted to get this one out of the way since I'm going to be using him for awhile, and there's no real reason not to evolve him since he still learns the same moves, just with better stats.
