Pokémon It's the Pokemon thread - Part 1

Alright, whenever you're ready and you hit that level just let me know. I'm not in a rush or anything, just thought I'd ask early so if anyone needed to do the same they could see the message earlier on. My Gundurr will still be 25 by the time I get home either way.


I'll have to do more trading again after the Elite 4 as well (which is going to be awhile) if anyone needs help with evolutions by then as well. My current Gundurr isn't a great nature, so wouldn't be taking him online. If I liked him enough to tho I'd have to raise another, plus I still have to trade evolve all the others (including the bugs I haven't even got to yet) at some point to help fill the Pokedex. I just wanted to get this one out of the way since I'm going to be using him for awhile, and there's no real reason not to evolve him since he still learns the same moves, just with better stats.

I'm at level 23 (almost 24) and I have to get my Roggenrola to 25 then I'll be all set to trade evolve

Can't believe you actually had the patience to train a Magikarp. Kudos to you sir.

I've done this in my Diamond game. So far I've got a level 30 Monferno plus the level 25 Gyarados. They sweep nearly everything I've come against.

The only pokemon I have ever turned into a beast was my Charmander on my first playthrough of Pokemon Red, in my tender years when it was first released. Had a level 100 Charizard.

Did anyone else here (who played Pokemon Red/Blue from the beginning) make the "mistake" of ONLY using their starter Pokemon throughout the entire game, so by the time they got to, say, the 3rd gym, instead of having a team of Lv 20-26 Pokemon, they had a fully evolved Venus/Blast/Chari at Lv 38 that sweeped entire teams, regardless of types?

Then by the time you got to the Pokemon League, you had a team that looked like this:

Lv 50 Moltrese
Lv 39 Graveler
Lv 19 Raichu
Lv 35 Snorlax
Lv 50 Articuno
Lv 84 Venus/Blast/Chari

And took on the enitre League with that one Pokemon, with the others pratically being filler?

Only for you to THEN evetually discover Mewtwo, and realize that the most powerful Pokemon in the game WASN'T this secret Pokemon of the Unknown Dungeon, but the starter Pokemon you haven't stopped using in every single battle that was approaching now the 90s?

I did. Back on my old, clunky, grey Gameboy I was playing Blue. I picked Bulbasaur on my first run and didn't fully get the game at first. I was just running thru things and not fully paying attention to the mechanics. Except with me I was being extra stupid. By the time I realized you could build a team, I was already convinced my overleveled Bulbasaur was invulnerable, and that I didn't need anyone else. THEN I hit victory road, and was struggling, and even at one point ran out of PP on all my moves and had my first death/wipe out (of course not before I ran thru all my ether's, and even used all my healing potions so I could keep struggling lol). After that I went back and started catching stuff, but didn't have the patience to lvl them up, so I just started over and played the game right the second time thru lol.


Also already said it in PM, but thnx again Matt. My Conkeldurr's evolution made his atk shoot thru the roof, just one point shy of 90 atk now lol. He's going to steam roll a few battles for a while.

You know I really, really want a Nidorino. This is the first Pokemon game I've played without having a Nidoking on my team. Feels like somethings missing

Just picked up 3 Solosis if anyone with Black needs one. None have good natures tho. I was debating going back out to get a modest one and putting it on my team, but kinda conflicted. It's finally form is phenomenal (IMO), but it's earlier forms look too frail and slow. Might just hang on and lvl one later in the game. Also caught an adamant super luck tranquill. Since I dropped Pidove earlier I was thinking I was pondering adding it back, but realized I'm at the electric gym lol, that would be a bad time to do so.

It's like Machamp being named Dumbbuff, or Makuhita being named Kungbelly. It's just embarrassing lol. Then there's the forgettable name. I do, I'm going to be on for a few more hours, just name a time and it should be fine. Just trade it for whatever, I already have the Goth pokemon so don't need any exclusives up to the point in the game we're both at roughly. Then I'll help you evolve Girdurr after.

Also I picked up the turtle Pokemon Tirtouga myself. It's a male so I'll need a ditto to breed it (or pick a female up off of GTS) so I can't trade one right now. However some time down the road I'll trade you one for an Archen (think that's the name of the Plume feather fossil) if you end up breeding some.

I like Conkeldurr's name because of how hilarious it sounds. Though, I think it's supposed to be pronounced "Conk-elder" and not "Conkle-durr(p)".

That helps a bit, tho I'll probably still pronounce it with the durr ending lol. Atleast that explains the grey mini-beard looking thing.

I know I did!

I got Red in second grade and had no idea the PC systems could be used or that I could use Pokemon besides my first 6 until I ran into my friend one day and he mentioned it... But I had already beaten the League with my Blastoise that I leveled up to 100 without a single rare candy and my Nidoroyalfamily, Pidgeot, Raichu, and Raticate. So once I found out I could use my other Pokemon I got to start over from Pallet Town, minus Gym Leaders and the trainers I didn't slip by.

Got myself a pretty good team going thanks to Fading. Got a Gigalith and Conkeldurr. Two powerhouses plus my Dewott have been doing me good

Team Plasma is an order that believes Pokémon and humans cannot truly co-exist. The lastest in line to lead Team Plasma is N. N was raised alonside Pokémon since he was very young and can communicate with Pokémon on a level no one else can. Team Plasma is trying to create a world where all Pokémon are free and humans live seperate from them. Team Plasma is traveling around Unova to further this cause, and the further into the game you go, the more radical their actions become. Ultimately, N decides to locate the Legendary Pokémon Zekkrom/Reshiram to use its powers to further their goals.

That's a rather about-turn from the likes of Team Galaxy. I'm interested. The new Pokemon don't really bother me so as long as I can trade in my Platinum version guys. I might pick it up end of the month. White or Black I wonder...?
