Found someone who was kind enough to trade my average pokemon for some gen1 pokemon. Got a Bulbasaur, Ditto, Evee, Dratini.

I think they weakened her in HGSS which is disappointing since I had a Heracross with Brick Break to roflstomp her.

I thought the opposite. I had no trouble at all in Silver but in Soul Silver it took 3 or 4 tries because of ****ing Attract.

BTW I got an event Raikou, and was temp loaned an event Celebi, so no longer need the event shinies, thanks again for the offer tho. I was in a Gamestop the other day, and heard the Gamestop ppl talking Pokemon, and I mentioned how I forgot to come in for the event. One of the guys behind the counter said he had and extra Raikou, and would loan me his extra Celebi long enough to get Zorua.

Also went ahead and got Victini. Love his animation lol. I tried to get a good nature, but it was just not working my way. I used about 15 ultraballs, 3 timers, 6 premiers, 1 quick, and 2 ultra's for like 4 captures (3 of those times he was in red with thunder wave on him too, he just wouldn't stay captured), and 3 of those were Lax, and the last Serious. Finally I caught him with the first quick ball and got a Timid and stuck with it. I was planning on making him a special attacker anyway (if I use him, I really don't like using Legendaries for some reason), and + speed is always nice.


I was also happy to get Zorua, but after looking up his stats later, he's definitely a glass cannon. Figured I'll get my use out of him now, I really like his look. On a funny note I was using EXP share on him. My first battle actually bringing him out I forgot his ability, and he came out looking like Servine (didn't help that my Zorua had grass knot as well), and I sat there for like 5 seconds confused until it hit me and I felt like an idiot lol.

I got my Black version today and man am I annoyed. The pokemon you get to choose from in the beginning is awful. Your choices are ****** Dog pokemon or ****** Rat pokemon. I'm leaning on my starter more than I ever have in a Pokemon game

But the dog is cute.

I mean he's no Poochyena or Pidgey...but he's cute.

The chipmunk is silly looking...but I've been using them both like crazy since that's all you start with.

I didn't catch any of the first few except the pigeon, which I ditched shortly after it evolved. The pokemon start getting cool once you get into the desert area, I think.

I'm using Patrat, simply because he's working. I'm gonna catch that Munna in the Dreamyard and give it a chance. Psychics have always worked well for me

The dog is actually really good to start, IMO. Patrat wasn't too bad either. But the dark cat sucks, so fraile and weak.

Once you reach the 2nd town, you'll be able to get Timburr who is awesome. I got mine evolved to a Conkeldurr but I replaced him earlier today with Axew. He will be missed

And once you get to Wellspring Cave, you'll be able to get Roggenrola (if you picked Oshawott, he will be a HUGE asset against the Electric gym), Blitzle (learns a fire move which is helpful against the 3rd gym), and Drilbur (who evolves into the awesome Excadrill. He's my go-to pokemon when I'm in a jam).

And then there's Norman with his two...count em'...two Slaking. Normal Gym Leaders are just naturally difficult.

I'll always remember Whitney as the most difficult Gym Leader of all time. Though I seriously didn't have any trouble with Leona, just wait till you get to Drayden and Iris, the last Gym. THAT will show you how difficult a final Gym should be. Leona? Whitney?! Pff...

Tell you what, Pansear helped beat the first Gym Leader, but he's pretty useless after that. He levels SLOWLY and his moveset isn't very good either. I did capture a Woobat and Roggenrolla that are doing really well for me

Thats the way it is with anyone who evolves with a stone

There are Pokemon that continue to learn their moves after you use a stone. Examples include Honchkrow, Lilligant, Roserade...only ones I can think of.
