Kinda regretting not showing restraint in bringing older Pokemon over now. I was so eager to start building a dream team I didn't stop to think about all the moves you can only put on a Pokemon in generation 4 to bring over to Black and White.

Case in point, Dark Pulse Deino. Have to bring over an Ekans, Arbok, or Seviper who you used a Dark Pulse TM on. I nearly cleaned out my Platinum game, and my Heart Gold only had things like Rattatata's left. Luckily I remembered you could get an Ekans at Game Corner, and had 1500 points left, and had 1 Dark Pulse left. Was bummed at first tho, I went to look on GTS right away on Platinum and all the Ekans/Arboks/Sevipers were up for Mew's and Darkrai's.

Anyway just thought I'd share that in case you guys had moves you wanted to bring over and forgot before you do the same thing as me. As a side note tho, I do have 3 extra normal Modest Deino's (brought my Modest and Adamant Ditto's over, and had to breed a female Deino to breed with the male Ekans), and an Adamant, Modest, and forget the third Deino with Dark Pulse on it if anyone wants one.

Deino does learn Crunch which is actually just as good since Psychics and Ghost typically have poor Defense.

I wish they hadn't dropped Dark Pulse and Dragon Pulse from TM status. There are no other good Dark moves on TMs and Dragon Tail sucks.

Gah, I'm a moron. I was asking about a place to double battle so Smeargle could learn close combat...duh, dark grass patches have tons of double battles. So nevermind lol, I went brain dead for a bit.

Finished EV'ing and lvling up a pure gen 5 team to 60, found the Sages, and explored the last few areas. Sooo just about ready to focus on putting together a team out of every team I've leveled so far and focus on getting them lvl'd and beat the E4 again.

The only things things I can say on the above is - A) I seem to have a bugged White, White forest has nothing, one house, no items, no grass patches :(, and I read it can only be fixed by linking up with someone which is doubtful in my case. B) Larvesta and Deino are a ***** to raise. I haven't quite finished Deino, he's a Zweilous now, but I can say tho that Larvest was well worth it, he's a beast atm. The only downside was while sage hunting I found out you can catch a lvl 70 Volcarona...oh well I like raising Pokes from scratch anyway.

White Forest and Black City have this silly mechanism where you have to talk or interact with the inhabitants each day, or they will slowly disappear.

Gotcha, thanks. That sucks.

BTW in case everyone didn't know, the global link was delayed due to the Japan earthquake, and a need for lowered energy consumption I believe. So not sure when we're getting Dreamworld. However the good news is, free Dreamworld Eevolution Pokemon :woot:.

After you've created you're account on Pokemon.com, you can play the befriend a Pokemon game. It's a bounce the ball and break all the ice blocks game. A bit tougher than it looks since you can't fullscreen and end up moving your mouse out of the game (atleast I did a few times). When you break a block of ice a little orb may fall down with an element in it. Whichever element you collect the most of is the Eevolution you'll be given the chance to accept. So fire = Flareon, Water = Vaporeon, and so on. If you don't get the one you want, decline and restart again, and you have to beat all 4 levels to get a shot at another Eevee. Once you accept tho that's it, your account and game can only receive that one Eevee type from the giveaway.

Pretty hard choice tho. IMO the rest are throw aways Dreamworld ability wise for the most part, but Espeon and Vaporeon's Dreamworld abilities kick ass. Vaporeon recovers hp or something like that from status effects, and Espeon bounces back negative status effects and entry hazards (which sounds like an awesome lead, make someone think twice about tossing out Stealth Rocks or Spikes, and put a stop to the toxic stalling). I already have a 65 Vaporeon tho, so went with Espeon, hoping I can get a Vaporeon Dreamworld one later on down the road.

I was having a blast with the game until about the 4th or 5th gym, then for some reason every trainer and wild Pokemon started kicking my ass. Really weird, I think its because I started battling fully evolved Pokemon, when all of mine were still in their second stages (all late-30 evolvers).

I find it a bit frustrating that:

a. Most of the Pokemon in the game evolve in their late 30s (two-stagers)
b. Most of the Pokemon in the game are weird hybrid types (electric/flying)
c. Most of the Pokemon have weird stats that kick everybody's asses, damn you Sigilyph!

And what is the deal with the wild Pokemon encounter rate in this game? I can't step into one square of grass without hitting another Pokemon.

Ah glad I'm not the only one. Everything you just listed is stuff thats been bugging me about this game. I haven't played it in a week or so for those reasons.

As much as I enjoy the Pokemon games, GameFreak really need to step it up. I'm confused why the feel the need to keep things the same after 12 years of developing basically the same game over and over again.

I really want cooperative play. Playing Pokemon with a friend in the same game? That would be pretty awesome.

What levels are your Pokemon in comparison to wild Pokemon in adjacent areas? I always fought every trainer in gyms and on routes and never had problems. Only times I'd have to grind is if I just caught a Pokemon or just beat a gym and wanted the others to be the similar levels.

For Electric/Flying Pokemon, Rock attacks are your best friend. Same goes for Sigilyph.

Because that game earns them millions each time they release it?

I haven't messed with it, but pretty sure there is coop play this time around. If someones in range you can use C-Link (which is a battery hog) to cross a bridge and enter someone elses game, and get some rewards for completing certain objectives. I do wish it was online capable tho. I believe you can also do coop dual battle matches in the Battle Subway.

Personally I'm loving White, and think it took a much bigger step towards where the series needs to go than the last few installments. It added a better story, more online components, more multiplayer, and new battle modes. I'm not entirely against change however as long as it doesn't break the series. Outside of going full 3D (sprites and map, not 3DS 3D), and adding more online support, the only way to move forward is a change in the battle style. Which is a very risky gamble for such a well doing series. Since Pokemon is such a huge seller, Gamefreak really has to weigh whether it's worth risking millions of sales by taking too huge of leaps forward and potentially breaking the series. Too many good game series have went down the crapper for trying to change too much too fast. I think Pokemon, while at times a bit slow on change, has more of the right idea in a gradual transition.

I do think the number of legendaries and some of the pokedex entries could be exploited to produce an interesting story. There's lots of potential in this franchise.

i was just viewing my pokedroid app on my phone, and while i don't have black or white yet... there "Cry's"are so much more detailed... i love them!, i really wish they'd update the first 2 generations to sound as interesting... keep there old tune, but just altered a bit to be as detailed and quality sounding

Having a Japanese version, I thought it wouldn't be as much fun playing these games a 2nd time around so I put off getting the American versions of Black & White. But instead I've been presented with an opportunity to try new teams without having to delete my current game(s) for once, so I came up with a new team for my US Black, and as an added excuse to play around with the sprites, I present this team. Not since Yellow have I purposely used all the starters.

Zeio, ViceVine, BigBlaze, SeaStrike, CruelCroc, and WarWing.

I read somewhere that it was posted on the official site that the global link would be opened April 13th, but was quickly pulled. Even if it was pulled, that might mean it's close to being ready to come back up, meaning a likely April release.

------------

ATM my team is

Garchomp (Jolly, Yache Berry) - Outrage, Earthquake, Fire Fang, Swords Dance
Scizor (Adamant, Life Orb) - Bullet Punch, Superpower, U-Turn, Roost
Arcanine (Jolly, Muscle Band) - Close Combat, Flare Blitz, Extreme Speed, Morning Sun.
Ferrothorn (Sassy, Rocky Helmet) - Gyro Ball, Explosion, Stealth Rock, Spikes
Milotic (Bold, Leftovers) - Scald, Ice Beam, Recover, Aqua Ring

and iffy on the last spot.

Either Adamant, guts, Conkeldurr with a flame orb, Drain Punch, Mach Punch, Stone Edge, and Bulk up, or a special attacker since I'm kinda lacking in that area. I have a Reuniclus and Hydreigon that can fit that role, but not sure.

Got them all to 75, and now focusing on end game and online battling. Mowed thru Cynthia already lol. Now to mess with the Elite 4 again once I decide on that last spot. I just wanted a solid team before I got too into leveling up, otherwise it's a waste of time if I'm constantly switching out and releveling at this point in the game. I'm wanting a team of lvl 100's is why I'm saying that.

I know I'm waayyyyy late, but I just got Leaf Green, and I've forgotten how addicting Pokemon games are. I haven't played one since Crystal and got rid of my RBY/GSC a while ago so I couldn't play them. I remember not wanting to go through Ruby or Sapphire when they came out because I didn't want to deal with learning about more new pokemon, and I still kinda don't want, but I've been impressed by this one that I'm kinda thinking about getting ?Heart Gold or Soul Silver, and borrowing my nephew's DS to play them, just o see how improved the gameplay is on those.

Playing Leaf Green though has been a pleasant trip down memory lane, and has made me start to wonder again why they haven't made a full-fledged 3d version of these games for the Wii.

Hey guys,

name two things Geodudes are good for, according to Gary Oak.

So I just beat the Elite Four and my rival in Leaf Green, and I thought it was simply poetic how, despite being greatly under-leveled by nearly 20 with most of my team, and after using up nearly 20 Full Restores and 30 Revives just to stay alive in that last battle, that it was my Charizard that not only delivered the final blow, but was the last pokemon standing in that battle.

Such a perfect ending to a really hard fought battle.
