The Amazing Spider-Man J Jonah Jameson in the Reboot

Actually I do. Believe it or not not all movies cast all their actors before the camera starts rolling. I bet you still think that all movies are shot in sequential order :whatever:

Maybe they don't want to tell us yet, or maybe they haven't cast the role yet. They could be filming any scenes that JJ is not a part of and as soon as they cast him, they'll film the scenes with him. Although Mark Strong had already been cast as Sinestro, he didn't start working on the film until close to the end of Green Lantern's filming.
why would you whait with the casting so late? why would you cast this character so late while already filming?

No idea. Besides, they haven't been filming that long. About a month and they even had a break. Either way, I guess we'll find out soon. Possibly by Comic-Con we'll know the villain and if JJ is part of this. It wouldn't make any sense to not have JJ and the Daily Bugle in the movie. At least to me it wouldn't.

Sadly, I'm slowly believing that he won't be in it. This reboot may be in the vein of Casino Royale rather than Batman Begins and strip the character down to the bare essentials, making it more of a character-focus story (I know BB focused on Batman, but the supporting cast was still a major addition).

Perhaps the SM reboot with reintroduce the character to audiences (minus an origin) and wait for the sequels to reintroduce the supporting characters (Daily Bugle cast, Norman & Harry Osborn, etc) and allow for the general audience to anticipate sequels even more

That seems like a good idea.

Possibly, but I still wouldn't rule out Jameson just yet.

Neither would I. As alot of people have already said, they may as well cast him later on

JJJ can be cast at anytime and his scenes (with robbie) can be filmed at anytime (even just before wrap up) he (JJJ) needn't even SEE peter or spidey.

they can take the angle of antagonist who stirs up public opinion against spidey, then in a sequel he could hire peter to actually take pictures for him when he (JJJ) discovers spidey actually sells newspapers.

I honestly can't believe people act like they hate this series so much now. When Spiderman first came out, one of the favorites amongst fans was the portrayal of J Jonah Jameson, now he's too cartoony or goofy? C'mon now, if that wasn't JJ ripped straight out of the comics, I don't know what was

The flip flopping is ridiculous.

Maybe we won't get JJJ in the first film, but in the second. It would be a nice addition to a sequel I think. This film could just have hints at the Daily Bugle's criticism of Spider-Man, but not show the Bugle itself.

I guess that's possible. Still, I just have a feeling JJJ's in the film.

This is actually a good idea if true. Let us relate to the character, Batman Begins style, slow growth, and introduce the mythology bit by bit. That's a great formula.

I'm still wondering if Norman Osborn is in this film, however, I would hope so. I want him established, in the creating villains ala TSSM type role.

No Jameson makes me sad. It's not really Spider-Man without Jameson berating the hell out of him. I guess we'll wait and see. If he isn't in it and I see the film, perhaps it'll be a good reason why.

Uh, I don't see Elliot being right for it. He was an awesome General Ross but I have yet to see him in a single movie where he completely lost his midwestern twang. JJJ's NYC all the way and twang don't go there.

He's too stern to be JJ.

Hugh Laurie... all I'm sayin'.

I highly doubt there's reason to believe JJ isn't in the film just because his casting hasn't been announced yet. Does nobody remember those reports awhile ago about how John Slattery and a few other contenders had done auditions for the role?

Yeah, Sam Elliot was also rumored. But then Elliot commented on the rumors saying he wasn't aware.
