Rogue One James Earl Jones is Darth Vader in Rogue One

The "corridor scene" was so awesome and finally demonstrated why he had the reputation he did. It also made me appreciate Luke's ability even more now. I thought we got the right amount of Vader in Rogue One.

And it needs to be done soon. JEJ turns 86 in January. There is no way to replace him. I was watching Empire on TV yesterday and couldn't help but notice the little inflections in his voice. Just little changes in tone and direction that you cannot replace. Impossible.

You're right but... I think it might be possible. This is a bit random but there's an actor named Cedric Yarbrough who I think might be able to pull off the voice. He sounds (and looks) a lot like a young James Earl Jones.

I think Vader is best in small doses. A full movie of him in full Vader mode (Unlike the prequels where he was Anakin mostly) might "demystify" him.

I liked that novel too, but the problem is that it's canon. Lucasfilm would be in a difficult position because any changes they made to the source material would clash with their overlaying canon policy. They made a conscious effort to not go back to the old way of doing things with "different levels" of canon.

That was the George Lucas method, and it led to lots of confusion and contradiction. Lucasfilm's current view is that it's just "one canon".

How? He's the villain. He's not meant to be sympathetic until RoTJ.

There are two canon novels that feature Vader a lot; Tarkin and The Sith Lords. Clearly they feel like they can publish something where you see things from the point of view of the villains as well.

Not that I think they will take that step in the movies any time soon. I wish they would though.

I'd like to see one that happens not long after Revenge of the Sith where he hunts down a group of Jedi that escaped Order 66. Basically like Alien except Vader is the Xenomorph.

Well ask yourself this, why would Lucasfilm tell the same canon story twice? And if they did and there was discrepancies between the two, which one is the "real" canon version and which one isn't? It opens up a can of worms that I don't think Lucasfilm want.

I really dig the Vader graphic novel that came out not too long ago, would make for a killer movie.

I still think a movie based on TFU would be huge.

Vader in this movie did something Vader in the Prequels, nor Originals could ever do.

He scared the hell out of me.

Indeed, I felt all my hair standing up and a huge chill going down my spine.

That might just be one of the best scenes ever in any Star Wars movie.

Lords of the Sith was basically what we seen him do in this movie, except he space walks into a hole left by his kamikaze ship. To see that live action would be so, so cool.

I know they had to get the data to her somehow, but they couldn't have just maybe done something with her on her ship, at the outskirts of the battle and had someone say "we're receiving an emergency transmission!" and have Leia acknowledge the transmission as "hope."

The Vader scene could've still happened. Just have Vader cutting his way through the soldiers and the final one press the button to send the transmission out.

Vader knows she has them, he knows she is lying. There was never plausible deniability. Otherwise the Rebels wouldn't fire on the Imperials from the outset.

Leia is simply trying to buy time for R2 to find Obi-Wan.
