Rogue One James Earl Jones is Darth Vader in Rogue One

Yeah, people say he doesn't make puns, I make Vader quotes. He made puns. "Apology Accepted, Captain Needa" is a pun. This is some really odd criticism to make.
"Apology accepted" is not a pun. A pun plays upon a word or phrase's multiple meanings. Vader was being ironic there (saying/doing something that signifies the opposite).

But the type of joke the line in question was doesn't matter; the point is that it was stupid. If you want to make Vader say something that is both scary and funny, fine. Just don't make it groan worthy. It diminishes the character.

And yes, this is simply my personal opinion. I won't fault others for thinking the line was fine.

I have to see the scene again, but in the brief shot we get of Vader in the bath, he looks like both his arms are flesh…when they should both be cybernetic …

Vader has stumps. He basically has arms to the elbows, but everything else is gone. Both his metal arms and legs are detached while he is in the Bacta Tank apparently.

^ His arms are severed from the elbows. He doesn't have his mechanical limbs on in the tank.

Give me a Darth Vader movie. Now.

This feels more like a real movie over TFA.
TFA was like do you remember this? Do you remember this?
The easter eggs in this one were more natural

Both films overindulge in callbacks for their own sake, instead of being a natural extension of the story, but I felt like it was more egregious in Rogue One. In TFA they were unnecessary but weren't top distracting. Every time R1 did it, it seemed liked the movie stopped just so you could bask it how clever and cool the filmmakers were to wink and nod at the past films. The way they brought up Obi-Wan in particular was poorly handled and groan-inducing.

Young Anakin =/= Vader. By this logic, it should be ok to see Vader whine and complain about sand, too.

Young Luke =/= TFA Luke. By this logic, it should be ok to see Luke throw a fit about not getting to go to the Tosche station, too.

Yeah, obvious troll as obvious as all heck, from that 1/10 rating to this kind of childishness. Ignored, carry on, too old for this nonsense.

I'm getting really sick of your attitude. Just because I have a difference of opinion from you and most posters, I'm a troll?

Yes, I seem to disagree with the general consensus of what is popular. I didn't like JJ Star Trek, Avengers 1, DoFP or GotG either. That doesn't mean I'm a contrarian just for the sake of it. I liked TDK & Iron Man 1 just like most people. I simply have a different idea of what makes a good movie. Rogue One doesn't mesh with my tastes. I paid money to see it, and this board is a perfectly reasonable place to voice my misgivings.

If you don't like what I have to say, just block me.

I will admit, though, my emotions got the better of me when rating. Upon comparing this movie with others from 2016 that I disliked, I'd probably raise my rating to a 4/10. My criticisms about it haven't changed, but there were much worse (or just more boring) movies that I saw this year (Gods of Egypt, X-Men, Jason Bourne, Star Trek, Jack Reacher, Huntsman).

The bacta tank scene was pretty horrifying. Very glad they cut away before you could get a good look at him. This movie probably more than any other really showed how much of a monster he is.

It adds a layer of tragedy as well. This man was a hero once, he was capable of compassion and now he's a grotesque cripple. He came across like a combination of Frankenstein's creature and Mason Verger, living in Barad dur....it perfectly showed how far he's fallen.

Edit: I hope Disney releases an extended cut on Blu-Ray with more Vader scenes (the ones from the trailers that didn't make it into the movie).

He was awesome, pun and all.
But you could tell that Earl's voice has aged.

Who was inside the suit? The final scene was pure Vader.

Two people played him. David Prowse sneaked onto the set but he was promptly thrown out.

Have you read the recent Marvel Vader comic? I think something like that is pretty close to what they'd do.

It was cool seeing Vader again but I was distracted by the fact that the actor in the suit was noticeably shorter and less broad-shouldered than David Prowse in ANH. At least he looked that way to me...

Agreed. They should really stop these references. Like putting in the chap at jedha whose hand obiwan chopped off. What's the purpose, i can only guess. But it was really distracting.

Spencer Wilding, who played Vader for the first scene, is the same height as David Prowse. He is former boxer and quite broad, so I don't think there is much of a difference there. They used Daniel Naprous,
a skilled stunt performer and swordsman, for the rampage scene. I can't seem to find Naprous's height anywhere, but he is likely not quite as big. However, they did much the same thing in the OT. In Empire and I think Jedi, championship fencer, Bob Anderson, replaced Prowse for the duelling scenes. He was only 6'2" and much less bulky than Prowse.

The first time I heard his voice it sounded very much like he was in A New Hope. After that, you could tell the voice had aged.

I also loved the way it played into how sensory deprivation is part of his torture as well; he can't see or hear out of the thing and he just floats there with no arms or legs and an artificial respirator and head gear as his only company. If he didn't have the Force, he'd have no clear sign of the rest of the Galaxy.
