Guardians of the Galaxy James gunn fired!!! - Part 1

I don't think Gunn would have even thought to joke about having 'little girls touch him in his silly place' because that would have made him look like a huge creep.

But boys? It's a laugh riot! He's just being funny! LOL

See what I mean?

No....I don't. I don't find child molestation funny in the slightest.

Yeah I'm kinda with this

Batista us sticking by his friend so that is what it is. But hell be screwed if he walks out the Disney contract. Who will want to hire him when he is shown not to "play the game?"

You hear a lot about talent that is blacklisted because they don't play the game
Oh he knows how to play the game. :o

And I get that Gunn isn't a bad guy. I'm not saying he is. But Batista and everyone saying "He's a good guy" like good guys don't make mistakes. And that's what Gunn did

The flip side to that though is he’s showing the type of loyalty that a lot of companies would value.

Yes we do disagree. I think everyone would take a grown man "joking" about raping a 10 year old boy or girl pretty much the same way. But then again, for your argument earlier you did decide to switch it to a woman raping a 14-15 year old boy, so I am not sure what you are trying to argue at this point.

Fine I will concede that having sex with a 14 year old isn't the same has having sex with a 10 year old.

But it's still child abuse and there is still a huge double standard in the way the media reacts to it.

The biggest takeaway from this for me is that a lot of adults don't get how the business world works.

The flip side to that though is he’s showing the type of loyalty that a lot of companies would value.

They don't care about loyalty when he's going against the company. They like company loyalty but Batista isnt showing that. He's doing the opposite.

The thing about Hollywood is it is a lot like sports leagues. The studio heads do things based on what's "best for business" as a whole. They talk, a ton, even if they aren't friends. And plenty of them are friends. They wouldn't want someone doing that to them, so it is a situation where they'd probably clear it with Iger/Horn/Disney first.

I don't think child molestation is funny, but I've laughed at Herbert the Pervert on Family Guy so if that makes me a bad person so be it.

I would argue nothing is sacred when it comes to comedy. It's really all about how it's timed and presented.

Gunn just sounded like an idiot and a creep.

There is no having sex with a 14 or 10 year old. Its rape.

Yeah I'm sure a lot of companies want an actor openly trashing them on social media after they gave him a huge role in a huge franchise because he's straight up "loyal."

There are levels to being loyal IMO. You can be loyal without torpedoing your own career.

I think Batista can express his support for Gunn in a more diplomatic way, but he's his own person. Whatever.

Any self respecting company is going to look at the whole situation and understand why he’s taking this stand against Disney. He’ll be fine IMO, if anything he’s earned himself the type of goodwill that most actors would love to get.

OK sure. The guy who openly is disrespecting his current company and contract is going to get points from other companies for being loyal

That's not how the business world works especially with a multi billion dollar conglomerate like Disney.
I don't think his career will be 100% done but it'll take a hit and I won't be surprised if he doesn't get a major role in a major movie for a while

You do realize in Hollywood, in the self-respecting company list, its Disney. I mean, they aren't great, but relative to Hollywood, it would be them. They protect their brand.

Then apparently the media doesn't care about rape when the victim is a 14 year old boy.
You're just wrong. Plenty of media cares and reports on the rape of teenage boys all the time.

No they won't.

The guy wants to be released from his active contract that he signed. I don't see it anyone from otjer studios will see it as positive, more like trouble maker.

Loyalty like what Bautista is showing to Gunn is the type of characteristic that is going to win over a lot of goodwill and support. In a world where those values are few and far between publicly you would have to be mad as a studio not to see the benefit of hiring that type of person. His beef with Disney is entirely understandable because the company itself didn’t handle this correctly. I’m not saying it will go this way but also don’t think this will ruin him either.

Geoff Johns has him on speed dial right now to play Solomon Grundy in DC :D

What about the loyalty and support studio heads show one another? That is exactly why Hollywood is built the way it is. They all know each other.

I will say this though, Bautista’s comments have kinda put everyone in a corner. Not quit sure what happens next.

People keep talking about things they know nothing about as if they were facts.

Now that is funny.

That’s assuming they agree with how Disney handled this.

^ There's just 22 female teachers that were either charged or convicted in 2017 of having relations with underage male students. For reference there were 20 unarmed black people fatally shot by police that same year.

What causes one to become a media frenzy, and the other to be largely ignored? Where are all the movements to speak out on these boys behalf? Why aren't any of these sexual abuse activists making this a regular talking point?

We've all heard how pissing off one studio exec can blackball/impead an actresses whole career at multiple studios.
You think that wouldn't happen here too?
