Jared Leto IS The Joker - - - Part 12

I love how this Joker is wearing a lot of different outfits, and all of them hit the spot for me. Especially that black suit. It's like he's at a funeral, laughing in the face of death.
Yeah, after Ledger's Joker (who I still love, so none of you motherf***ers better accuse me of trashing the past iteration in favor of the shiny, new one) wearing the same s*** throughout TDK, I do like that Leto's Joker has a little more Joie de vivre.

I hope we get lots of variant looks throughout the DCEU. I will say, Leto's Joker does look like a guy rolling in cash, with swag to spare so I can a little more easily imagine this version having a crew that want to follow in his footsteps.

So impressed with what they're doing.

100x more affecting and interesting than those professional 'comic accurate' Joker cosplayers and fan films imo.

Sort of surprised that I'm still seeing some negative reactions to his stuff in this trailer.

I'm starting to understand the reason behind the tattoos. Sure, Ayer may have simply desired to place his own stamp upon the character in the way Nolan did.
But, I think, when you have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make something unique, you have every right to cease that.
Sure, we see the complaints of the grills and the tats, and they have every right to exist, there's no denying someone over a feeling or an opinion they have brewing.
And Ayer hasn't just made these changes to the Joker just for the sake of being different. Nolan apparently had zero interest in returning to the Batman films and it was only until he envisioned the concept of what would become HIS Joker, that he ultimately decided to return.
Leto's Joker is Ayer's, too... but he's added, what? A few tattoos and grills... and what's he changed or stripped away in the process? Nothing.
All he's done, and this is something everybody should be giving him a pat on the back for, is embraced the zaniness, the unpredictability and the monstrous beauty the Joker possesses.
This Joker, is a complete celebration and enhancement of everybody's favourite comic book clown. Ayer has been made fully aware of wht he can do and bring, in every sense, with every shot and every piece of clothing the Joker is featured in. The comics do this all the time with him, but the one thing they can't do... is tat and grill him.
Ayer's hasn't done this JUST to be artsy, hip or contemporary... He's done to enhance the Joker's beauty and character. If you strip away those elements, which could possibly happen, I'd say it would be a disservice to Ayer and that wouldn't be fair.
It would've been like asking Nolan to compromise his vision by having Heath's character later fall into chemicals in order to satisfy the demands of a perma-white Joker.

Like I said, everybody has an opinion on Ayer's Joker, but there's no denying the thought, the creativeness and the balls he's put into the celebrating the character.

Every incarnation of the Joker on screen has exhibited a spirit unique to him. In B89, it's 80s masculinity and being a loud exhibitionist. In TDK, it's very much the grungy agent of chaos who lives between the cracks, which still is relevant to these times. In SS, it seems we're getting the 21st century excess of tattoos, bling and grillz, and someone who could be an ice user. The tattoos honestly don't bother me these days. I've accepted they're here to stay and that's the look. It's what sets Leto's Joker apart, but I also think there's a lot more going on with him than just that.

You know, for anyone who dosent want the joker tattoos, consider the following....
All signs point to Tattoo man (played by common) being the main antagonist of the film.
I don't know about you guys, but it seems oddly specific to me that Ayer would choose tattoo man as the villian, with This particular incarnation of Harley Quinn and joker, I'm talking about thier tattoos. The tattoos are so OUT THERE and on the nose, it almost seems like they will serve a purpose.
Now I'll admit, I wasn't familiar with tattoo man so I had to do some light research. Essentially, he can bring tattoos to life. What if we get a scene where say, tattoo man grabs jokers arm and that robin tattoo flutters away, then he grabs jokers head and the damaged tat and J tat float away, or maybe he brings the skull jester to life to have it run amok in midway. It would give us some super cool visuals and in the process return joker to a nice clean slate for future films.
Just a thought

Too late. I already accuse you of trashing Heath's Joker. :cmad:

Ledger's Joker was comic book accurate. Very comic book accurate in fact.

Yup. All the live-action Jokers have been comic accurate in different ways, technically. That list will definitely include Leto, it seems.

Just a thought

I wish...

You know I had not even heard of Tattooed Man until this movie.

What signs point to Tattoo Man being the main antagonist of the film? I must have missed something, aside from Common being spotted once on set as the character...

.....who is tattoo man? Is that an actual character?

This is common on set

And this is him in the comics

One particular thing he's know for is a dragon tat he brings to life to attack his enemies. In the subway scene of the trailer, you can see the neon green tentacle moving through the subway cars that looks an awful lot like a dragon. Just sayin

^That's the third guy using that name, right?

He's a Green Lantern villain.

Figures why I don't know of him. Only GL villain I know is Sinestro.

If this guy makes the tattoos disappear he'll be the hero of the movie.

I think he's going to be the guy, who gets his head blown off for demonstration purposes.

The Tattooed man can animate the tattoos on his body. I don't see how he can zombify those soldiers or how he's responsible for this.
