Jared Leto IS The Joker - - - - - - Part 15

Killing Joke was R for the same reason Conjuring is R I'd reckon, disturbing imagery. No blood. No gore. Nothing explicit. BUT what it suggests is what makes it R. That's why to me the Joker is R. Arkham Asylum (forgot full title) would be rated R as well I think. Just those are my favorite Joker stories and they're R rated. Not saying have it be R. But an R that's cut back for theatrical as little as possible then having an R rated director's cut with it all in would be my dream.

It was Joker unbuttoning Barbara's shirt, plus the whole carnival ride through hell that most likely did it. The film suggested rape. Then you have demonic type imagery abounding.

Glad to finally read The Joker's thoughts on the film and lines up with how I feel, would love to see him do an analysis

The Killing Joke needs to stay in the 80's and be left the **** alone. It's been taken for granted to the point of it feeling like it's almost the comic's fault for creating such a gross reaction.

thought Leto was fantastic as joker
was kind of hoping he was more prominent but as is it definitely left me wanting more of him in future movies which i'm sure we'll get anyway

i'd like an extended cut with more of his scenes ala dawn of justice

Mark hasn't done ****. His voice has.
Not for lack of trying, in fact he was going to play The Joker in Sandy Collora's Dead End but then pulled out when Stallone pulled out. Not to mention that voice alone has captured the Joker perfectly. I think he deserves my respect than that..

the good thing about leto possibly going forward with the joker role is that he has the advantage now of not having to top his own performance which was not the joker but merely a joke. Starting with this low base anything will be seen as revelatory based on some of the support in here. too effeminate, perhaps a more interesting take would have the joker having a physical attraction to batman. now that would have been more entertaining and possibly organic

I think Jared was exceptional, so I can't agree with the performance being a "joke" but I will agree that it's a good thing going forward he doesn't have to have the bar set so ridiculously high.

he cant be exceptional and start from a low base unless you expect his next act to be the greatest performance of all time. nothing would surprise around here

No, that's your opinion, not mine. And I'm not expecting the greatest performance of all time. Again, that's all you.

I love the portrayal, you don't. Live with it.

Apparently the MPAA gave the Conjuring a R rating for being too scary.

This quote from the article possible gives me hope that WB would actually let Wan put out the movie he made and edited for Aquaman.
James Wan added that he’d received little studio interference during the making of The Conjuring, and says that the R rating:

“[Is] a testament to the studio for not *****ing with the film. It works and they are sticking to it and I’m very thankful for that.“

Thanks man, but there's not much to analyze with Letoker. He was a wafer thin character who just wanted to find his gf. There was no meat to his character.

I'd LOVE to see an R Rated Aquaman, that'd be interesting. Very less needed for that character. But would be very intriguing. HOWEVER with that I highly doubt it. Suicide Squad could be in a sequel feasibly. But Aquaman is going to be one of their most expensive films.to date I think. Unsure if that's part of where you're going with that tacit, I probably misinterpreted that...

The more high profile and the higher the budget, the more all studios become hands on more. Here I'd actually blame the test audiences for a lot of Joker scenes missing. Women probably hated that Harley was battered around, stated as such and since that was in many Joker scenes Joker basically had to be cut out because of that.

Yeah I was thinking along the lines of an analysis of what was wrong with him :hehe: and you're right that he was wafer thin.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if we found out Jared sent the WB execs some twisted gifts after having so many of his scenes cut and edited to make Joker more friendly.

He sent them Joker action figures with their heads cut off along with a note that reads in the Joker's handwriting:

"HAHHA You're Next! : ) "

He clearly lost weight by the time of that music vid. Still looks better in that vid that anywhere though.

I keep hearing this all over the place and I'm not making the connection at all, so I guess I'll just ask. What are the similarities people are seeing with Leto and Hamill's Joker? I really want to know. Literally nothing comes to mind.

And this isn't a post where I'm going to crap on people's opinions, I just genuinely want to see if I can also make the comparison.

I don't really see it at all.

I've heard people say that Leto is similar to Hamill's Joker after one of the test screening. Although because two different versions were shown at the test screenings I guess that the Hamill comments came from the version that didn't get the theatrical release.

Sitting in the theater now. I'll let you guys know what I think!

The mouthpiece really did his voice a disservice as he sounded like he had Invisalign in. He wasn't horrible but he didn't really have a presence outside of pining for Harley. I know he wasn't the main antagonist but compared to the first time we see Nicholson's or Ledger's Joker, Leto's version was just kind of "there."

Hope you enjoy it as much as some of us have. :woot:

As far as comparing Leto's Joker to Hamill's, I don't see much resemblance either. You really gotta wonder why they would cut so many scenes, especially involving The Joker, who was probably the biggest draw, aside from Harley Quinn/Deadshot.

I really don't think anyone would have complained if the movie was 2 and a half hours... It felt like it moved rather fast as it is.

To the ppl complaining about deleted scenes, It's called filmaking, guys. :o
