got to fix that hair after - presentation is everything.

Some of the things you guys think are deleted scenes are from the Purple Lamborghini music video.

I hate when they make dark and disturbing movies more kid friendly because parents are irresponsible.

So in the beginning I really, really hated Joker's look. I still do today. All of the trailers though, gave me the impression that he could do well in the role. And then I watched the movie. The dialogue was weird. Joker's motivations were weird. The performance was honestly one of the worst things I've seen in DC thus far. I like the first club scene and.... that was barely passable. I'm pretty bummed out today.

The music video didn't use scenes from the movie.

Why couldn't WB have just let Ayer keep those scenes? It added more layers to the Joker, and to his and Harley's relationship. Idiots.

BTW, didn't Snyder direct some scenes in the movie?

No way in hell that would be in a PG13 movie.

the amount of domestic violence between the two of them would have tipped this movie over PG-13, but more importantly it would have rubbed a lot of viewers and critics the wrong way. particularly when she leaves with him at the end.

a lot of people don't know their history and many wouldn't even care that it's comic accurate - they would see abuse, scream sexism and glorifying violence against women.

The gun to his head, or Joker slapping Harley?

The former is disturbing and the latter is bad. But they had Spidey slapping MJ in the face in SM3, which was PG-13. Of course, saying that, the context of that scene and the content in SS is far more adult.

Slapping her and then peeing on her. Don't even know what he was thinking filming that scene if he knew the movie had to be PG13.

does he pee on her ??? i'm never sure. half the time it looks like it and half the time it looks like he is just fixing his pants and shirt. if he is unzipping himself and peeing on her, that's an R rating right there.

You guys are hilarious. No, he wasn't peeing. That's just Leto doing offbeat postures and movements.

f he is unzipping himself and peeing on her, .

Thats also taking it a bit too far.It gives me a weird feeling to even think about it.No wonder the test audience didnt like it.

I thought Joker was great. We don't get any insight into his philosophy, but if you expected any real depth then I'm not sure what to say...

But he certainly had a tangible presence when he was on screen. He was genuinely intimidating and his behaviour was very strange. He might be portrayed as a crime boss... but he definitely wasn't a standard gangster.

There was an almost sexual vibe about him. A psycho sexual vibe. Even with men.

I also like how nothing was strictly spelled out, but he's clearly an established and powerful figure in this universe with an almost supernatural way of having things work out for him. Kinda like how the Mexican Cartels WILL find your family. I'm guessing this Joker has leverage over a lot of very powerful people.

It was also interesting to see his relationship with Harley. Does he love her? It's hard to say. One minute he's leaving her behind for Batman... but then he'd risk it all to break her out. I think he has a psychotic obsession over her. In a way he wants her because she completes the vision of himself? Like... who is Clyde without Bonnie?

I can see how this version of Joker is polarising. But I think there is huge potential here. We need to see him up against Batman. We need to see him in full villain mode.

in a way she is his creation. in his mind he drove her insane to fall for him and then remade her in his image. no wonder he is completely obsessed with her. ultimate narcissism and adoration of self-image. also, she isn't a pushover - she plays his games as we see in the club scene and that probably excite him even more.

I know some *****ed about him actually loving Harley, but I view it as more of him marking his territory. He made her, she is his property. Nobody else messes with his ****.

Yea I can see that for sure.

Tbh I'd watch a film with this Joker and Harley with Batman as the antagonist. Kinda like a even more twisted Natural Born Killers.

i think that is what ayer was going for with their portrayal and relationship. complete co-dependence and obsession. it's not love but a crazy addiction.

Hell even in btas he was bummed when she left. Because he had no one to abuse but his thugs.

Does anyone remember when the Joker told jokes?

Both Ledger and Leto seemed to be trying too hard to be scary in my opinion.

I personally find the Mark Hamill esq performance more interesting. He's a clown who constantly makes jokes, doesn't take anything seriously and has a funny voice. Which makes it all the more scary when he randomly brutally murders a bunch of people without breaking his stride.

I don't know, I'm just a bit tired of the "look at how crazy I am, I'm using my scary voice aren't I so menacing" Joker interpretation.

who knows if he told any jokes because most of his scenes got cut.

YourMovieSucksDOTorg just posted his quickie review on his channel.

He haaaated the movie, but he said he loved Jared Leto's performance ... In the same way that he loved Eddie Redmayne's performance in Jupiter Ascending. :funny: Cannot unsee now.

Exactly. The Joker is the ultimate narcisst. Not hard to believe he'd want someone there who constantly reinforces his already massive ego.

Plus, why would he want her serving a government based agenda? All the more reason to break her out.

Add to that people are trying to say a guy who is unpredictable doesn't make sense. Isn't that how unpredictability works? :loco:

Hamill is way too overrated. I looooovvvve Hamill, I grew up watching his Joker. But no, other actors do not need to be taking cues from him. The Joker does not have to be funny. This isn't a comedy and he isn't a comedian. He's a homicidal mass murdering nihilist.

Ledger & Leto weren't trying too hard to be scary, that's just ridiculous.

This is the same as those people who claim good horror movies need to have the right blend of comedy to be awesome. No, no, no, no, no.

I saw a theory on another forum about the Joker's "love" for Harley.

Joker is most comfortable in the casino scene and in his own element. However, once Harley's removed from him he's not lovesick. He resorts to child like behavior. A child without his favorite toy, the Harley Quinn. The thing about some children with toys is they love to break them.

Harry Knowles talked about this Joker being Frankenstein's Monster, but not needing the doctor to create his own bride.

It would be interesting if Joker's obsession with Harley was like Batman's obsession with him. Its different, but if the writing is strong it could work.
