Jared Leto IS The Joker - - - - - - - Part 16

I cant wait to see Leto being directed by Batfleck.

Yep. I truly believe he'll kill it with Affleck.
Honestly, Ayer's script really didn't help Leto's cause all that much. The character was written... badly. Just plain badly.

The writing wasn't strong. However, the edits make it worse. It seemed they stripped the character moments to just show him as intense as possible. No build up.

As meh (I'm assuming he had more) or poor the writing was I think the biggest takeaway was that we really needed Joker in a Batman movie first.

Leto's Joker just there to serve Harley. However, we never got to see him doing his own thing.

That way crappy writing or not we'd have been use to comfortable with this Joker. He'd be a welcomed addition even if he's not the main antagonist.

I still think his chemistry with Harley is great the more times I watch it though.

just the joker scenes from the novelization. found it on reddit.
Yeah but sometimes novelizations invent scenes whole cloth that were never even written.

Jared Leto said this to BBC:

“I think that I brought so much to the table in every scene that it was probably more about filtering all of the insanity, because I wanted to give a lot of options, and I think there’s probably enough footage in this film for a Joker movie. If I were to die tomorrow, maybe the studio would roll something out."

Ouch. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but seems to be a pretty blatant slamming of WB.

lady friend of mine described him as just a needy boyfriend :csad:
and for the most part he was truly terrible how they presented him
if we get his full performance later on maybe it will change that but from we what we got :whatever:

Your friend is right, that's basically what he is in this film.

Yeah. I feel like if we would have seen the Joker determined to get Harley back simply due to his need to control her or something along those lines, maybe it could have worked. And it seems like that's what was the original intention. But the way it played out, he just seemed like a *****ey boyfriend who couldn't let his girl go.

You know those pink and purple flashes during Suicide Squad? They're there to convey that we're experiencing events from Harley's point of view.

When we get a Joker's Cut, and I do think we'll be getting the Joker's Cut, we're gonna be in for one hell of a dark and twisted ride.

I loved the imagery that came along with Harley's flashbacks/p.o.v. so I'd definitely love to see more of that in a theoretical Joker cut.

If we at least don't get to see the deleted scenes I'm through.

I don't even need an extended cut, just at least be decent human beings and include the deleted scenes in the DVD.

That's the laugh that sounded like Romero to me.
On second thought he does use different laughs. Its just only a subtle difference from his main one throughout the movie. The scene with the security guard is slightly different. Just saw that on youtube as well.

They want us to suffer dude. Expect the deleted scenes in 2035.

Random thought, but I wouldn't be surprised if this Joker's origin deviated from the Red Hood one. In the animated series (which in turn took cues from Tim Burton's Batman) Joker is revealed to have been involved with the mob before his transformation. It would explain the "crime boss" angle they went with.

Wasn't this the case in the "Mask of the Phantasm?"

Yeah. It's related to the animated series so I just threw it under that umbrella. I liked the way Joker was used in that film. "No way is anyone going to hurt my pal Sal."

Bizarrely, I think the issue is Ayer tries to humanise The Joker, which is never a good idea. For all the talk of the most 'out there' and 'dangerous' Joker ever, we actually get the softest iteration of the character ever.

I want the type of Joker who kills children with cotton candy already.

I'm going to be pissed if we find out he wasn't actually peeing on her.:o

Still a pretty tone-deaf thing to say.

I mean am I misreading? He's basically blatantly referencing Heath Ledger there right? If he did indeed say that, seems to be in poor taste.

Then yeah, **** them. Why is asking for some deleted scenes on the special features or whatever on the DVD so much to ****ing ask for? Almost every movie DVD includes deleted scenes.

Whether he meant it that way or not, that was the first thing that came to mind. It's incredibly poor taste either way.

Uh, no. Not everything revolves around Heath people, jesus. And that quote doesn't even apply to Heath. He's talking about how studios release all this archive footage of actors after they die.

Examples?

You really believe it has anything to do with Heath? ffs... he even says in the ign interview "That's the good news about the death of an actor, all that stuff seems to come out" (nothing even has of Heath so why would you think Heath?)

Leto's always been morbid and deadpan in interviews

Is it odd that I found his burial request to be funny.
