The only time watching this that I felt like I was watching the Joker instead of someone trying to act like Joker was during the helicopter scene.

I was cringing during the club scene.

The previous two versions of Joker, when you were watching those films for the first time, you were looking forward to him reappearing onscreen. This one, I couldnt wait for him to leave.

One of the least interesting and entertaining characters in the film. Total Joker fail.

There was something that Sleiek and Mr.Wayne pointed out in the other fourm that I honestly thought was worth noting
By the way, does anyone else feel Jared Leto is more expressive as the Joker than Heath Ledger. Obviously we can't compare Leto and Ledger because Leto barely had much screentime. But the little time he had, I feel he was just more expressive.

He's a bit more exaggerated in his movements for sure. Ledger played his Joker as kind of dead behind the eyes with a lot of emphasis on the scarred mouth and more subtle and organic mannerisms. Leto does a lot more with his eyes and is very theatrical in his mannerisms. Both are fine IMO. I would have liked to have seen more footage of Leto. I liked what I saw even though I hate the grill and tattoos.

Even though I facepalmed at some of the lines used by the Joker (how he chose to introduce Harley to Monster T, "professor would you hurry it up", it sounded like something you hear on kid animated cartoon and not of ), I have to agree with this. Out of the 4 live action Jokers, Jared by far is the most expressive in body language and facial expressions.

While Heath relied on more subtle and nuanced body movements(Some of them revolving around his glassgow smile) and facial tics for the most part (except for certain scenes such as "Hit Me!", the Interrogation scene and the scene with Harvey when he became Two Face but even then was cold, controlled and just natural mannerisims). Jack was more or less Jack Nicholson in multiple ways with a permagrin. Cesar was just energetic in body language to say the least.
But Jared definitely was the most expressive and emotive of the actors who had played the Joker. (It's always interesting to note). Honestly, in body language, I feel is most like the DCAU and Arkham games Joker. Unfortunate he didn't take the Hamill route in mastering his laughs (A different laugh for each moment/emotion and treating it like a musical instrument).

If Jared was good or not, based on the final scenes they cut together, that's a different story.

"The Joker jumps up to the front of the boat and does the Titanic stance on the front of the boat. We’re coming up to the bridge and he just falls onto his back and lets the bridge go right over his face as we passed underneath. He was crazy, he kept us on our toes for the entire shoot.”

I appreciate Leto's laugh. It's different from anything we've heard before, but it's still Joker. Everyone has a limit and you have to work with what your voice is able to do.

All opinions aside, I think Leto really enjoyed playing/being the Joker.

I gotta say...I'm starting to drift towards MasterChief's level of positivity and optimism toward's Jared Joker.. Well not as overwhelming as he is about it, but certainly positive.

I wondered why, but then this post kind of made me realize why I'm feeling like that.

I've been watching a few Joker clips from the movie on youtube. They work for me. I see and get the Joker each time I see it. Some of it really has me grinning each time I see it.

What doesn't work as well is the Joker in the movie itself. Things fall flat. You can feel the editing, you feel how left field his story is to the main plot. Even though watching the clips on youtube are chopped to hell, but in a vacuum they totally work.

It sounds like a modern day Romero (his was more like HOHOHOHO), which is a plus. Familiar yet unique.

But yeah, I hope he works it out more for more variety. The same laugh over and over again will get stale quick. It worked fine here only because he was rarely in the movie.

I think it's clear that WB felt more comfortable cutting up the Joker scenes because as opposed to 1989 and 2008, they can now play the Joker card as much as they want.

I like the hurt you bad line, but they used a worse take than the one from the Comic Con trailer.

The Harley/Joker stuff at the chemical vat was great. It was very manipulative. Leto probably sold it more than the actual lines though. The way he said "thats too easy" Then the way he he slightly hesitated to ask if "she would live for him."

I liked the "This bird is baked" line. Felt very comic book/BTAS for me. Not evil, but still good.

Technically Enchantress said a few good lines at the end, but she was looking a bit too weird to take serious.

Yeah, they used the "Oh, Im not gonna kill ya" from the CC trailer but then changed the "I'm just gonna hurt cha, really really bad" line...it looked so out of place.

Watched the film yesterday. Super disappointed to see one of the best comic book villains portrayed as a generic but love sick crime boss. Even though the short screen time I can tell that I really don't like this version.

Random thought, but I wouldn't be surprised if this Joker's origin deviated from the Red Hood one. In the animated series (which in turn took cues from Tim Burton's Batman) Joker is revealed to have been involved with the mob before his transformation. It would explain the "crime boss" angle they went with.

His laugh was different when he fired the machine gun. Only time though.

Yep. I also meant stuff thats actually from the movie as well. People have posted a few scenes on youtube...the Black Tux stuff is really great. The club scene is hit or miss, but still better while isolated. You could they sped up that scene sand they cut a bit. They ruined the unpredictable element to it. Still very watchable.

The expression he makes at Monster T when Harley is in his lap is great. Just wish he had better lines.

Ledger's Joker also made a comment that implied he used to be involved with the mob prior to his transformation. I've always liked the Joker's mafia connection, myself. Maybe because I grew up with it in BTAS and B89.

I only liked his laugh. The rest of his portrayal was very underwhelming. He didnt feel menacing, just crazy for crazy's sake. I think Ayers just wrote a horrible Joker. I like Jared as an actor but that guy he portrayed wasn't the Joker.

Also the whole boyfriend angle didn't work for me. He was just Harley's crazy boyfriend. I saw that coming as soon as Waller said that Harley was even crazier and more fearless than the Joker. NO SHE ISN'T!!!

To me the core problem of Joker in Suicide Squad is not that he's a crime lord, but that there's not more to him. To me, he was just a punk crime lord, not The Joker.

And why not make him the main villain? I still don't get it. Enchantress is way too strong for the squad.

lady friend of mine described him as just a needy boyfriend :csad:
and for the most part he was truly terrible how they presented him
if we get his full performance later on maybe it will change that but from we what we got :whatever:

Honestly, Ayer's script really didn't help Leto's cause all that much. The character was written... badly. Just plain badly.
