*Sigh* Would anyone not have been happy with this?

Honestly can't say that I care for any of these designs. They just seem far too uninspired. Much prefer the design that was actually used.

I was actually referring to The Joker design only. I also prefer the designs used for the other three.

Have people considered that maybe we didn't see Joker in his classic duds because they're saving that for a Batman solo?

That's fine, but we need to deal with a few stylings above the collar to permit a return to an unblemished lavender livery.

That's always a possibility but there still was a perfect opportunity to have him decked out in the purple suit in the helicopter scene.

As much as I love this Joker changing his attire regularly, I would like to see him primarily in purple in the Batman solo.

I actually quite like the vertical tiger stripes on that Joker concept. It's a nice little spin on a traditional pinstripe suit. It's a perfect example of marrying the source material with the filmmaker's own sensibilities.

As for the others, I loathe the Harley concept, but Katana and Slipknot also look pretty good there. Slipknot's helmet especially gives it a lot of character.

To be honest, even though there are a couple Joker concept pics that could've worked greatly, it's kind of the opposite regarding Harley. I've yet to see any concept art pertaining to her that I actually like.

But yeah, pinstripes can look fantastic when done correctly. Wouldn't mind if that actually made it into Joker's suit design in the Batman solo.

Good to know we're going to hear a version of this argument every time a character is butchered.

My main problem with leto was that he always seamed to be making "Joker faces" and "joker poses". It never felt natural imo. One of the things I personify with the Joker is that he is mostly honestly happy and his manical laughter stems from real amusement. Letos manerism felt rehearsed (Almost cosplaying) and I never felt that his reactions were natural.

Strangely, I'm awaiting for Blade Runner to see whether I'm willing to go another round with Leto in this part. I'm curious how a director like Denis will utilize Leto's talents for another seemingly twisted part in a mainstream picture. If he nails it, then I'll know for sure it's just Ayer who's the issue.

I feel like he probably has a small role in it, I don't remember him going to film long, but we'll see. Edit: oh cool, just saw that there is new BladeRunner trailer on Wednesday and he does feature in it with a creepy standout moment according to HollywoodReporter

He filmed just 2 weeks.

So its probably just a small role.

However, I'm betting this will be a 7 minute role that fans will love. :sly:

Yeah I'm willing to bet it's Ayer. Leto is very gifted and it sounds his scene in Blade Runner trailer alone was really amazing

I actually think Ayer did good with the Suicide Squad itself. Even the dirty witch version of Enchantress (the less said about cleaned up version the better)

Joker...was not something he should have been writing himself. Should have asked WB to get someone to help craft the Joker with im.

Still so strange that the man who helped craft Training Day has no clue what the hell to do with the Joker.

It is kinda weird that WB just let Ayer make an iconic character like Joker on his own. Sounds like they are making stuff up as they go rather than having a universe Bible so to speak, to build off of.

Well, I do recall some people (producers, IIRC) stating that they are just throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. A horrible, horrible strategy for building a cinematic executive.

Very strange.

In fairness to Ayer he had to figure out the Suicide Squad first and then the Joker.

The Joker is something that needs a lot of time on it for it too work. I think Ayer had some good ideas/intentions he just couldn't pull it off. I still say if they just waited a year and tried to shoot for an August 2017 release date we could have got a great Suicide Squad movie with a great Joker.

Yeah, it would've probably given him the appropriate time to figure out that Joker should've been the main villain and not the Enchantress.
