Jared Leto IS The Joker - Part 5

Which is what I feel most of us thought regardless of our current opinion/standing on Sk8terBrUh JokerZ is.

With the Batman design it felt like a natural progression that we'd get a Joker more along the traditional side of things. This Joker is something I feel a random artist on deviantart would have made after watching Batman Begins.

Yea, I think that's why I was more taken aback by the look. How it didn't fit or rather compliment what I've seen with Batman so far.

Did anyone for a second believe that Nicholson's Joker was anything but a guy in makeup? And then he put on flesh colored makeup and only looked like a guy covering his makeup with more makeup.

I think this is a good comic book resemblance because it's the first movie Joker that is clearly not wearing makeup.

I'm kind of digging Manson Joker. Joker has done so many crazy things through out his history that it's really no telling what he will do next. I have no idea what to expect, but I'm really curious.

It may also be worthwhile to note that the Joker in the current comic book run has cut his own face off and then strapped it back on with a belt.

I'm expecting he goes straight to the mall, and gets a nice thick chain and picks up some Beats by Dre. Maybe a custom flat brim that says, "I'm The Joker, if the tats weren't obvious enough"?

The point is about intention, yes, Nicholson's Joker makeup hasn't aged well, but it's meant to be perma-white and the whole look is classic Joker.

@codex That doesn't make it any less of a stupid decision from the writers. I remember thinking it was dumb when I heard about it initially and I still think it is.

This is more an exception really though, there've been numerous wild redesigns over the last several decades, but it always goes back to the classic white face, green hair, red lips, and purple suit.

That's kinda where I'm at too.

This manip I did may be what I'd have ideally wanted, but I always enjoy seeing crazy new designs, and Leto's Joker is no exception, we've had classic Joker visually in Nicholson, and in cartoons, comics, etc. so I'm always open to new stuff.

I may have not gotten this, but I can certainly live with the new look, I find it very interesting.

Not knocking Leto's Joker in any way, but in terms of comic accurate appearance in a major live action film I think Nicholson has him beat.
I really quite like the new look (apart from the forehead tat), but Nicholson's was visually very comic accurate, Leto's not so much.

Well, if we're talking exclusively wardrobe, I guess I see your point...

But...

...I guess that makes Ledger's version the least accurate?:whatever:

Didn't realize that's all you cared about. But considering that's apparently the case;

In terms of the Joker's classic depiction, Nicholson definitely was the most accurate, and no, it's not limited to friggin wardrobe, he had bright permawhite skin, green hair, permanently red lips, and wore the iconic purple suits, Leto has the permawhite skin, but not as white as Joker is usually seen, has grills, and is heavily tattoo'd. The pictures you posted aren't exactly classic depictions, they're deviations from it, but it always comes back around to the classic look, much like Batman or Superman's costumes do. Leto fits into this category, it's a new version of the Joker, meant to stand apart from the usual depiction, at least on a visual level. Not sure why the rolleyes emoticon, I'm not trying to be hostile, least you can do is be civil.

Sorry for getting caught up in the energy of the board, I didn't mean to excite negativity.. but it's strange to me that anyone could ever bring up Nicholson's Joker as a visual representation of accuracy. Costume-wise, sure, at the time... but he may as well have been Adam West in Keaton's batsuit if we're talking actual VISUAL accuracy of the character in the comicbook.

Sorry, but Nicholson looks like no Joker of any age I've ever seen in any comic.

All comes back to my point of "performance comes first"

This is what I'm expecting as far as Harley Quinn goes after seeing this Joker design

Then again with Harley Quinn it would have made more sense because they've been taking her in that faux punk/gothic look for a bit now.

They'll make such a hot pair together.

-edit- I mean Hot Topic pair.

I hope they can get a remix to Sk8ter Boi somehow in the soundtrack?

I can actually see this Joker being a Papa Roach fan. Last Resort seems like a song who's lyrics he'd get inked on him. Man this is bringing back some nostalgia.

Heh. I don't know what to expect at the moment. I'm pretty anxious about what her look will be like.

Other than Nicholson not being skinny like the typical comic joker, he gives me a very strong 1970's and 80's Joker vibe.

I wouldn't have expected Harley to have the jester hat before this was photo was released, but that doesn't concern me (where I really know her from is Batman: Arkham City, and I liked the pigtail look).

Now if she's covered in tattoos and grills and bling, too...

Two thoughts about the tattoos. Even Regwec mentioned it.

Joker is so in love with him that he's the fanboy of himself. So tell you didn't like the tattos. But that's what to expect (body) of the Joker. Not some "thugs" simply tattoos. Ones that scream Joker. And the best is the skull with the arlequinn hat. So said they are plain... well... you are saying Joker's plain too.

Some people are not considering two things. There is Harley Quinn. Another thought I had is What if Harley Quinn did the tattos of the Joker especially the damaged as sort of "fan-girl" admiring but laughing and playing another game? and Joker letting her because it's another game for him.
Specially the J one. I think Harley did it.

Also on the damaged either if Joker or Harley (I bet she did that too) I think they are alluding at how Batman left him physically after the last time (maybe Robin's or Barbara incident).

There's a theory on the net that Batman may have been doing brain damage to Joker for the beat up. That he may be the point of the tattoos. pieces on his memory and starting "again". I know it's farfetched but its better than saying they are just there because of no reason at all. I'm sure that if they are part of the look. There's a GOOD REASON BEHIND THEM.
