BvS Jason Momoa is Aquaman! - Part 3

[The Question]

Is Momoa popular?

Yes.

I think interest him only became widespread since he was linked to the Aquaman role.

I don't see how that's possible. Right now, only hardcore fans really care about that.

I wouldn't call him popular. Even on GoT he died within the first season and his try at a leading man Hollywood tentpole tanked at the box office.

He died in the first season playing one of the most popular characters on the show who people still talk about three and a half years later.

People love the **** out of Momoa, man.

And "popular" isn't necessarily the same thing as "huge box office draw."



Anyway, defining Momoa's popularity doesn't matter. The fact is, he's an actor who's public image is defined by playing one the top badass warriors. I'm concerned that the guys at DC are overcompensating, and that the final product will be goofy in a bad way.

Aquaman is already a bad ass in the comics, so I don't see how casting a character who is known for playing bad asses is going to make Aquaman's portrayal be goofy.

I'd certainly say he's popular. I wouldn't call him an international superstar or anything, but definitely popular.

You can't really hold him dying in GoT against him. He died in the first season because that's the way the story plays out in the books. Yet he's no less beloved than any of the characters still going strong. He's still one of the highlights of that show for me, which is saying a lot. Him and my boy Pedro Pascal (hope to see him in more stuff very soon).

This one is pretty good. Simple...yet effective. Just need to make his hair dirty blonde IMO. Love how the facial hair is kept on and love the battle armor look. It will also be a nice touch if he was carrying the trident.

Looks waaay clunky..it has potential but half of it needs to go. If it had a mask It would honestly look like a villain you would see off of power rangers. ( i dnt mean that its ugly, just that it's to busy )

imho, this is all stunt casting with him and the rock. they are not good actors but can be visually right for the parts they are up for. it falls in line with zach's love for visual over depth.

How does Momoa look visually right for the part of Aquaman? Momoa is of island descent with darker skin tone and dark hair and he is portraying a character who has always been depicted as being basically Aryan (white blonde hair blue eyes). If anything he is an out of left field casting choice and certainly not safe. That's not to say I am against the casting of Momoa in any way. In fact I am excited. I do hope they dye his hair blonde though just to differentiate from the three other brunette leads in the film and the Justice League.

that's up to the writing not the casting.The writing cld make Mamoa play a subdued Badass like Caeasar in planet of Apes or Bombastic one like Barbarians.Its all on writing.
