Jason Statham to take on Meg

This better be a fun romp as the trailers suggest or I riot !!

The movie is mediocre. The shark doesn't do all that much either.

Can’t wait to see this, might be able to finally on Monday :word:

I remember reading about this movie being in development twenty years ago on the old Coming Attractions website. Twenty years later and the reviews are just as I expected them to be back then.

I think The Meg will open to at-least (26-27)m this weekend. It may even go higher and hit 30m for the weekend.

I dunno about the legs tho. General audience reception is still up in the air and it could go either way. (65-70)m is probably the range for the final DBO.

It's no Jaws, but it's no Sharknado.... it sits right in the middle. It's like a slightly less dumber Deep Blue Sea.

I keep bouncing back and forth whether to see it tonight. The critics and the audience are pretty evenly split 50/50, 60/40 on it. I'll probably just go in tomorrow because it's one of those movies I know won't track well with critics and the audience may or may not know what to expect from.

I'll tell you this, I had a few people in my audience last night who were jumping in their seats in fear whenever Meg showed up.

Maybe it's their first shark movie? I dunno.

Audience score has already plummeted and people were like "Audience score is 92%! DOn't listen to the critics!"

Somebody gave The Meg a score of 92%?
No yesterday the average audience score average was 92% before it even really had its opening day. Now it's down to 59%. Someone gave me a hard time about how high the audience average was.

Yep. The score is bouncing between around 58-62% or so. Currently it is sitting at 62%.

Oh well, I seem to remember people thought the shallows was a dumb shark movie too in the beginning.

I’m sure I’ll have a good time

The Shallows and The Meg have basically nothing in common other than it has a shark in it.

Very true. One is taking itself seriously. While the other knows exactly what it is and not really trying to be overly serious.

One is a low budget character piece in a single location.

The other is a big budget goofy CGI big monster movie.

I think its hilarious that Statham slags superhero movies ("My grandmother could do them with all that CGI!") but a CGI shark movie is worth his time.

Not to mention all the CGI in the Fast and the Furious movies.

Exactly so I don’t see why people are still comparing them but whatever I guess.
